Whatever happened to the "You voted for this, so GOOD!" leopard eating faces energy? Was that just our Brat Summer? Time to get all sentimental with the leaves changing colors?

Dude you operate in bad faith.  I hadn’t put you on ignore but it’s clear you have no moral core.

Me neither.  Vegas is actually consistently center to center-right (in the traditional sense).  Animal Tobacco and Swam were nutjobs.

From a game theory stance, the republicans have gone full defection, escalation, false signaling, and dominant strategy play, then any play by the democrats to ‘preserve the system’ or cooperation guarantees a loss.

There is no scenario with Republican tactics where democracy lives.

Our system is therefore dead no matter what. Democrats only play is to win at all costs and then hope to rebuild a system that closely resembles a system that you were previously trying to preserve.
So there must be an escalating tit for tat with assured enforcement with a credible threat of retaliation.

XdY7.gif

What I've been saying for a decade now.

Once someone has opted OUT of the Rule of Law and norms, there is no play -- none, not a single one -- within the Rule of Law and norms that is a winning play.  AND, once once side has opted out of the Rule of Law and norms, then those things are over.

Since we're living a wrestling kayfabe, once one side starts swinging chairs grabbed from ringside, any "legit wrestling" is over.  It's now a chair-swinging fight, completely outside all rules and norms.

All that is left is to (1) win at all costs, (2) impose crippling punishment/sanctions to destroy the offenders once you have the power to do so, then (3) reconstruct the institutions of a democratic republic the best you can.  But with better guardrails and failsafes this time.  Knowing that nothing is perfect.

And at this point, all options are shitty.  But you best grab a fucking chair and start swinging if you want to survive.

Well, for people who live in cities with populations under 100k, that complete collapse seems to be coming. It's going to be hard to have a baby when the hospital is 2 hours away.

vegetables are high: plant a garden

Pregnant and hospital closes: boil some water

Something to keep in mind: the Democratic Party is pretty unpopular right now, mostly because they seem like a bunch of pussies while Trump is doing horrible shit. In fairness to the Party, there aren’t a ton of levers they can be pulling to rein in Trump. But this one of them. There may not be another one that comes along in the next year. And they are framing it around an issue they can win on: healthcare premiums.

So, yay, the Dems need to do this.

They should just say “trumps mandate was to shut down the government. And he did in under a year. After failing to stop the Ukraine war, failing to stop rising prices, but hey his son make 200 million on a crypto scam and Trump got a free jumbo jet. I am sure republicans think this is worth it.”

The dem party is most unpopular with…dems. Because they act like gaping vaginas. Fuck these republicans. Let them fucking choke on this and every mother fucking democratic member of congress needs to keep up the mantra that republicans can open up the government today by killing the filibuster why not done.

The Senate Republicans could nullify the filibuster and reopen the government tomorrow. They have the votes. Why won’t they? Because they’re unserious and incapable of governing.

What’s the solution to the lack of immigrant farm labor in the 1850’s?

Didn’t think that through.
Once again, republicans don’t have solutions to …..

Ohhhhh.

NM.

They thought that one through.

I wonder if this will actually stick, no matter how long we go on. Or will people just move on from it like they’ve moved on from every other one of his heinous acts.

I don’t think it’s gonna go away any time soon. The American attention span is basically that of my pup’s. For it to still be in the zeitgeist is surprising

ACA is something the R's want to scrape. The ACA disproportionately helps the R's voter base. It's actually politically reisky to scrape it at this point for the R's, so why not let them screw up.

The saving grace for the D's I could see is allowing for them to expire due to government shutting down and sticker shocking the R base into putting pressure.

Regardless it looks like this whole fight and shut down has settled fully into ACA vs No-ACA.

You realize that most red state voters using aca subsidies don’t think it’s the aca? In oklahoma they say “we don’t need Obamacare we have SoonerCare.” They also think their welfare isn’t welfare only the Blacks are on welfare. I personally don’t even care about the fucking aca at this point the bottom line is that the right refuses to govern in good faith. They refuse to negotiate. They support a president who literally says he only cares about his voters and thinks it’s funny to use ai to drop shit on those who don’t vote for him. The bs message they have up on government webpages is all it takes, no dem should vote for a single thing proposed by republicans period. Yeah let planes crash, who cares at this point. Either the US voters figure it out or we collapse. If it’s the latter lets speed it up so we can start fresh sooner rather than later.

Speaking of plane crashes, anyone else notice the spate of plane crashes mysteriously slowed down / ended once Elmo and DOGE got kicked out?

Oh, and while I am on one hand on the Dems' side on this (because they need to put up a fight on SOMETHING).....I do tend to agree that total, unbearable pain is the only thing that will change anything.  We need to make sure the messaging is out there, so that enough of the people know who to blame when they lose their healthcare, lose their jobs, can't afford a home or groceries or christmas presents, etc.  But let them get burned.  Badly.   Horrifically.  Because that's the only way most of us learn.

IMG_5368.gif.e1b3fb3e3f8e22694a9ddcd002a2524b.gif

And then, when they land, we will explain to them who was responsible for their being burned.

It won't stick. The reason MAGATs haven't moved on is they haven't been forced to actually reckon with the idea that Trump is promintenly featured in the list. They still think it's going to confirm their warped view of the world that Dems and Dem-aligned folks are running a secret underground child smuggling operation. If/when they're left with nothing but vegetables on their plate, they'll throw a tantrum and get Fox to play the whiny titty baby hits. I'm a little curious as to the dog whistle they settle on. DEI and woke are about played out. I suppose they could try to refresh CRT, but I suspect their dialed-in marketing folks will have something shiny and built for distraction ready to go. I wonder if they're ready to abandon the facade and come right out with the 14 words as the mainstream rallying cry.
