Thank you for your services boys (and all those who serve and served).

I was a baby with shots when I was younger. Hated them. I was a military brat in a military family called to live abroad. AF medicine injected the family regularly with a fuck ton of military grade needles - with none in kid size. It was like going to a vet.  The halls always reeked of rubbing alcohol in the hospital clinic.

I made my peace with needles through the kindness of a friendly phlebotomist at a non-military hospital.

Spoiler

I told her of my phobia when I met her and found out what she did. She right away offered to help and told me to picture her unadorned pillowy assets when someone is putting a needle in me. Since I hadn't seen them unadorned, she set up a follow-up later appointment later that evening to burn the picture into my memory. She was extremely thorough in her practice of phlebotomy. We need more professionals like my friendly phlebotomist. That was a solid by her, although she may be a vampire with her love of draining blood. Whatever works, I suppose.

The trick still works for me to this day. YMMV.

That's the shit I don't get. Shouldn't that be the Trump Warp Speed Vaccine that fake news Biden took credit for ?

Dude, it's so fucking stupid. The vaccine is, without question, Trump's biggest accomplishment. We can sit here all we want and argue over how much direct credit he should receive [read: none], but it was developed, tested, mass produced, and administered under his watch. That would get attached to any competent President in the history books. It's literally the only thing in his life that he's ever over-promised that didn't turn out under-delivered.

But he and his supporters were/are too fucking stupid and dedicated to making libs cry to make it part of his legacy. The one good thing that occurred under his administration is now "the mark of the beast" and something that only liberal cucks with their beta immune systems need.

I got the Pfizer vaccine. Trump didn’t have anything to do with that. Pfizer didn’t receive any funds from Trump. They invested their own money. The Emergency Use Authorization allowed the vaccines to get out to the public quickly but the same thing would’ve happened if Hillary were President, or literally anyone else. Hillary also would’ve used the Defense Production Act to produce Covid tests and PPE’s which Trump didn’t do. She wouldn’t have minimized the threat, dismissed wearing masks (once they were available to more than health workers), or promoted hoax treatments like hydroxychloroqhine, or suggested that injecting disinfectant into the human body might be an effective defense against the virus. (She wouldn’t have been perfect and would’ve been roasted by the right for some tiny mistake.)

Trump was still saying that Covid talk would disappear on Nov. 4 a week before the election. There are millions of his followers who refuse to get vaccinated, or wear masks, or to take the pandemic seriously because of his mixed messaging and outright lies. No one could have responded to a global pandemic worse than he did. Hundreds of thousands of Americans died unnecessarily because of the incompetence of Trump, Pence, and Kushner.

It Trump didn’t have some advisor who convinced him he should try to do something to promote the production of a vaccine, he wouldn’t have even done that. He’s too stupid to even grasp the nature of the pandemic. He was too busy producing a reality tv show and got really annoyed when actual reality got in his way.

Agreed. No one remembers the scientists who invented vaccines. Everyone’s always going on and on about how King George III eradicated smallpox and how Eisenhower ended polio.

But just because everyone hates Trump and thinks he’s a dipshit who had nothing to do with vaccine development and who doesn’t understand biology or basic science and who thought bleach is a vaccine and who generally tripped over his own tiny mushroom dick over and over again on all things Covid, they’re not willing to give him any credit and instead insist that scientists developed the vaccines just because they did all the work and made all the innovations and conducted all the clinical trials.

Your sarcasm is duly noted. Yet, despite being a hindrance every step of the way and being an anti-science moron, he STILL could have stolen credit in the eyes of 40% of Americans. If he got his GOP cultists on the same page, pumping the "a vaccine would have taken years without a brilliant businessman like Trump as President" lie, 70 million people would have bought it hook, line, and sinker and attach it to his legacy...at least in red states.

But they're too incompetent to pull off a lay-up.

Isn’t that exactly what happened? Excepting the fact that millions of his followers refuse to get vaccinated, that’s the message he spouted.

I’m not willing to give Trump more credit than he deserves for having done what any other President would have done in his position. Anybody would have ordered an accelerated vaccine search. Anybody.

No other American President ever held Mussolini-style rallies like Trump did (and is starting to again). And he used them to declare that the virus was a hoax perpetrated by his political enemies. He was singularly unique in being just the exactly wrong person to be in charge when a global pandemic emerged. He wanted to keep sick people on cruise ships from docking so they couldn’t be counted among the sick. I’ve heard some reporting recently that he suggested sending them to Gitmo (from some upcoming book and it’s uncorroborated but that sounds on brand).

https://www.forbes.com/sites/jemimamcevoy/2021/06/21/trump-reportedly-considered-sending-covid-infected-american-tourists-to-guantanamo/

He was outspoken against testing because he figured as long as you don’t test then there’d be no cases of Covid. We’ve seen and heard what he said in public and we’ve heard Bob Woodward’s recordings of what he said during interviews that directly contradicted what he said in public. Messaging and bullshit is his only game. Anything positive he did regarding the pandemic came at the urging of someone else.

Giving Trump credit for funding the vaccine is like giving someone credit for taking care of their kids.

Sure, he tried, but the GOP and Fox News, for once, wasn't in lockstep and decided that becoming anti-vaxxers was the best way to own more libs.

If trump had even pretended to deal with Covid he’d still be president and the country would be totally fucked. Both Trump and his moron supporters are too stupid to realize that. Thank God.

All he had to do wAs keep his fat mouth shut and half way give a fuck about Covid. Also only listening to his dumb ass son in law in regards to all matters was a huge mistake

I disagree based on nothing but anecdotal evidence. I think Covid netted Trump more votes than he otherwise would have received. The people who, after 3 years, would have said, "This is great. I want 5 more years of this." wouldn't let something small like the gross mishandling of a worldwide crisis sway them. They were already too dug in as pro-Trump or never-Democrats to budge.

Conversely, Fox, Facebook, Twitter, and the GOP did a pretty expert job of positioning Democrats as the "lockdowns and masks forever" party. So people who just wanted to go back to work or wanted something closer to normality were swayed.

Though, I'm sure that Biden got more votes due to the pandemic than he otherwise would have from people who don't typically vote, so who knows.

It's two-fold

He lost a lot of moderate suburban college educated voters because of his mishandling of the virus.

He won a lot of urban/minority support because they were hit harder by lockdowns.

If he took it even mildly seriously, he would have won re-election because he wouldn't have lost as many suburban college educated voters.  As usual, Trump was handed something so easy and he fucked it up (like steaks, football and casinos).

Trump never exceeded 50 percent approval but right after Covid hit he got close. He fucked it up of course so it went down again to where it always was and stayed.

If his approval rating at the time of the election was close to 50 percent like it was right after Covid he very likely wins due to the electoral college.

Yeah....was it pointlessly -- and almost certainly inaccurately -- mean and cruel?  If so, that there is some GRADE-A PATRIOTIC AMERICAN OWNING OF THE LIBZ, right there.  The base stands up and salutes that stuff!

lol. ok, how so? please explain what I said that is wrong.

This statement...

Quote

also the 19 had nothing to do with the year

is 100% completely wrong.

Common question

Where does the name COVID-19 come from?

On February 11, 2020, the World Health Organization announced an official name for the disease: coronavirus disease 2019, abbreviated COVID-19. ‘CO’ stands for ‘corona,’ ‘VI’ for ‘virus,’ and ‘D’ for disease.

jesus fuck, you're right. my brain is mush from the last year. I had my "19" naming hoaxes backwards. carry on.

Wait, are you from the future? Is there a covid-91?  Or wait, was there one when I was in high school and that's why girls wouldn't talk to me ?

Either way, explain yourself commie!   Man, that's embarrassing if we're still dealing with number dyslexia 70 years from now.

Your reading comprehension leaves a lot to be desired.

Chill. I read your whole post and agreed with all but this statement. Hence my post picking at that one thing. I refuse to grant that ass-hat’s mismanagement of Covid as an “accomplishment” in even that regard. He killed people, and many of the unvaccinated Delta dead today are on his messaging as well.

Are you new to Shaggy/Surly and the Divine mandate to snark post……in accordance with the prophesy????
