I don't really know either of them well.  Tate seems like pseudo alpha a-hole.  Peterson insists on himself, but I haven't heard him espouse similar.  He says there are women psychopaths, but they can't use physicality to victimize so they use other means.  Which seems pretty right to me.  There are bad, bad people of both sexes out there.

Peterson somehow manages to bundle "every woman who isn't a submissive tradwife type" into the "psychopath" group.  Women who exercise any agency fucking piss him off.  They piss off all of these losers.  Why?  Because women with agency and options don't fuck guys whose primary approach to women is "I'm the man, you owe it to me to give up the pussy."  Peterson puts a better vocabulary on it, with that nice Canadian accent and delivery, but the message boils down to the same thing.  Women who want to be submissive trad wives are emotionally and mentally healthy, women who exercise agency and dare reject sub-standard men are meanie psychos.

The alcohol/consent topic has been prevalent for quite a long time.  I recall it being pretty prominent in the first year welcome to campus seminars/classes that everyone goes through.  I certainly would believe its been even more emphasized recently.

@Incredulity when were you at Texas?  I don't remember going through any campus seminars/classes my freshman year (89).

But there's also a chance that I was either too drunk or stoned to remember.

I also think that if you choose not to participate in social media you have a really hard time not being viewed as a weirdo. I’ve seen this from all ages in the current dating scene now. If you don’t have Facebook/twitter/instagram you are a creep because they can’t stalk you.

In the dating app world a presence on at least one social media platform is almost a necessity. #1 reason being it’s a way to show that you’re not a catfish. It can also show that you at least have some level of friends or a social life, and can also be a red flag filter as well (ex: oh this person follows a bunch of neo nazi accounts, let me not waste my time going on a date with them). It’s pretty much why I have an Instagram. 11 posts in 7 years, 200 something followers and accounts following. Pretty much just enough to show I’m likely not some murderer.

I'm Gen X.  as well.  Maybe I am conflating something else from early work years.  I seem to remember sitting through some seminars/orientations around general safety/sexual harassment/student life....   The one point that really stuck with me was the definition of "offensive" around harassment and that "offensive" was up to the person who was offended.  That sparked some moron to want to debate so we had to sit there 20 min longer than we should have.

Peterson is a fucking quack that constantly spews misogynistic nonsense like the Tate stream of insanity. The only difference is Peterson wraps up his ramblings in pseudo-intellectual nonsense with Jungian references. Peterson probably fools more people because they can't decipher his psychobabble.

Did you click on the video above?  Again, I don't really have a bone in the fight regarding Peterson.  I clicked on it expecting something "insane" and it isn't in that video as far as I can tell.  But that video doesn't really have a lot of JP content.  Just some speaking clips and movie clips centered around bad relationships.  Kind of weird.

I've really only ran into Peterson on Real Time and a couple other places(cable news maybe) I can't think of off hand.

I don’t think this is the case. Women haven’t all of the sudden become more selective.

some of you really have never interacted with the Jordan Peterson/Andrew Tate/Stephen Crowder types have you? It’s fucking brutal even for other men who aren’t incels to tolerate them let alone women.

I worked with a guy years ago that would talk to me about how great Jordan Peterson was. Weird dude.

No. I was addressing the similarities between Peterson and Tate. I first came across Peterson about a decade ago when he was giving a talk on Jungian archetypes in modern society. I was interested in it from an evolutionary perspective but he was already off the rails back then and it was clear he was just dressing up misogyny. His message is pretty much the same as Tate’s, no significant difference.

Most of the young adults, that I know around here don't use social media, my son doesn't have any. Someone hacked his Snapchat account and sent all of his group a message saying he needed money for rent, and asked them to Venmo funds to an account he didn't create. They all knew he lived at home, at the time. We were on or way to the lease when it all went down. Then the fucker that did it wanted $1500 to let him have his Snapchat account back. He, and everyone that got that message went to straight group texts. I'm sure a bunch of the women still have social media accounts, but they know that a bunch in their group only text. CHIEF Jr. wasn't the first one it happened to, happened to several others as well. Realizing a face to face meeting, and getting a girl's number, where you can't get catfished and you can gauge just "how bigga ol' girl are ya" is still a thing.

Ill just say that there is something happening to young men that make then start following that group and believing their bullshit. Socially normal guys, dont fall into that BS

Social media in that instance, because that’s where the bullshit is spreading, and that desire for likes and to be accepted drives that shit and makes it easy.  These younger people can get wrapped up in a false social media image of what is presented as being a manly man or whatever.

I personally think it starts with kids being allowed to watch toy unwrapping videos on YouTube, along with the videos of adults trying to sound like kids and playing with said toys (all the while very adult hands are seen on camera manipulating the toys).  I think it puts those kids in an unrealistic and entitled mindset.  They get a dopamine hit from seeing new toys unboxed, and they end up going down that path of trying to see stuff that makes them feel good.

It's not just "social media", it's micro targeting to identify the young men most vulnerable to their message and then inundating them. The social media companies love it because they make money on the ad sales PLUS the increase engagement from the victimhood/rage posting.

It's the same playbook used by steve bannon to convert gamergate into a political power base, and it's the same ethos and messaging as peterson

that is really a perplexing situation. Nobody has ever mistaken me for Brad Pitt.    I’ve only met Surly peeps Immamac and Bolverk IRL.  They will sign affidavits that I’m not a head turner.    I did not date a lot in high school but U of Florida being such a large school there was plenty of opportunity to be shut down that was more acceptable in such a large pond.   And there were enough women there a few of them with bad judgment were totally OK dating me.

After I graduated and started earning some coin, the 80s were fantastic.   I remember one week I slept with a 16-year-old and a 39-year-old (I knew of Xavier college - but there was also a Xavier prep school.  I met the 16 yo her on the riverboat President where X had a concert. The young lady was apparently a Billy zoom fan.)

The 39-year-old was a recently divorced insurance adjuster, and she picked my 26-year-old self up at a bar during Mardi Gras.   That was my first experience with semi-encapsulated breast implants, but I powered through it

The simple point is, if you keep swinging your bat, you will eventually get a hit. All of these guys quit stepping up to the plate.  Thinking back, I blame me marrying the ex-wife on the fact that she spent the night - and when I woke up the next morning - I found her earring under my pillow and handed it back to her.  Oops. Turns out it was not her earring.   I then told her “I tried to get a Mormon girl up to my bed  and she was shaking her head vigorously so it must’ve fallen off. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. “   I believe it was that moment that my ex-wife decided she would go after me full-time because then it became her versus the competition.

tldr:  even an ugly Mook like me can get laid if you just put some minor effort into it, shower and cut your toenails occasionally, try not to look like a Pacific Northwest grunge band member from the 90s when you dress, and have something to talk about with your date.  And by that I mean, let your date do most of the talking, and you nod and pretend to look fascinated (until you become fascinated).  That’s about all you need.

that's funny

Wonder if the decline in sex is partly due to the fact that young men today are more weary of committing statutory rape or having sex with impaired women, who by legal definition can’t consent (also known as rape). Or at least that’s what I’m getting from this thread.

I've turned down plenty of pussy because the lady had too many drinks.  But, if my girlfriend/wife is/was drunk, it's fucking ON.  With nary a complaint the next day, except maybe a "wow...I'm a little sore".

Look at the schoolteacher threads.  A female teacher has sex with a 14 year old boy, it's high-fives for the kid.  Turn that shit around, and it's '"GET A ROPE"

I think a lot of us are saying the same stuff….I think the pandemic stuff took it to 11 because many young males who were out of school (high school or college) were all of the sudden physically isolated for quite a while and they weren’t around other men who provided a more positive role model, and were consuming this shit, and then you had young teen males also stuck at home consuming this shit.  Both groups (teens and early 20s) were very isolated and therefore vulnerable for a year or two.

They weren’t  binging healthy stuff like The Office, Seinfeld, Community, Game of Thrones, or Friends or whatever like everybody else.

It was already in the bloodstream prior to COVID, but it definitely ramped up during the period of home loneliness not unlike how qanon really escalated from its nascent state once everyone was locked inside

Agree, was just challenging immamacs take that is the red pill douche bags fault. They obviously have a hand in them going full bore but it was something else that made them open to listen to the Tate and cos poison.

Its social media, porn desire getting rejected not knowing how to deal with it.

100% agree with Smax. It has divided our nation, and much of the World. It has caused unimaginable harm to our relationships (my BIL's narcissistic wife and he divorced over her seeing people going on exotic trips and they couldn't), social media, misinformation, infidelity, murders, human trafficking, a whole list of societal ills. It has its benefits, but the bad far outlays the good.

I disagree - information alone doesn't cause this sort of angst. It's the finely tuned and micro targeted effectiveness of it all. It's all encompassing and inescapable. When my wife first searched for a baby item after learning we were expecting, her Instagram feed started pushing all sorts of early pregnancy horror stories. It really put her in a bad place or a day or two when she was really feeling all the nausea, and she had to stop using insta for a while because of it.

She didn't post on Instagram about being pregnant, but within minutes of doing something on one part of the internet, EVERYTHING else knew.

That is one hell of a recipie for horrible escalating feedback loops that are fertile ground for ill intent.

I'm glad you feel that way, and my sense is most people feel that way. What's changed recently is that some people and a vocal group of advocates have started a conversation about whether consent in those situations is valid.

A few who have gotten way too deep into those conversations are re-examining their past and declaring the consent invalid. I'm definitely in favor of having clearer "rules of engagement" when it comes to consent. Alcohol of course is a gray area and always will be a gray area. The safest thing is to avoid buzzed intimacy altogether, except with a steady partner where the question of consent is not really in doubt.

just kidding. maybe. lol. i dunno. it has its place. my experience is just that, mine. i was a feral child who became an unsupervised adolescent who became a pretty reckless young adult...but it all lead eventually to my 'now' which is not bad at all.  at least that's how it looks to me from here. i know some people have a lot more unpleasant memories, surely plenty of them women.

i really was just trying to offer another perspective altogether to reassure some posters, in the context of this group and this discussion.

I listened to him once on Rogan like 7-8 years ago (before that show went to hell) and thought “hey, this guy seems reasonable”.  And then his next appearance got weirder and the one after that weirder, and by that time I was coming to the conclusion that the entire Rogan universe was nothing but endless small dick energy with a particular political slant.

I quit paying attention to Peterson before he got into that submissive tradwife shit, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Without judgment, a lot of you sound like old guys trying to prove how manly you are (were) because back in your day getting pussy was the most important measure. I'm an old millenial but I can somewhat identify with some gen-z characteristics, one of those is giving less of a shit about proving your manhood. I never really understood the crawl over glass obsession with sex. Yeah, it's a fun time but it seems older generations seem to put a lot more emphasis on it.
