This.  It's not just Occam's razor (people in charge were faced with a novel, deadly virus spreading in pandemic fashion, and cobbled together the best path they could on the fly, as they were dealing with huge buckets of knowns (overwhelmed medical system, high body counts) and huge buckets of unknowns (too many to count)).  They took approaches that included a significant element of caution.  In RETROSPECT, now that we have more info and better data, they got somethings right and some things wrong.

I know this because I was literally "in the room" as decision-makers (at lower levels -- think local governments and such) were grappling with what to do, how to do it, where to find the resources to do it, etc.  These were just ordinary human beings, wrestling with an incredible responsibility, facing horrific outcomes (yeah, some of the conversations were absolutely about where do we store all these bodies, shit, where can we even park the trailers we're using to store all these bodies?  Bodies that included their friends and neighbors, BTW).  There was no sinister conspiracy hatched in a mountain lair.  Just human beings, doing their imperfect best to handle an unprecedented crisis.  That, yes, killed literally millions of people, so it was sure as shit a real thing.

There's nothing worse than Monday morning quarterbacking a (hopefully) once in a lifetime public health crisis.  We were in totally uncharted waters. Of course some things could have been done better.

And everyone was saying that in real time. "This is a novel coronavirus. We are going to get some things wrong because of that." Fauci said shit like that all the time.

On my point about autism, and the fact that there almost certainly is no "increase in cases of autism because we are poisoning our kids with vaccines/tylenol," see this evaluation from someone who cares so much about autism he has literally dedicated his life and career to researching and treating it:  https://publichealth.jhu.edu/2025/is-there-an-autism-epidemic

Quote

What's behind this increase?

There are two main reasons for the increase. The first is the broadened definition of Autism Spectrum Disorder, which means that more people are meeting this definition now than previously.

Second, there have been many widely successful public health programs that increased screening at wellness visits for children ages 18–24 months to look for signs of autism. Parents, caregivers, and community members are also more aware of the symptoms, and autism is being more accepted in the community. People are not as afraid to seek help and know where to go when they have concerns.

There are concerns that the increase in autism diagnoses is because something is causing more children to be affected by the condition. Is this accurate?

Changes in the diagnostic criteria and increased screening at wellness visits seem to be the main contributors. There have been a few studies over the past two years that have looked at a specific subgroup of individuals on the spectrum who frequently need 24-hour-a-day support and care from a caregiver, often have very limited verbal communication skills, or have intellectual disability that co-occurs with autism.

The data has shown that rates of autism for that subgroup have increased minimally, if at all, over the past nearly 10 years.

Rates have increased the most for individuals who are not in that subgroup, who may have more subtle phenotypes and fewer significant co-occurring conditions. We think this is most likely due to our ability to identify these subtle traits and symptoms better.

Occam's.

Fucking.

If it’s Tylenol why are we banning vaccines?

The same reason we need to award Trump the Nobel Prize for Operation Warp Speed which helped save millions of lives and simultaneously harmed people.

as a trial lawyer, i was simultaneously stunned and damn near pissed my pants laughing at any trial lawyer who would specifically state the actual brand name “Tylenol” as being the cause of autism; in doing so he opened a giant Pandora’s Box of litigation against him and the administration.  yet I’m not shocked he did because he’s a regarded village idiot.

Simply, add it to the massive pile of  evidence that the dickwad is quite a few fries short of a Happy Meal and doesn’t know shit about fuck.

fucking bring it, J & J.   file that motherfucker toDAY, and the first Tuesday after 20 days subpoena his insane ass for depo…with an attached duces tecum (thank you very much)’ordering him to produce at depo ALL the shit they have.

C'mon dude. You KNOW that J&J is going to cave and bribe their way out of this just like every other spineless corporation in this country. Their CEO will be in the oval office presenting Trump with a solid gold child-proof bottle this week.

Tylenol's manufacturer, Kenvue, is independent of J&J.  But it is a hugely valid point that it should have been referred to as acetominophen.

this one hits a bit different from a legal and PR perspective.  like the fired bullet can’t be put back in the chamber, they can’t unfuck this one.  the damage is done, no walking it back.

even if they’re willing to reneg on everything they just claimed re: autism (but they won’t…these Trumpian fuckasses’ MO is to never admit error), J&J/Kenvue has still suffered irreparable damages to reputation and is now and will continue to suffer pecuniary losses.

and J & J has leverage here: they just committed to investing ~$500 mil in a domestic production facility that the admin was recently touting.

“oh the hell you say what about Tylenol?  we’re having second thoughts on that facility due to the very recent downturn in stock because of this.  btw, here’s your lawsuit.”

they’re kind of sitting real purty on this one, and if they’re committed to best practices as a corporate enterprise they’ll file quickly and give no quarter.

“Lanier Law Firm, how can I help you?  Mark Lanier?  And who may I  ask is calling?  Oh, let me put you  right through.”

Would Preacher Mark sue the Trump administration?  I honestly don't know where he comes out on this.

Immunity will be a problem regardless.

Seems like there has been an ongoing line of inquiry into APAP exposure and neurodevelopmental issues. Wasn't something I was aware of at all. Here is a systematic review published last month. Lead author from Mt Sinai, senior author from Harvard TH Chan: https://ehjournal.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12940-025-01208-0

Man, that's a epi challenge. You will never get a definitive answer. Exposure misclassification (OTC drug), impossible to assess all the potential confounders, outcome potentially influenced by variety of genetic and environmental exposures, unethical to do RCT work. The swedish study cited up thread is included in the review, and discussed in some detail in the discussion section. Even if you see an association, you are never gonna pull the drug...guidance will be as it is in current state...minimize dose and duration as indicated.

Results

We identified 46 studies for inclusion in our analysis. Of these, 27 studies reported positive associations (significant links to NDDs), 9 showed null associations (no significant link), and 4 indicated negative associations (protective effects). Higher-quality studies were more likely to show positive associations. Overall, the majority of the studies reported positive associations of prenatal acetaminophen use with ADHD, ASD, or NDDs in offspring, with risk-of-bias and strength-of-evidence ratings informing the overall synthesis.

Conclusions

Our analyses using the Navigation Guide thus support evidence consistent with an association between acetaminophen exposure during pregnancy and increased incidence of NDDs. Appropriate and immediate steps should be taken to advise pregnant women to limit acetaminophen consumption to protect their offspring’s neurodevelopment.

Oh, and if this is type of stuff they are talking about in the Sept big reveal, it is as I expected. No new novel data, or studies. It's not even meta analytic work, just a lit review. Should not move the needle in a substantive way at all. Maybe they announce funding for studies, but certainly not landing anything substantive.

I am 100% in favor of studies into the interactions and side effects of drugs like acetaminophen.

I am 100% convinced that RFKjr and his buddies are not promoting good science.

Not sure I learned and certainly don't recall the specific MOA either. NSAIDs of course, and CoxII's. Fn Merck man.

His buddies at Mt Sinai and TH Chan. Shit they are regretting that paper at this moment, and probably looking for ways to walk it back.

Or angling for the gov grant funding, more likely. Nothing like that tit.

You know it’s funny about autism. Yes of course the broader definition and wider screening play a role, but there’s this one HUGE risk factor that is well understood, isn’t even controversial, and it increases the risk of autism by ~20%.  It also increases the risk of many other things.

But people don’t want to hear about it.

Being old.

That’s correct. And whereas the age of the mother is relevant as well, the age related risk that gets almost no public discussion at all is the age of the father.  And what’s really interesting is that the age of a father also seems to impact the outcomes for their grandchildren, likely because of the relationship between paternal age and mutations of dominant genes.

i assume you mean age at time of conception?  b/c I’m convinced as i aged and my 3 boys aged they all became autistic as fuck when they turned 15 or so…saying and doing all sorts of crazy shit, destroying bathrooms, forgetting to wipe their ass or doing it on purpose in some attempt to “musk up.”  fuck i don’t know, bunch of gross, ignorant, stupid ass autistic little shits.

here’s the kicker: the two oldest are 25 and 23 and apparently grew out of it.

yet i got older.

the 19 y/o?  autistic as fuck…ragamon dressing, no ass pulling, wanting to buy a $400 Ford Mustang to “fix up cheap” and farting in the clothes dryer before he dries his clothes little fuck.

yet i got older.

i need some science here, bro.
