The minute a church opens up the floor for a politician to speak -- I don't care what party -- is the day that church should lose tax-free status.

Generally agreed.  If that politician confines his remarks to something apolitical, that would be ok.

"But we should support Israel" is not that.

There are far too many people in this photo still alive.

Virginia's story is a gut punch to me just like thinking of those poor girls at Camp Mystic. Those stories found the express train to my cynical heart.

I now wonder about Virginia's death. I didn't know there was a book to be published.

The monsters are turning me into a monster. Maybe, it's more apt to say that enemies are making an enemy of me. Age, comfort, relationships, and (fuck!) timidity reduce my formidability. I feel sorta merciless, though.

Perhaps I share too much.

maga can argue all they want whether she's lying or not, but why were they traveling with a child all over the world ?

I don't think it can work. Because who then vets what they say. Much easier to say if you're an elected official of any kind you cannot speak to a large gathering at a tax-exempt religious event.

Akin to aggy hissing any time UT is mentioned no matter the circumstance, like say a funeral or something.

Prince Andrew now understands what it means to be able to get by but not get away:

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/king-charles-iii-strips-prince-andrew-of-titles-evicts-him-from-royal-residence-over-epstein-ties

King Charles III on Thursday stripped his disgraced brother Prince Andrew of his remaining titles and evicted him from his royal residence after weeks of pressure to act over his relationship with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Buckingham Palace said the king “initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew.”

Effective immediately, Andrew will be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and not as a prince, and he will move from his Royal Lodge residence into “private accommodation.”

Demand had been growing on the palace to oust the prince from Royal Lodge after he surrendered his use of the title Duke of York earlier this month over new revelations about his friendship with Epstein and allegations by one of Epstein’s victims, Virginia Roberts Giuffre.

Yeah, then lawyers will make careers arguing of what large means.  Better to just fucking tax them all and be done with it.  Clubhouse deserve to be taxed.  Same as all others.

Counterpoint, those "churches" will claim they aren't religious events; rather grifting opportunities.

Hell, it worked for Fox News saying they weren't News but rather entertainment.

Another two weeks perhaps?  For real though, i don’t know how they continue to keep the government shut down if that’s their plan for keeping the files from being released.

It's just completely naive to think more than 2 or 3 elected republicans will care even a little bit when the Epstein files finally drop and implicate Trump. There would have to be an actual video of him raping someone for these people to really care, and I'm not even sure if that would be enough for them to impeach and convict.

Follow-up:

DOJ Admits to Republicans That Epstein Files Are Even Worse for Trump

Spoiler

Rumors about Donald Trump’s connection to Jeffrey Epstein have gripped the Republican Party.

A few conservative representatives with ties to the FBI and the Justice Department have spilled that the true details of the Epstein files are “worse” for Trump than previously reported, according to journalist David Schuster.

Michael Wolff, a longtime chronicler of Trump’s White House who conducted extensive interviews with Epstein prior to his death, told The Daily Beast last month that Epstein had shown him photos of Trump with half-naked “young girls” in his lap.

These rumors have galvanized into a legitimate movement among Republicans, who are now, Schuster wrote on X Wednesday night, clamoring for the files’ full release.

For months, just four Republicans had penned their signatures on a discharge petition demanding transparency into the investigation of the pedophilic sex trafficker and his potential associates. Those conservative lawmakers include Representatives Thomas Massie, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Nancy Mace, and Lauren Boebert.

Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva, who won the special election in Arizona in September, has also vowed to sign the bipartisan petition. She’s the last signature that the House needs to force a vote on the issue—and Speaker Mike Johnson has conveniently refused to swear her in for more than a month.

But the disturbing new rumor has dredged up far more support, with “more than 100 Republicans” planning to vote alongside Democrats in an effort to “get in front of what’s coming,” reported Schuster.

The Trump administration has failed at every turn to mitigate anxieties about the president’s longtime friendship with the child sex criminal. The typically bombastic Attorney General Pam Bondi was silent when asked about the photos during a Senate hearing last month, a choice that further “spooked” several GOP lawmakers, with many interpreting her nonresponse as a very vocal “yes.”

“The question is, did the FBI find those photographs that have been discussed publicly by a witness who claimed that Jeffrey Epstein showed them to him?” asked Democratic Senator Sheldon Whitehouse in early October.

But Bondi could only blink with her mouth agape.

“You don’t know anything about that?” Whitehouse said. “OK.”

Has he ever expressed that level of sympathy for the victims of all the child rape?

When you're a celebrity, it's not rape. You can get away with anything when they're teenagers. They love you.

Trump doesn't recognize rape as a crime. It's a business model.

I don't really understand what the fuck is going on here and how there are no leaks, but also how they can just not redact or conveniently lose files.

Likely because the people actually handling this information are not political appointees but are career civil servants whose pensions would be at risk if they engaged in any fuckery. Criminal penalties are on the table even if Trump were to promise a pardon - not like he gives a shit about them. Thats a lot to risk for a lame duck.

Well, originally, it would have been in the hands of criminal investigators and then lawyers, who have various motivations not to leak or disclose, which is why we generally don't get a lot of deets on a criminal case until and unless people are charged.  They just don't leak.

But apparently now it is in the hands of Congressional committees, who leak like a sieve.

This.  What the fuck.  If there really is evidence that would be severely damaging to Trump, why the fuck wasn’t it released years ago and why the fuck aren’t people oppposed to Trump who know about it not talking about what it is?  If there’s not evidence against Trump, why isn’t Trump just releasing the files?  None of this makes any sense.

Yeah, this whole thing is weird. If now there are allegedly 100 GOP reps who are willing to vote to release the files, why do they need Rep. Grijalva's signature on the discharge petition? Why can't one of those 100 who haven't signed do it now?

Because we live in a simulation. None of this would be happening in a real world with reason and logic.

100 Republicans are now willing to release the files? Oh, well then I'm sure they have finally been scrubbed of anything that will harm Trump and we will never get to know the details of him and his buddies' crimes. But hey, at least Clinton and Gates will get criminal charges, that should be some great smoke and mirrors to cover all the other heinous shit we will see over the next 3 years.

Again, fuck you Merrick Garland, you worthless fucking skunk.
