I do both, twat. But I can’t read when I’m making my kid dinner.

Yeah, well you can't absorb news in a meaningful way then either.

You are a generally well written and thoughtful poster, so I know you clearly can read and and take in information. Think about the detrimental impact cable news has on society and don't propagate that is all I'm saying. You are using it a sort of background noise narcotic.

Meh, I think that Town Hall did more to hurt Trump than CNN.

I agree.  In 2020 CNN gave one of these townhalls to just about any declared candidate.  I don't see the big deal about doing it again this time.  I didn't watch because why would I but I'm sure it was Trump playing the hits.

Since Trump doesn't have the decency to die or go away (probably going to have to be the same thing), I want him on TV as much as possible.  The only way he wins is if people forget and get complacent.

Agreed.  As long as CNN gives an equal forum to Biden, including the cherry-picked audience, there's no problem.  And Trump didn't win any undecideds with that display.

Also, it's important for people to hear what the other side is hearing.  I feel like the vast majority of Americans spend most of their time in their own echo chamber.  Putting Trump on might have been a ratings move for CNN, but it also might have shocked a few youngs people into actually showing up on election day, or expressing their horror on social media, etc.

I say give this piece of shit as much airtime as he wants.  It should cost him, and if it doesn't, then shame on us.

I don't, but I"ll start to look As other posters have said, I need something that repeats. Finding a finite time slot to watch the news isn't feasible. Maybe I need to DVR it.

I DVR PBS newshour and BBC world news every night. Rarely get around to watching them, but those are my go-to news programs.

i'm still laughing about how they launched a CNN+ app that didn't include CNN. and then shut it down in like 6 hours. I wonder how long Jeff Immelt would have lasted if his whole portfolio was TV channels that live broadcasted his obvious fuck ups.

CNN+ ran into the buzzsaw that the cable providers were never going to allow streaming for the main CNN channel without a cable subscription. They pay too much for that shared-exclusive rights.  Also didn't help that CNN switched owners as it was launching.  Dead from the jump.

CNN trying to undo a decade+ of right wing vilification of CNN is not going as they hoped?

They really saw the backlash 60 minutes received and said, "Hold my beer."

Nobody with any sense is surprised.

Right wingnuts still don' watch CNN and now they pissed off the people who used to watch CNN.

I really don't know how they could have believed this would work out well for them.

Warner Bros. Discovery Boss Boasts ‘Republicans Are Back on the Air’ at CNN

Republicans are back on the air. Republicans weren’t on the air,” David Zaslavsaid during an appearance at the MoffettNathanson conference. The Warner boss also claimed that he and CNN boss Chris Licht have told Republicans that appearing on CNN could help them at the ballot boxes.

Ah, so it's OK for MAGA to behave like howler monkeys, BUT NO MORE IN THE FUTURE.

Howler monkeys live in Costa Rica and other tan people countries, and are thus a threat to replace us, vote in (Howler monkey) socialism, and do scary things like reviving abandoned downtowns with thriving businesses. But I'll give em one thing, they'll sling the poop that lazy Americans are too good to sling.

I genuinely believe a more profitable network could follow the old Headline News format, no frills 30 minute non commentary news highlights.  Record new 30 minute show 4 times and day and repeat, break in during real events as needed.

But apparently, I'm entirely wrong on this.

Headline news was the way to do it. The actual news, repeated over and over so that anyone could tune in for 15 minutes and catch up.

I want this and I would like Christi Paul to be the host in the evening.

They will.  There's not enough eyeballs and ad dollars to attract enough viewers 18 hours per day.  It's not only not a lucrative business any more, it's quick kill business.  CNN's death will be faster than the others because they're still playing the game like it's 1995.

And Boebert and all the other dipshits will still tweet out Go Woke, Go Broke memes.

I'm guessing Zaslav will hire that guy who was CFO at SVB and Lehman Brothers to right the ship.

That was so crazy I had to look it up.  It's not true, though.

Gentile not tied to Silicon Valley Bank, Lehman Brothers collapse

California’s Silicon Valley Bank collapsed on March 10 after the bank's shares lost over $160 billion in value over a 24-hour period and depositors withdrew their money in panic, as USA TODAY reported.

This was brutal

I will never understand the hubris of leaders that want a reporter shadowing them. I suppose there is some appeal to having a person around to listen to you pontificate on your brilliant decisions, or how they can document your successes. However it's 10x better that at the top of your success you wish you had previously embedded a journalist as opposed to doing so and regretting it later.

Who knows. It's not like people think highly of the Warner-Discovery leadership either. Time will tell but the media world is laughing at them for dropping the HBO Max name to Max.  We have a highly regarded brand name in HBO. Let's think about dropping it and adding a bunch of crap from our reality networks.

Anderson Cooper hosting a townhall with Chris Christie. That's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see how it plays out for them. Though Anderson might not just get rolled over like Caitlin did with Trumps.

I’m curious if Christie’s actual angle is simply to try and deprogram some of the Rs. He knows he can’t win.

I'm more skeptical that his Presidential runs are more about staying relevant and it gives him the 1% chance of success if something wild happens.

It's really surprising to me that Cruz hasn't announced because why wouldn't he?
