Zero. She’s a bartender. For a year and a half bars have been proven to be one of the most significant spreading locations for the virus. Spending any amount of time in a bar unvaccinated is actively choosing to get the virus.

There’s a reason why all of the top 22 outbreak clusters are college campuses. A bunch of people packed together closely and talking loudly is the ideal location for it to spread.

This poor fucking kid.  Nothing to say, other than I wish he had parents that were up to the responsibility of having a child.

LOL.  You know it's true kemosabe.

I would certainly posit that the large majority of posters in this forum would have a blanket reaction that just about any output of the Trump administration should be viewed with skeptical (at best) eyes. I would further posit that that the same majority of posters are less likely to cast that same skepticism to any output of the Biden administration.

You seem to be implying that is some sort of gotcha. If the claim is that there is some team politics coloring this difference, I would agree. But, would you agree that there is a significant baseline difference in overall competence and corruption between the two administrations that would also explain the different reactions?

I think that we are in agreement then.

WRT the FDA's assessment of a COVID vaccine under each admin, and differences in competence?  No, not really a big difference imo.

If you recall the regulatory history, the FDA tied up PFE with needless negotiation around sample size under Trump, thus delaying the read out of the data.  They are doing the same thing again under Biden with the pediatric study. Competence wrt moving things quickly in the setting of a global pandemic appears relatively stable to me.

I had a breakthrough infection i posted about somewhere above and it lasted about 2 weeks. Mostly just a cough, short breath, and requiring a lot of sleep. Glad I was vaccinated, I can't imagine getting hit with that at full force. I've now had 3 negative tests, so its behind me.

The other day I learned a friend had canceled a vacation with no explanation why. I texted her and said I heard the news and hoped she's OK. Her response was that she and her boyfriend were sick with COVID and they blame me, im the only person they know who had it.

I asked if they were vaccinated. She unloads that "everybody is attacking us for not being vaccinated and its really not fair!" Says they were being extra careful wearing masks etc. Her boyfriend was the kind who never wore his mask during the mandate, or it was under his nose like an idiot if he did. She's a bartender.

I'm sorry they got sick, but I'm not sure how much guilt I should carry.

Meanwhile I get into it with the guy who runs the pizza shop next door, who's a friend. Its a Brazilian family. He tells me he moved to this country for freedom and he doesn't need the government telling him what to do, etc. I tell him he has a responsibility to our neighbors who are buying prepared food from him, but he says its ok cause he always wears his mask when he's in the restaurant.

Says they are thinking about moving to Florida where there's more freedom. During the election it was Texas they were thinking about moving to for the same reason. Obviously they were pro-Trump.

This is in San Francisco where vaccination rates are above 70%. Now we're back to a fucking mask mandate.

I was around my in laws and their unvaccinated kids last weekend.  I hope they don't get it, but I feel zero guilt.  I am vaccinated, doubly so, and have done everything I've been supposed to be doing for a year and a half.

I'm struggling to figure why you should feel any inkling of guilt. Blaming someone else for giving you covid is dumb as shit in general, doubly so if the someone else is vaccinated, eleventy billionly so if they're vaccinated and you're not.

Seriously, though, you shouldn't feel one single bit of guilt regarding the bartender. This is on her and her alone. Fuck her if she can't figure that out.

Oh, and Brazilian pizza sounds gross. You're better off if he heads to the land of DeSantis and Dotard.

So I just tested positive. For those not keeping score at home, I got J&J in March and a supplemental Pfizer last Monday. Started feeling off on Friday (after extremely mild post-vaccine reaction) and realized I couldn’t smell or taste anything.

Two vaccines and delta (I’m assuming) don’t give a fuck. Probably still to early for Pfizer to have any effect, but still.

Have felt achy and sinus pressure for a few days, but nothing too bad. Add me to the case pile. Hopefully not the hospital or body pile.

I wonder how many mild cases are circulating through vaxxed people right now.  Probably a lot more than the tests suggest.  Wife and I came down with something last week.  Felt like a mild cold.  Fatigue and runny nose for both of us.  We just stayed at home for several days until it passed - we were both over it in 72 hours.  Now I'm thinking we should have gotten tested.  I don't think it was COVID, but it could have been.  Would be good to know.

My anti-vaxx sister just told me not to worry because she knows over 75 people that have had Covid and they were all fine. Who the fuck knows that many people that have had Covid!?!  Either a) these are Facebook “friends” or b) she just hangs out with a ton of other anti-vaxxers that have spread this shit to god knows how many others.

If an unvaxxed person blamed me for getting COVID I might start laughing in their face.   You chose to remain unvaccinated.  I had nothing to do with that decision.

Yeah, I know dumb people can graduate from the best of colleges.  When I read "Cambridge-educated"  I thought perhaps that type of person would have a general understanding of how 'the jab' gave you antibodies.  That's the entire purpose of 'the jab' right?  And then 'vlogging' your mistake for the world to see going all the way to death being wrong.  At age 58.  Well, maybe that part helps someone.  Maybe.

No, I had J&J.

SF General is now offering Moderna or Pfizer boosters to anybody who had the J&J. I have to wait a month since I've been positive.

I’m driving down to get my booster tomorrow. Word is it’s running through bars and restaurant staffs all over town.

That would jive with my ancidotal evidence. I know of one bar that shut down for a few days recently because of an outbreak. Most bars here (SF) are now requiring evidence of vaccine to enter, including the one I live above. That's one of the ones where the unvaccinated friend who's sick and blamed me works.

BTW, the owner of this bar is a close friend of mine, family really. She knew about all this before I did and was pissed to learn she had an unvaccinated person on staff putting her customers and 8yo daughter at risk. She told me that I carry zero blame.

My stance since the vax has been widely available has been that ill still wear a mask when I go into places that people have to enter, even if they are in a group that can't vaccinate (there are a few such groups). Stores, barber shop, public transit, laundry, etc. But I'm not wearing one where it's a luxury. If your in a bar or restaurant and unvaccinated, that's on you. Still, it sucks when it happens to a close friend. I really feel bad if I had a part in her getting sick, even if she was the one being an idiot.

On a side note, most people here are fine with being asked for proof of vaccination. There was worry that there would be blowback, but most people actually say "thank you" when asked for proof. One guy even said thank you and that he'd be happy to return after he gets his 2nd dose as he was denied entry.

A GoFundMe or a GoFuckYourself?  Because when it comes to that guy I'm picking the latter.

Lol does @ChickenSandwich work for the State of Florida or something? State refuses to give daily coronavirus data to Seminole County

Quote

After taking the county's COVID-19 dashboard down when cases dropped, Seminole County emergency management leaders have put it back up, now that cases are increasing.

A big part of Seminole County’s emergency management operation is ensuring county residents have easy access to coronavirus data.

However, leaders say that’s become more complicated, because the state has refused to give them daily coronavirus data like they did in the past.

Instead, they’re having to get the case data from the CDC, and they’re having to call area hospitals for updates about COVID-19 hospitalizations.

Seminole County Emergency Manager Alan Harris said it is more difficult now, but their goal is to make sure everyone has accurate information about the pandemic.

“We want to be as transparent as possible, and unfortunately, Tallahassee has said they’re not going to provide that daily data," he said. "So we’re trying to make sure the community has the information they need to make appropriate decisions."

Harris said he isn't sure why the state is reluctant to share its data with his office.

Spectrum News reached out to Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office to ask why the state has refused to send daily data to the county but have not yet heard back.

'member when DT was all gung-ho that FLURDAH was the model to follow in how we handle COVID? I 'member.

Its a normal pizza shop, actually a pretty good one. The family that runs it happen to be from Brazil. They do have a Brazilian food section on the menu that's hit or miss, but thebpizzas are solid.

I have a similar Brazilian pizza joint down the street. I wonder if I walk into the correct storeroom, if I'd pop back out in the one in San Francisco?

I support the city’s proposed vax requirement (I live in SF too). The mask mandate is pointless without capacity requirements - we’re back in that absurd early June phase where folks wear there masks from the door to the table/bar and promptly toss their masks aside as they sit down.

Rep. Ralph Norman, one of the three congressional Republicans suing Speaker Nancy Pelosi over fines for not wearing masks during a vote on the U.S. House floor, has contracted a breakthrough case of COVID-19, the second member of South Carolina's delegation to do so.

pretty sure you guys in the US are getting the best of it IMO. get to herd, get quick vaccine access, dumb ones get it, and the beat rolls on.

down here in Oz we have limited vaccine access, dumb ones not getting it (covid that is), and we aren't anywhere close to herd immunity because of it. as an example Melbourne went into a snap lockdown - a real lockdown btw - with 2 new cases yesterday. TWO. cases came up at 3pm - city shut down at 8pm.

the Double Boomers who run this country are protecting their 80 year old mothers proper. and the rest of us are some kind of social experiment. sadly the average aussie is the most docile biped i have ever run across. c'est la vie
