And Mitchell had almost the same amount in a WR room that also had Worthy and Whittington, and a TE named JT Sanders…
1 hour ago1 hr Coleman is an AD Mitchell type, Wingo is a Cordarelle Patterson type. Both have a role on this team. Gotta bring in a shifty, RAC, burner type to give these guys more room to operate.

1 hour ago1 hr Wingo is not a natural pass catcher. Poor hands and has trouble tracking deep passes and making catches in traffic. Best utilized on short catch and runs for YAC. Coleman hopefully brings more of a downfield threat. Good complement. Then let Mosley work the middle of the field where he has shown a good ability to find soft spots in zone (when healthy).
1 hour ago1 hr There had been smoke we'd been talking to this guy for a Matthew Caldwell style senior coaching internship / backup role. Guess he's going to be a starter somewhere instead.
1 hour ago1 hr I don’t need fucking stats to tell me what my eyes can clearly see. Texas hasn’t had a WR with the size and ball skills like Coleman since Collin Johnson. Unlike Wingo, Coleman was in a high school offense where he only ran hitches, slants, and Go balls. Is he Jeremiah Smith? Probably not, but we don’t really know. The fact that Coleman has been elite with Payton Thorne and Jackson Arnold throwing him the ball tells you all that you need to know. Nash can eat a dick, he does not know ball. Coleman is elite, Wingo is good.
1 hour ago1 hr 29 minutes ago, Sgt Hulk said:Reed outplaying arch 90% of the season is fascinatingIt is amazing.I think a solid test of who Coleman would want to play for, setting NIL aside, is whether a fanbase actually wants its QB back. In the case of Texas, everyone is absolutely thrilled about Archibald coming back. Meanwhile in The Station there is a lot of angst about Reed returning, given that he was exposed by defenses with a pulse.

1 hour ago1 hr I see a Tee Higgins-like skill set when I watch the Coleman tape. Winning 50/50 balls is such a bonus for a QB. And as someone else posted upthread, I don’t see how he didn’t get multiple taunting calls, he seemed to enjoy Mossin’ a fuck and then letting him know he just got punked.
1 hour ago1 hr With the $ Baxter, D Moore, and Livingstone would cost we could cover like 2/3 of Coleman's ask.

However, the school calendar plays a role if players want to participate in spring practice.”We can sign them right away? UTs calendar seems to suggest they need to sign with us by Jan 20 to be in Spring semester? Other than those players, we might sign players from this portal until when, realistically?this schedule is so fucked up.

If Sarkisian has all of the access to capital that landing him implies, awesome. If he’s being signed and then we hear the poormouthing about other key targets heading elsewhere, that’s less than optimal. I pointed out that the guy will frustrate people for the same reasons that Wingo does. I did it in a semi-cartoonish manner and now people have started to develop Surly facts that maybe he sucks and we shouldn’t want him. If the guy signs with Texas, with Jaggy McJaggerson leaving, he’s going to become my absurdist whipping boy for 2026. He’ll have to hold onto the pen long enough to sign the contract, so there’s still plenty of risk on this one not getting done.

Celebrating 50 yarders is done at the nfl level and getting there at the high cfb level. Not sure I agree with your deductions. I think it's an increased focus on bio mechanics. I was a high school kicker 25 years ago and there were camps, coaches, trainers, etc. solely dedicated to high school kickers and punters then. I imagine they had similar things on the division 1 level. Not just "grab a soccer player and tell him where to go on Saturday."

Idk how they compare last year.On Colemans' highlight reel, most of his first few are contested catches going high up in the air to get the ball. I think Wingo had 1 catch where he went high to get it, and it was uncontested with no one anywhere close to him.I don't think Wingo even knew that going up to get the ball was allowed until he saw Arch do it. He may be the fastest runner on the team, but nowhere close to being a great receiver.

57 minutes ago57 min Both can be true - Coleman has way better ball skills than Wingo (downfield, 50/50 balls, etc) but is also prone to easy drops. The stats I reflected, and the eye test, point to both of those things. Like CTJ said, no one with a brain is saying we don't want him, just that his pedestal might be a little high on here.

47 minutes ago47 min Coleman is going to get drafted in the first round whether he stays at Auburn, goes to Texas, Bama, aggy. He would instantly be our best WR, even if he drops a few balls. I hope to hell we sign him. The handwringing about passing him and using the funds to get other WRs is a stupid fucking take. You don’t get a trophy for best value and best contracts. Ohio State didn’t bargain shop when they went to go get Caleb Downs and Judkins. Next year is championship or bust. We’re going to lose Arch, Simmons, Goosby, Wingo, McDonald, and a lot more talent next year. It will be rebuilding more for a year or two after. All or nothing. Go get Coleman, Brown, Baugh/Lacy, and anyone else that we can. Stack this roster bc we have a loaded schedule and will need the depth and NFL talent to make a serious run. 2026 is not the year to penny pinch considering what it took to get Arch, Simmons, etc. Edited 42 minutes ago42 min by victory88
