An X2.8 flare (R3) occurred from Region 3514; located over the far NW area of the Sun. This is likely one of the largest solar radio events ever recorded. Radio communication interference with aircraft were reported by multiple NWS Center Weather Service Units (CWSU) co-located at FAA facilities. These impacts were felt from one end of the Nation to the other.

I am today year's old when I learned the Sun had a 'Northwest Area' and their 'solar radio event' accent is almost as horrifying as what's about to happen to our planet.  Thankfully, it's coming up on the longest night of the year next week so we should be fine.  Right?  Shit, forgot about the Solstice-Christmas part.  Dammit!  This is why we can't have nice things...

So let me see if I follow....are you saying we should download some emergency porn real quick, or are we already in the clear?

Only if you were looking at it through satellite internet earlier this afternoon.  That part is done.

This part, I don't know if it's done: "Additionally, SWPC is analyzing a possible Earth-directed Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) associated with this flare. "

Because I don't know how long it would take a Coronal Mass Ejection to reach the Earth.

FIFY - We are fucked. Unless it is just the tip. It's just the tip right?

Seriously, how does a sphere have a northwest area?

Well yeah, because we needed ways to map landmasses.  It’s just a giant ball of fire.  It had magnetic fields, but there’s no need for east/west.

admittedly though, I am a flat sunner.  There are no stars people!  It’s all an illusion!!!

The San Antonio sports radio broadcast was all fucked up this morning. Was that it?

I noticed that yesterday, it sounded like they were broadcasting on a ham radio from a shack in Mexico. The signal quality was dropping every few blocks as I drove down the road.

So Y2K but for real?

No but we potentially have ~25 years to live with the electrified world before the sun pops off another Carrington level event then it's sayonara to our modern way of life as we get beat back into the stone ages.  If you want to go down the rabbit hole I suggest you check out the Gleissberg cycle and look at all the catastrophes that happened during the Dalton minimum back in the early 1800s.  Big ones being Mount Tambora in 1815 which triggered the year without a summer as well as the 1811-12 New Madrid trio of earthquakes that caused the Mississippi River to go retrograde.

Eventually we will figure out the sun controls the plate tectonics, earthquakes, and volcanoes and as we make our way though the galaxy big events start happening on some pretty common cycles.  The Holocene is running out of time since the Younger Dryas and our future is cold no matter what histrionics you get from the dipshit mainstream media they have a vested interest in deceiving the masses.

I'm no survivalist but make sure you go out and enjoy the perks of modern life while you still can because a combination of dystopian depopulationist governments hell bent on full control will continue wiping out your freedoms then comes the sun to reset the matrix and but a few of us will survive.

It’s always funny when I hear tech bros spouting off about colonizing Mars.  I guess they dropped out of Stanford or MIT before they got to the section about radiation and the human body.

They also forgot about how long it takes to get there (all the way in zero G) and what the gravity is like there versus here.  If they want to go to Mars, I’m all for it though.

That YouTube channel is more sketchy than those two somewhat innocuous clips make it seem.

Suspicious Observers (Suspicious0bservers) is a pseudoscience YouTube channel run by ex-lawyer Ben Davidson who has a degree in economics from Denison University and a Juris Doctorate from Capital University Law School, but no actual science training. His ideas have been debunked by genuine climate scientists.[1] He has various websites on which he sells his scribblings and tickets to his "annual conference".[notes 1] Davidson makes far-fetched claims about dozens of scientists attending his conferences and conversing secretly with him, but there has only been one notable name at any of his meetings — John Coleman, another notable climate denier.

How is your Stockholm Syndrome doing bruh?

I have been following Ben for ~5 years and he's been infinitely more accurate than your dipshit fact checking brigade.

After the last two Blastfurnace editions, sign me the fuck up.

Well with the way Solar Cycle 25 is shaping up when we bottom out in the transition to Solar Cycle 26 we are primed for the first VEI 7 event since then.

Remember Pliny the Younger documented the Vesuvius eruption in 79 giving us the term Plinian explosions. You can also get a taster of Pliny the Younger from Russian River at Boonville Beer Festival on May 4th so there is that ;-)
