Early stages of him rebranding the party with his name.  It was only a matter of time, as he can’t help himself.

he will also start calling it the Trump ballroom, and eventually claim he has done enough remodeling of the property that it’s the trump White House.

Call me old fashioned but in my opinion the bigger problem with Boy Scouts is the diddling.

I assure you, that’s NOT the problem that Epstein Republicans are concerned about.

Yeah, that’s just a “foreigners, don’t come to the US at all” measure. Might as well start charging a flat $500 tourist visa fee to even fly here.
It’s just utterly psychotic xenophobic shit for the sake of being xenophobic. Why do we hate non-Americans? Because they aren’t Americans, full stop.

complete anecdotal evidence, but while on a recent vacation I was at a national forest during a workday. Based on accents that I heard, I would have to guess that ~50% of the visitors that morning were not Americans. My guess is that we will see the following:

  • Trump will claim this will generate X additional dollars. He will take the estimated annual foreign park visitors and multiply that by $100 or $250.
  • Perhaps declare a possible "F the Foreigners" check to all Americans
  • Never discuss how total park revenue will eventually drop by a large percentage as non-Americans are staying home. Definitely ignored will be the local impact to hotels, restaurants, etc.

Umm... You referring to this?
Tourist visa fees
  • Visa Integrity Fee: A new $250 fee is being added to the standard application fee, making the total $435
  • Visa Issuance Fee: Some nationalities may need to pay an additional visa issuance fee after approval.

Yeah…that shit. And we’ll probably be killing reciprocity fee waivers/reductions for European countries soon as well.
Because we need to create Fortress America, nobody gets in or out.
There’s not an aspect of totalitarian states that we AREN’T aiming to emulate.

This. We won’t collect that revenue. They’ll just stop coming.
And I recall on our summer trip to the Yosemite valley floor like 10+ years ago, it was full of buses of Chinese tourists. Take those out of the mix, and revenue would go way down.

To be fair, they’re just not concerned about it right now. Rest assured, they’ll be champions of the exploited again if the winds’ direction changes and they receive different marching orders. You unfairly misrepresent the nuance in child sex trafficking.

As someone who lived a few years at one of the overnight points for many tour buses, there is an enormous foreign visitor population all season long. Especially Chinese and Korean.  Companies there sell these packages that include the busses with predetermined stops in the park, and lodging, plus the airfare.

no idea if this will kill that or if they will just absorb and pay it, at least for YNP.

Of course when park revenue drops and the fed govt is asked to provide more funding to keep the lights on, the MAGA business opportunists will point that it's another reason that national parks should be sold off to private interests who can better manage them. Which also means selling off to more industry interests and give the more scenic areas to billionaires.

What pisses me off is the countries that are exempt. Well their businesses, and citizens, are better placed to pay this fee. Those that are not, and we do a lot of trade with them, do not. I am talking Latin America (think Brazil/Mexico), Eastern Europe, Muslim countries, etc. Only non-White nations I saw on the exemption list are Japan and South Korea.

Yeah, but of course Cleetus will now go.
