I hope the good people of Kerr and Guadalupe counties can pull up their boot straps and rebuild without any federal assistance. They voted for it.

That would be socialism like Venezuela where they're eating rats!

I'll keep this comment out of the DT "Thread of the Rains," but I have a feeling lots of red voters in those hill country counties are gonna realize that Trump's FEMA and federal government assistance in general for the recovery effort will be suboptimal.

I guess Abbott will have to bust out the checkbook.

I know some will write the commentary off because its in a liberal rag, but somewhat crazy that the dude publishes the article just hours before central Texas gets turbo-fucked by a scenario that is getting more and more common. And the rubes want to keep licking trump/abbot's balls.

The state will just take the money they need from AISD.

It’s more that I live in rural America and the people around me that I’m talking about, none of them are involved in a work context like you describe.  They are rural, blue collar types, and they are as happy as a maggot in a warm pile of bullshit.

Some blue collar folks I know who most would describe as white trash, are upset over the deportations. They know Mexican immigrants work their asses off, they work with them. They don’t understand why he is doing this.

I believe I posted the hartman snl clip in some thread somewhere but it’s, once again, appropriate here.

For a sense of scale, the costs of the Blanco River flood were estimated at ~ $3B.  Somehow I feel Abbott won't do enough, regardless.  Call it intuition.

He'll send the Texas Guard and ask people to donate and pray. He's a pious man. A caring man. A shitstain of a man.

Rogan is the perfect embodiment of America. We are just so god damn dumb.

Pretty much what I was thinking.  That he is the "podcast king" indicates all we need to know about this country.

Yep.  Mayor Pete should do it.

The Trumpanzees will just cancel him out and turn to the likes of Megyn Kelly/Candace Owens for their misinformation consumption.

Candance Owens is pissing on their cheerios too, but probably related to Russian influence

Well, I think the election was lost due to people who really aren't Trumpanzees, but were simply insufficiently engaged or smart (like Rogan himself) not to be taken by the propaganda.  And some of the more benign Trump forces like Rogan and Von heavily influenced them.

So, if you are able to uninfluence them the same way, they will probably flip and we get something more resembling 2020.

I admire your optimism.   My statement about Rogan was actually regardless of politics.  Just pure idiocracy.

But while I'm at it, I really doubt Rogan goes all anti-Trump, or that it would make much of a dent if he did.  I'm not convinced Rogan listeners are active voters but I admittedly have nothing to base that on.  Trump has  a 79% approval rating among Republicans.  Sure, that's down, but it is still a strong majority.  They like the fascism.  They don't care if they hurt as long as you and I hurt too.  Random "oh look here's a tweet from an upset maga" doesn't represent the majority of them.

This belongs here:

Kerr County residents did not want federal funding that could've been spent on flood sirens because the money came from a Democratic admin

If true, fuck all of them.  Zero sympathy from me.

I’m going to take a guess that most of the drowned are not from kerrville or Kerr county.

I would imagine the majority of those campers came from Tump supporting families though.  Rich, white, Jesus loving folk vote Republican.

The thing is: many of the victims weren’t from Kerr County. Their deaths are externalities of the kind of stupidity on display in that transcript.

27 young girls killed. But at least Jimmy Joe Bob Fucknuts isn’t offended by the existence of public safety measures bought with Biden’s criminal communist blood money.

Agreed. I've been hesitant to post any of the LAMF stuff but this was the first one where they had the receipts. Not only did they not want the money because it came from "Democrats", they also sat on it to keep it from going to Blue states instead.

I hope the board members burn in hell for eternity. Maybe eternal drowning. EDIT - specifically that Frank Wade of 175 Beaver Road, Ingram, Texas who was doing the speaking there.

But their actions killed children and a lot of innocent people. Those people deserve sympathy.

I know people that have zero love for Trump or this administration and either went to that camp or sent kids to that camp.

I know people are mad and I’m not calling you out singularly, but it doesn’t make a fucking difference. Kids don’t vote. And, FWIW, everyone I know that either had kids at camp in Hunt, has sent kids in the past or is an adult that went to camp there, myself included, definitely didn’t vote for Trump.

Actually it's Frank Wade of 175 Beaver Road, Ingram, Texas.

In my particular connection to a little girl who drowned at Mystic on Friday morning, this is true. I was surprised to learn that nugget from my wife on Friday night when I mentioned that Dan Patrick (shiver) might be reaching out to them directly. (Long story.)

Some Surly-ite who is down there should do a drive by and see if that cocksmoker's house was flooded or not.

I have no hope for the hardcore Trumpists, that's not who I am thinking about here.

I am thinking about those who made the difference between 2020 and 2024.  They're not all-in on evil, but they are influenced by guys like Rogan and Von.

If it's not under water, maybe see about at least putting it under some piss?

Not that Frank Wade of 175 Beaver Road, Ingram, Texas doesn't deserve shame, but I didn't get the impression he was a board member, just a private citizen speaking his turn.

Not that I would mind if he burned in hell for eternity, mind you.  I mean, I don't know the guy, but I'm going on instinct here.

Probably right. But it would really sucks if a man like Frank Wade of 175 Beaver Road, Ingram, Texas had his shit posted all over the internet because he is a real piece of shit.
