We already decided it.  While there are some olds among us, and plenty of underlying causes, Raydog can only bang (and eat the ass out of) so many of his midget girlfriends before it comes knocking.   And his part of the world is slowly picking up steam

I’m coming over to give you a goodbye hug.

Heard Herman Memorial already has some staff on 2 week quarantine and there's an ER doc in Philly doing the same.  You know, staffing hospitals is already a challenge, wait until we have to start pulling bigger chunks critical staff for 2 weeks at a time.

Hard to send the kids to school this morning.

Two weeks til spring break feels like too long to wait.  School is happening this morning but I laid the groundwork with a conversation last night.  Day to day.

Glad I'm giving Lauderdale a miss this time.

CNBC just reported the director of the NY/NJ Port Authority has tested positive.  Forgive me if I'm wrong; it's on in the background here and that's what I think I heard.

For people who want to compare the flu to this virus, somebody pulled the Italian numbers (February hasn’t been tallied yet)

  • Flu in 4 months (October to January): 2.8 Million infected and 240 Deaths
  • Covid19 in 3 weeks: 7 Thousand infected and 366 Deaths

https://www.thelocal.it/20200123/flu-outbreak-in-italy-half-a-million-people-struck-down-in-a-week

Exactly, if you want to stop the panic, give us something other than words to offset the story being told by facts and data within the world at large.  The panicked masses don't give a shit if this doesn't wind up killing as many people as the flu.  They want to know the elderly members of their family are safe.  They want to know test kit production is ramping up to meet demand.  They want to know we have and over supply of beds and equipment to treat the most ill.  They want to know we are throwing as many resources as possible at vaccine R&D.

In short, they want to know someone competent is handling this.  That the virological equivalent of the Wolf from Pulp Fiction is out there and on it.  That is what will stop the panic, not condescension towards their concern.

The sad thing is, we have actual numbers and data.  We have an assisted care facility that this thing did a number on.  If you got it in people’s heads that this thing wiped out at least a dozen people from a nursing home in a week or two, and potentially up to two dozen since mid-February, that should get their attention.  But we’ve already got people trying to move things along and claiming it’s like the flu or that the flu is worse.

To demonstrate how safe this situation is, this ignorant asshole should go to the nearest hospital and shake hands with everyone who's being treated.  Perhaps even give them a kiss.  And slip them the tongue.

Weird - the Hopkins sars-cov-19 data website that updates a couple times an hour has gone dark.  Not just dark, erased -  'no data'.

It's gone wonky.  Earlier it was just reporting deaths.  Now it's just showing total number of cases.

APIs break all the time. It's nothing, will likely be fixed by the time I'm done typing this or in short order. If it "goes dark" for a day+, then it's a better argument that something nefarious has happened.

Buddy of mine in the USMC is undergoing chemo treatments down at BAMC.  Guess what floor the quarantined coronavirus people are being kept on...???

The delightful irony of this guy whining on twitter about how he can't get information, tested, and is in a perpetual loop of being heisman'd is outstanding. I'm sure he won't question any of the reasons WHY things are that way, considering his political leanings, but man, the irony certainly isn't lost on me.
