TCU @ UNC - 7 pm central ESPN

This is funny as hell but it’s a shame it has to come at UNC’s expense. They always seemed like good people with a beautiful campus to me. How many years are they locked in for on the Bill Belichick/Mike Lombardi nepotism gravy train?

Fuck UNC, did you forget this is the school that created fake classes for athletes and didn't get shit down to them by the NCAA.  Fuck them and fuck Duke while I am thinking about schools that have gotten away with cheating and never got touched by the NCAA.

Margin of defeat in both their debuts was identical, too. If you dont count UNT, Charlie lost to BYU 41-7.

Mack enjoyed the hell out of both, guaranteed.

. Duke doesn’t have to cheat. It’s incredible.

I’m amazed that people thought Belichick was a great or even good coach. Was outright horrible without Brady, while Brady went out and won without him easily. Almost all of his assistants turned out to be terrible HCs. Nothing else needs to be said.

There is a inherent fallacy to this argument. Brady wasn't considered a sure-fire star when he came out of college, which is why he was a sixth-round draft pick. Brady flourished under Belichick's system, often with nameless players. Belichick was a great defensive coach in New York w/ the Giants before he got to the Patriots, and a great defensive mind at New England, and ended up arguably the greatest ever by record alone. He WAS a great coach. He may end up a total disaster at NC (and it's not looking great) but for people to say Brady was the only reason he was great is just silly.

I have an hypothesis. I don't think Billy gave or gives one shit about UNC football nor how they perform. I think Billy had already grown sick of his 7 hot sugar baby and found a way to get paid to shop for a new one with access to a huge pool of talent. I applaud his creativity. The conspiracy is real.

Someone's afraid of the Iron Skillet outcome in a couple weeks.

Well, likely that and there's been no discussion on Arch's performance against OSU on this forum. Someone should start a thread or something.

so I guess by surly logic Belichick is a shitty coach now

I mean he did get fired from New England and couldn't get another job anywhere in the NFL despite there being a huge need for head coaches.

This. Just the most obvious emperor has no clothes situation.

Tom Brady really did make him.

Joe Gibbs is the best head coach of all time, winning 3 Super Bowls with three different QBs. Followed by Seifert and Parcells doing it with two. Obviously, Brian Billick is one of the best ever because he won a Super Bowl without even needing a QB. All the rest are just guys made by their QBs, especially those bums Noll and Walsh. People try to give Belichick credit for Parcells Super Bowls because he crafted the defenses that shut down big time offenses, but he had LT, Carl Banks, etc, etc so 500 guys could've coached those defenses to Super Bowl wins. People point out Parcells playoff record is like 10-4 with Belichick and 1-4 without him, but that's just a coincidence. Here is the real list of great HCs that made it themselves without great players:

Sure. He would have made a great position coach, maybe a coordinator.

Ha, even if you add those numbers together it would still be smaller than their actual age gap.

I just learned something shocking. Mike Lombardi, current UNC GM and Belichick crony who has failed in every job that didn't provide him a seat on Tom Brady's jock, is the highest paid GM in CFB. According to ChatGPT he's making $1.5mil, and the next highest GM salary is USC at $1mil.  What a laughable misallocation of funds.

For a couple years there, he seemed to care a whole hell of a lot about his legacy and getting the appropriate among of credit. Then shit went sideways in New England, and the NFL told him to fuck off. Watching him now completely torpedo his legacy for said grifter pussy is a fascinating look into the human psyche.

Correct!

Spygate helped his defense keep up with Brady’s offense.

Things that made Bill Belichick:

1) Tom Brady

2) Veteran players who came to New England as free agents to play with Tom Brady to win a ring.

3) Tom Brady taking less than his true value so that there would be money to spend on veteran players.

4) Veteran players taking less money, because atom Brady was taking less money, to come play for a ring.

5) Bill Belichick cheating to steal signs so that his defense was good.

6) Seattle calling a goal line pass play when they had Marshawn Lynch in the backfield.

GTFO here with what should have or almost happened w Seattle. That's not a proof point. What did happen is a typical, no-name Belichick-coached player made a play. Hey, as a NY'er, I HATED the Patriots and Belichick with a passion, but bro has won a record six Super Bowl championships as a head coach and two as the defensive coordinator of the Giants. That is an extraordinary record and he is rightly viewed as the NFL's greatest coach of all time.

I do hope he fails now for the entertainment value, haha.
