If you have the cash, you can ball out in Dubai and get away with most anything.  While much of their assets are frozen, any good mob boss has "options" and other means at their disposal.

They are probably reading the crypto threads as we speak!

I live 40 miles NW of the Port of Houston/a shit ton of chemical plants and 30 miles from downtown Houston.   If this area is on the list, I hope the Russian drop one of those big ones that vaporizes everything within 50 miles of it's target.   I don't think I want to live through the aftermath of something smaller.

if you level the 225 corridor/Baytown, and port Arthur. This nation comes to a screeching halt

I'm 40 miles South of Ft Hood. I'll probably pour a bourbon, light a spliff, and go sit on the front porch and try to enjoy the light show for a few minutes.

71 miles from Cheyenne Mountain here.  I'm probably not within an immediately dangerous radius if there was a direct hit on NORAD, but these are Russian missiles we are talking about.  I figure I'm 50/50 for a direct hit on my house.

I’m a couple of Uncle Rico throws from Hood. I won’t even hear the boom.

If you work for a big company, there's a good chance they will match your donation to WCK. There's a box you can check on their web form, and all the companies they have match agreements with will show up in a drop down. Select your employer, and that's all you've got to do.

Thanks for the reminder. I went and looked and sure enough my firm was doing a dollar per dollar match up to $1M through Global Giving.  That fund has less than 5% expenses and is extremely transparent.

So they are near the Japanese islands right now and need to steam…through Indonesia/near the Philippines and around Africa and up through Gibraltar into the med, across that, and then into the seaways?

I too was trying to do the math there - not sure whether they can go through the Suez Canal, but that's still quite a voyage.

That awkward moment when Italians in New Jersey look down and see they're wearing exactly what Russian assholes are wearing.  If I had the capital, I'd open up Newark Haberdashery later today.

Also, the fleeing of Russian elites to the East makes sense.  Putin was dumb to come out of the gate at Chernobyl where the water table could be infected.  But at least he's enough of "a true genius" to know which way the jet stream works.  He will push more personnel (perhaps multiple divisions) into Ukraine with supply columns behind them.  They will then retreat under the narrative of "massive Ukrainian resistance (which is believable from what we've seen already)."  Satellite imagery will verify this.  And to "save" tens of thousands of his own troops, he will have no choice but to deploy a handful of low-yield tactical nuclear warheads over select targets.  The literal fallout is then observed, with massive casualties on both sides, including into actual Russian "air."  The negotiating table for the rest of humanity's future is completely reset and nothing is ever the same again.

I actually don't think he will use nukes.  My reasoning is that while we may not counter with our own nuclear response, what we would do is reach out to China, Saudi Arabia, Mexico and any other "Neutral" countries and say they are either on the side of NO nukes and shutting Putin/Russia down, or they are going to face the same economic sanctions as Russia.  So they jump on the Russia is a pariah economic bandwagon or they join them.  Pick a side.

I would hope this has already been conveyed to China/Saudi/Mexico/etc, and that they have passed it along to Putin that if he crosses that line they are out in whatever tacit/hidden/neutrality support he has been receiving.

While it is a big bombastic threat (Russian negotiating tactics), it is not something (tactical nukes) that will drive any significant battlefield success and then his own people would say "We nuked our "cousins" in Ukraine in order to 'free' them?" and the rest of the world will say WTF!!

To Putin the threat has more power/influence/benefit than the act.   It's kind of like a hostage taker with a gun to the head of a hostage making demands.  If he pulls the trigger he has lost all his leverage and shit gets real.

They are amphibious. They will go through China, the Stans and Georgia.

Who the fuck has 1000 personal staff? Maybe that's normal for heads of state but that seems like a lot.  Of course I don't even have a maid so might be out of touch with the .01%.

Poor. Poor. We've got a poor over here.  My butler has a 1000 person staff.

Peasant.

If the Russian Navy is like the Russian Army, those ships will run aground before they get to the Indian Ocean and the troops onboard will get jobs diving for pennies thrown from cruise ships.

Or...and hear me out.....those ships don't look to have an armed escort.

All you need is some ballsy Ukrainians to acquire some sort of fast-moving vessel in the eastern med (I bet one can enter into a shady transaction in Greece, for example), get in there with a coupla javelins, and boom.....you've sunk a shitty Russian amphibious ship from a mile away.  I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't heavily armored.  AND, even if they are, set the javelin for one of its "from the top" strikes.  Blow a hole in the deck, set a fire below deck, and that ship is toast.

Awesome, Cold War-era dick measuring over where we fall in the blast radius is BACK!  I’ve lost count of how many competing claims to being “3rd” on the Russians’ targeting list I’ve heard from denizens of various fair burgs.

My office is essentially 1 block away from both the NYSE and Freedom Tower/WTC. So, I guess it’s been nice knowing you fellas!

They'll get hijacked by pirates in African waters. Love to see the imagery of a Russian warship be towed by a fishing boat.

So, yeah, also an option -- simply contract with some enterprising Somali pirates.  "We'll pay you $20 million for each captured Russian amphibious ship" = a shitload of

moments.

Replacing 1000 of your personal staff after invading a sovereign nation under false pretenses is a bold move. It's like a triple dog dare, like he wants to be poisoned.

CHIEF

You really are only allowed to restaff your coordinators once before you get shit canned.

Pay Putin his buyout and send him packing.

So...you want to use an anti-tank weapon against a ship.  You bring knives to gunfights as well?

I suspect that weapons designed to be used against ships would work better.

You use what you can. They've already knocked out a ship with MLRS system which is not designed for ships.
