Looks like turnout the DC parade was off the chain.  Stacked two deep, maybe three in places.  Less in other places.

Poor baby didn’t get the military parade he wanted for his birthday.

You’re not wrong.
But the foundation for action is energy. Most fires start with a match. The opposition has needed some broad-based spark for a long time. Now, to get that into leadership…that was the cautionary part for me. The speeches I heard? They were…fine. As I was listening, I kept thinking over and over “FFS, I could do this much better.” The movement needs passion, voices that shout real, broad calls to action, that ignite fires, that get people to want to run through fucking walls for this. The best moments that I heard yesterday were maybe a B+ in that regard.
The opposition needs voices that can send people out into the world with passion, determination, and fervor. I don’t think we have those yet.

so what's next?

scattershooting:

the coalition of 50 different movements, all the names you know and then some, came together to make this happen

christy walton (billionaire widow of a sam walton son) has broken ranks and funded some of the media buys that no doubt contributed to the turnout - is she still in? for how much $$?

there is a brand to rally around

the signs from yesterday are the content

the people got off their asses because the dems are turtled cowards - the protest was done FOR them DESPITE them

the new faces and voices that have yet to emerge have to be male and not 'minorities' - they must be faces the magats and morans can't auto-delete because reasons

balancing the right mix of asymmetric decentralization and national economies of scale is going to be the alchemy that results in lead or gold

I couldn’t attend my local event due to being out of town, but it makes me very happy to see the overwhelming turnout nationwide juxtaposed against the very pathetic images and videos from FDT’s parade. People seemed enthusiastic, creative, peaceful, and happy to stand together for a shared cause. Contrast that with the parade that seemed forced, uncoordinated, poorly attended, and oh yeah, the U.S. government needed Coinbase to sponsor them. It was the best possible outcome for the day as a whole and it gave me a tiny bit of hope, more than I’ve had in 6 months.

I do wonder what is next? Nice to see this turnout but it seems it was coordinated in response to his birthday and parade, so will there be another nationwide event in the near future? Hopefully so.

Also nice to see some celebs like Jimmy Kimmel and Mark Ruffalo standing up, but I feel like we could really use a hero to do something monumental. Like in my fantasy world, it would be Taylor Swift and Beyoncé hosting a free concert on the National Mall. I know it’s wishful thinking, but America needs influential people to build energy.

One of the protestors who was shot in Idaho has died. He was killed by a “good guy with a gun.” The man who fired the shot was aiming at a man, A Gambia, who had pulled an AR style rifle from his backpack and was running toward the crowds. Ggwag also wounded Gambia, who was charged with murder, even though he never fired his weapon. The ggwag was not held by authorities, and his account was corroborated by witnesses. Horrible.

I suppose the ggwag probably saved more lives than he apparently accidentally took.

Breakdown of the SLC shooting from the PD

https://police.slc.gov/2025/06/15/slcpd-provides-update-on-downtown-shooting-investigation-2/

Around 8 p.m., officers and detectives – including members of SLCPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) and Gang Unit – were flagged down near 102 South 200 East.

There, they found a man crouching among a group of people with a gunshot wound.

That man is identified as 24-year-old Arturo Gamboa, who was dressed in all black clothing and wearing a black mask.

As officers approached, community members pointed out a nearby firearm, which was described as an AR-15-style rifle.

Officers also located a gas mask, black clothing, and a backpack in close proximity. The items were collected and processed by the SLCPD Crime Lab.

Paramedics took Gamboa to the hospital. Detectives later booked Gamboa into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on a charge of murder.

Officers also detained two men who were wearing high-visibility neon green vests and carrying handguns.

These men were apparently part of the event’s peacekeeping team.

During interviews, detectives learned the two peacekeepers saw Gamboa move away from the crowd and move into a secluded area behind a wall – behavior they found suspicious.

One of the peacekeepers told detectives he saw Gamboa pull out an AR-15-style rifle from a backpack and begin manipulating it.

The peacekeepers drew their firearms and ordered Gamboa to drop the weapon.

Witnesses reported Gamboa instead lifted the rifle and began running toward the crowd gathered on State Street, holding the weapon in a firing position.

In response, one of the peacekeepers fired three rounds.

One round struck Gamboa, while another tragically wounded Mr. Ah Loo.

Detectives have not been able to determine, at this time, why Gamboa pulled out his rifle and began to manipulate it or why he ran from the peacekeepers when they confronted him.

The peacekeepers immediately attempted to provide aid to the injured bystander.

Detectives are still actively investigating this case, to include the actions of the peacekeepers.

Detectives have developed probable cause that Gamboa acted under circumstances that showed a depraved indifference to human life, knowingly engaged in conduct that created a grave risk of death and ultimately caused the death of an innocent community member.

“Our detectives are now working to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident,” Chief Redd added. “We will not allow this individual act to create fear in our community.”

Fucking this. We need a leader, not more celebrities. I applaud celebrities for being more vocal about their politics these days, but, unless literally every artist at the CMAs surprises everyone by revealing that they're all anti-Trump, it just don't make a shit.

In West Chester PA - no kings rally-goers saw a man who looked out of place. They alerted police who questioned him and then arrested him with an unlicensed, concealed firearm and a lot of backup ammunition. Video at link. One of the officers unchambers the guy's firearm and they discuss that they guy was "planning something."

I went to the No Kings Birmingham

The crowd (maybe a thousand?)

News saying 5,000 in Bham. Probably a combo of my poor counting skills, hippies showin up late, and a little exaggeration.

Anyway, don't matter. I was at a Pride rally the next day in Linn Park selling the shit out of cartoons, and Mayor Woodfin walked right up and shook my hand.

If the Democrats had an ounce of killer instinct, they'd run him as at least VP, but they won't, so Birmingham's gain I guess.

There were definitely some fucking bad folks out looking to start some shit. Based on the MN politican-killer's "NO KINGS" signs, I wonder if he planned to end his day at the local rally there and take out some more anti-Trump folks.

Do we have any context for the Washington Monument shot?  When that occurred?  It's not super helpful to put two photos next to each other that aren't the same area.

They're both Washington Monument shots. Same area. Different angles.

I’m shocked!  Dps is withholding info about the “credible threat” to the Capitol building.  CBS Austin reporting that he has not been arrested or booked on anything.  He was pulled over for speeding.

jackasses - it was a political stunt by Abbott.  As you all predicted
