Is it too much to hope that AI figures out that the best thing for humanity is to rid the world of tech billionaires?

So maybe Skynet becoming self aware wasn’t such a bad thing after all.

He sold Twitter today.

No, really.

Elon Musk said on Friday that his xAI has acquired X, the social media app formerly known as Twitter, in an all-stock transaction for $45 billion, including debt.

"xAI and X's futures are intertwined. Today, we officially take the step to combine the data, models, compute, distribution and talent," Musk said in a post on X, adding that the combined company would be valued at $80 billion.

The billionaire's AI startup, which was launched in 2023, recently raised $6 billion from investors at a valuation of $40 billion, sources have told Reuters.

I love that he's merging X and xAi (can't say AIX or IBM gets involved).

Now we need him to merge Tesla and xAIx as well as SpaceX and Neuralink and Boring.

Elon Musk Sells X, Formerly Twitter, for $33 Billion to His AI Startup

Isn't that just straight up money laundering/insider trading/whatever?  Like he's literally buying his own company at an inflated price?

It's all just bullshit because there's no actual market for either stock as they aren't publicly traded.

My guess is that he's trying to imbue Xitter with the hysterical bullshit that is AI.

If you want a good TLDR on this drama watch part of this Philip Defranco vid, starts at 12:40. Right wing gamers are up in arms over the new Assassin's Creed game because it has dual protagonists that are a woman and a black guy and Elon is slurping it up and getting cooked left and right.

i got about two minutes into it and it's just 13 year old girl shit. holy fuck.

So I’m trying to figure out who gets fucked in twitter getting sold to Elon’s company. I guess the original investors and lenders that bought Twitter have their positions rolled over into this bigger entity. Given that, whoever is investing in his AI company just bought an inflated asset. But given that the ai company is also an inflated asset, it doesn’t really matter. So, in summary

I cannot emphasize it enough - GamerGate and that hate machine that spun up in the early 20-teens is the nitro that fuels trumpco and trumpism. Steve Bannon has said it himself many times, this is from a 2017 interview about how he learned from playing WoW how to "activate" a troll army

"I realized Milo could connect with these kids right away," Bannon told Green. "You can activate that army. They come in through Gamergate or whatever and then get turned onto politics and Trump."

It's been going on for more than a decade now, and is basically the background radiation in gaming and entertainment

Yeah it's gross but it's not dominant or anything. It's a very vocal section though. I love wow and came back to it recently after about a 10 year break. The player base now (for classic at least) is solid millenial dads 30-45. Most people are normal but like every other aspect of american society the maga idiots love to let everyone know they are maga and revel in being disruptive assholes.

Best I can figure, he’s trying to get twitter lumped in with his ai company so he can take the whole thing public again and get an ai valuation from it.

So I guess it’s the rubes that buy it then that get fucked.

Which will somehow include all of our mutual funds and ETFs, because it will immediately shoot into the S&P 500, just like Tesla and other overvalued crap heeps.

I would not be shocked if Elon is sued by the xAI investors for saddling them with debt they presumably didn’t want considering they didn’t invest in X. That’s also hardly the market rate cost for the platform. But hard to know if the bulk of the investment in XAI know that this king of grifting comes with the territory.

is it possible this was also a leveraged purchase so now X is going to be paying off 2 loans from acquisitions?

Posted

His other twitter investors were always quick to release bad X numbers to the press, and most likely he couldn’t stop providing the numbers to them and prevent them from leaking them. I assume they are now AI shareholders but who know maybe Elon paid some of the in cash (AI raised capital) to get rid of them. More details will come out.

i also would discount the idea that he’s hurting depending on how much he’s borrowed against his Tesla shares. Perhaps this sale somehow played into that.

Elon is not hurting for cash. He can loan against Starlink/spacex/TSLA shares in the private market for a sum of money with so many zeros that the average American couldn't comprehend.

Morgan Stanley is happy to loan against those shares at a super low rate. They don’t even give a shit they got burned on Twitter debt. The flim flam man keeps the wizard of Oz act going for now.
