Dang. If tag and stickers were current, no swerving or crossing center line, no improper turns and no lights out, that’s a really strict speeding stop but legit.  When on the road in a “foreign” jurisdiction best to err on the side of caution, right? A former Alabama state trooper client once told me their rule of thumb was a relaxed standard, “zero to nine over limit is fine but ten and up over limit, you’re mine.” Mrs. Llama was once stopped for speeding by a trooper in rural Choctaw County, Alabama.  She was observing the “stay with other vehicles” driving technique and was last of about ten in a cluster of traffic on a divided four lane US highway.  The lead car in the cluster was a red sports car 🚘, which she figured would be pulled over first . . . Wrong!  She saw an oncoming trooper topping a hill with his blue lights already strobing.  He passed the whole group, crossed the median and immediately stopped her, driving an inocuous white Tahoe. He ticketed her for speeding. She ended up having to attend “speeding school.” Mrs. L is 72 years old and that is the only traffic ticket she has ever had.

Mrs Llama has a better driving record than me. And, yes, my kid’s group was rightfully stopped, and a ticket would have been appropriate. We have taught our daughter traffic stop/police etiquette, so when the query for permission to search was made, she, from the passenger seat, immediately said “no.” The cop asked her why,  and she said it was within their rights to refuse.

Maybe the cop was actively looking for drugs with every traffic stop, and maybe the automatic refusal and assertion of a right to do so pissed off the cop. To us, speeding itself shouldn’t  justify a search, much less a K9 search. And we are angered that an unsuccessful search was followed by a physical search of their persons.

While I like and, in some ways, share the sentiment, the band would have been a lot more pissed off and worried if their kids were also on the boat.

Truth.

Currently in ruralish Brazil (Rio Branco) visiting my wifes family. This place was a Bolsonaro hot bed, including most of her family. They have nothing but venom towards Trump after this past 2 weeks. Him trying to interfere with Brazilian politics/economics/social media regulation is backfiring and actually garnering large support behind Lula. Dumb idiot.

To quote Tyler Durden, “We’re all just polishing brass on the Titanic.”

Find joy in watching it all crater. Be the band that played on deck while everyone else panicked.

As good as some of the MAGAt schadenfreude can be, it's hard to find joy in our country imploding in the most idiotic and foreseeable ways possible. All of our futures are being robbed from. Shit is depressing as fuck.

Their righties sound a lot different than ours. Guess that's because they don't have a Fox News equivalent that they all download their thoughts from.

Sweet, now we can really stick it to those American corn farmers while buying more (tariffed) sugar from Brazil!

Hell, they need to happen at this point to show them that bad things do happen to rich people.

Ocean Gate and Luigi showed Americans love it when rich people get fucked. It’s the one thing that brings both sides together which is why Dems need to run on all class warfare all the time. Fuck the economy, fuck jobs, fuck equal rights, nothing but “String ‘em up” from now until 2028.

If he could force Dr Pepper to allow Dublin to resume making Dublin Dr Pepper then that would be a real win for America.

Alternatively, someone told him about the Robert Kraft/Putin story.

"I took out the ring and showed it to [Putin], and he put it on and he goes, 'I can kill someone with this ring,'" Kraft said in 2013. "I put my hand out and he put it in his pocket, and three KGB guys got around him and walked out."

Coke isn't changing anything. Will they potentially offer a limited line of cane sugar cokes? Possibly. Will they completely change their formula because Trump asked them? No.

CEOs have no choice but to agree with Trump when he calls but that doesn't mean that they really have to act on his requests. Now if this becomes his main focus then they may need to act more decisively.

Doesn't Coke already offer real-sugar Cokes (often referred to in these parts as Mexican Cokes)?

Now let's see if any of these idiots know what happens to real cane sugar once it is put in a low pH environment in carbonated beverages.  Hint:  it breaks down from sucrose to glucose and fructose, essentially as HFCS.  Here is a video that discusses it.  The video really breaks it down at around 6:55 if you want to skip to a hysterical and brutal insult in a published scientific journal.

This is most likely a market manipulation event.  Just another of many.

Just like the ‘New Coke’ marketing, it was all a ploy for you to buy more.  Didn’t exactly age well.
