Insulin for me. None for thee.

I think you mean hyperglycemia, unless you’re sharing too much of your precious insulin w the rubes…

I'll keep this comment out of the DT "Thread of the Rains," but I have a feeling lots of red voters in those hill country counties are gonna realize that Trump's FEMA and federal government assistance in general for the recovery effort will be suboptimal.

Quote

Trump has convened a council to review and recommend “improvements or structural changes” to FEMA, and suggested the agency might “go away.” He has also said states would best take care of disasters on their own, with the federal government reimbursing some of the costs.

Under Trump, FEMA has denied federal assistance to Arkansas, West Virginia and Washington state, and refused North Carolina’s request for extended relief funding following Hurricane Helene, according to Stateline.

I guess Abbott will have to bust out the checkbook.

And Florida wants to pay for their new detention camp with, guess what? FEMA funds.

Its apparently sitting around $30B, but hopefully that's not already earmarked for something sensible like BTC or TRUMP crypto purchases.

For a sense of scale, the costs of the Blanco River flood were estimated at ~ $3B.  Somehow I feel Abbott won't do enough, regardless.  Call it intuition.

I can't celebrate people like Irma suffering. These are the same sad, hopeless people that preachers take advantage of. But this advisor to Kevin Stitt? That's the good stuff.

Rural America can’t die fast enough. I have no interest in continuing to fund their failed culture and delusional politics. Fuck them. They think they’re capitalists? Cool, let the free market sort it out.

The GOP has been trying to starve rural Texas to death for 30 years. As far as I can tell the people there want it to die.

They will absolutely not realize that. They will 100% blame Biden.

Lucky for us, Dan Patrick is currently "Acting Governor".  He's probably more useless than Abbott.

This may not be a popular opinion here but I actually agree with this arrest regardless of her and her husband’s political views. She’s not fleeing oppression, violence, or even poverty. She’s a scofflaw and cut the line more than once. She should have been gone long ago yet has been here 26 years.

maybe again an unpopular opinion but I’d prefer to deport criminals other than rapists and murderers rather than use taxpayer funds to feed clothe and shelter them

I think most of us agree.  And we're making fun of an administration that does just that.  They supported this guy very much against their own interests.

I know some will write the commentary off because its in a liberal rag, but somewhat crazy that the dude publishes the article just hours before central Texas gets turbo-fucked by a scenario that is getting more and more common. And the rubes want to keep licking trump/abbot's balls.

It’s more that I live in rural America and the people around me that I’m talking about, none of them are involved in a work context like you describe.  They are rural, blue collar types, and they are as happy as a maggot in a warm pile of bullshit.

Some blue collar folks I know who most would describe as white trash, are upset over the deportations. They know Mexican immigrants work their asses off, they work with them. They don’t understand why he is doing this.
