Yeah, there's been a movement here (Seattle) to switch to even years; the state lege forced all municipalities into off-year elections in 1969, so both municipal and state law would need to change. Turnout in off years even in a vote by mail state like WA is about half of even-year elections. That said, terms would be shortened by a year at the bridge rather than adding an extra year as Miami is doing.

Oh well, at least we're going to ranked-choice primaries in two years.

Do you know why ranked choice voting takes so long to declare a winner? Why aren't ballots counted and the ranking done on election night?

It's going hurt the rubes that voted for him much, much more.  Pain is the only way to either break the fever or get those millions and millions of people who cant be bothered to vote to get off their asses and vote.

Yes, but cynically many of the worst provisions don’t take place until after the midterms. So the idiots will blame the Dems when they retake both chambers and all rural hospitals close

Elections only have consequences for liberals. Every bad thing that happens is the result of something Obama did 10 years ago. Sorry, this isn't changing in our lifetime.

Yeah I've lost all hope. Trump could do a televised address from the White House, detailing specifically how he, Donald Trump, is taking away money from the rubes.... and he wouldn't lose their support. "He must really need it!".

It’s not RCV itself, it’s just the local election administration rules in place.  The RCV can be done in minutes. Some places wait until all ballots are counted, I guess because they don’t like the idea of a candidate being eliminated one day and brought back the next, but it doesn’t have to be that way. In San Francisco we see the RCV results real time.

They don’t need midterms or a dem majority to have blame placed on democrats. They don’t even have to choose the villain themselves, the rubes will assign Biden or Obama or someone more local.

They wouldn't convict when he was impeached for violent insurrection.

They vote for a bill that is a nakedly wicked piece of legislation mainly comprised of cruelty and greed.

It's all right there for all to see. This is what utter defeat looks like.

In 2006, John Dandois, Media Arts Group executive, recounted a story that on one occasion six years previously, Kinkade became drunk at a Siegfried & Roy magic show in Las Vegas and began shouting "Codpiece! Codpiece!" at the performers.

Sounds like a man with a soul most of us would recognize.
