Is she talking about the embryos or all the Americans sleeping by the streets and highways because we refuse socialized universal health and mental health care, and access to affordable housing?

Honest question and wondering if this should be its own thread but when the cunt from Alabama was asking if you are better off now or 4 years ago what is your answer?  For me I am better off now and I feel the country is also.  I am curious who on Surly was doing great 4 years ago and now Biden has ruined their life or maybe vice versa.  Or maybe you are better off or worse and it has nothing to do with who is president.

For those that survived Covid, they're probably better off now.  Also, those that had their college loan burden eased, they should feel more control of their livelihood.  I know we're all a whole lot safer now that a lunatic isn't in the WH. Cheers to the temporary riddance of stolen cofefe and hamberders.

I hope you don’t think I think that? I just know what the talking points would be prior to the speech. But I didn’t have “sleepy senile Joe had TOO MUCH energy” on my bingo card. That was a surprise square

I wasn’t sure when you wrote back on pg. 1: “Also despite being old and senile, they knew he’s quick on his feet with a good comeback and a folksy smile.” I was hoping you were just characterizing the messaging from the opposition but I wasn’t certain. Going back I see an earlier post where you said: “Yeah, it doesn’t matter. He could knock it out of the park and it will still be that he is ‘old’ ‘senile’ ‘sounds awful’ ‘not important’ ‘doesn’t change anything.’” I even repped that post but I guess I forgot about it pretty quickly. Sorry for doubting you.

Joe is old, sure. But he’s anything but senile. And anyone who’s followed his career at all over the past few decades knows that he’s prone to the occasional verbal gaffe. That’s just part of the package. But he knows the issues and knows the process and how things work. And frankly, I’m glad we’ve got an old cold warrior like Joe taking on Vladimir Putin rather than Liz Warren or Pete Buttigieg. Would either of them have been able to rally and expand NATO like Joe did in the face of Russian aggression? I’m not so sure. Biden has already cemented his place in the history books with that accomplishment. Having the Swedish Prime Minister in the house sitting next to the First Lady on the day that they were fully admitted to the alliance was a slam dunk. Ronald Reagan would be proud.

"Misleading stories" is giving them too much grace. People like Britt are despicable, lying pieces of shit and need to be removed from the political arena with prejudice.

This right here.  I miss the good old days when a politician was caught in a lie they would have to apologize for it, maybe even lose their job over it.  Now if you flat out lie, nobody seems to care as long as it tells the narrative for your side.  Every news outlet in America should be calling her out on this and doing articles about it.  It should end up being called Rapegate or something but then again that could refer to dozens of Trump crimes so maybe a better name than that.  Rage inducing to me.

Also, not the Jonathan Katz I was hoping for. I want to see that in Squigglevision.

Yet there is no mechanism for accountability on something this bad. Like how the fuck does the FCC not need to put out a statement correcting a public official who intentionally lies like this over public airwaves. I get that inaccuracies and whatever are hard, but this is straight up a lie from a sitting elected official on nationally broadcast television. There should be some type of accountability otherwise anyone can just go on tv and say whatever they want.

That all brown people are rapist murders cartel-ers.
Seriously. It’s not much more than that. Same with the Laken Riley murder. The point is that any brown person in the US is a threat to murder you.

Is squigglevision like how we used to watch soft core porn in the 80’s?

also this Britt story bullshit is going to replace the “and this man came up to me with tears in his eyes” Trump Trope.  “And this trafficked victim from Mexico came up to me to tell me her story with tears in her eyes.  In front of Congress, when I wasn’t a member.  Ten years ago when I was in Alabama getting my realtor license and we never met in real life and I didn’t know Where Washington DC was located on a map.  But it’s still real to me goddamit!”

Mom's and Dad's just like me? I see nothing on the counters except a bucket of greenery and a tea kettle on the stove. Not buying that fakery.

I'm surprised they didn't try to make some dough off of product placement.  Goya would have ante'd up, I'm sure.

They're saving this guy for closer to the election:

Quote

Angel Maturino Reséndiz (August 1, 1959 – June 27, 2006), also known as The Railroad Killer, was a Mexican serial killer suspected in as many as 23 murders across the United States and Mexico during the 1990s. Some also involved sexual assault. He had become known as "The Railroad Killer", as most of his crimes were committed near railroads, where he had jumped off the trains which he was using to travel around the country.

It's such an obvious lie that belittles a larger issue. There will always be human trafficking and yes we should do what we can to stop it. But to lay it at Joe Biden's feet when it also happened under Trump is so typically Republican.

Are you better off than you were 3 years ago? You mean when people were still dying from Covid, the economy was in the shitter, millions had lost their jobs, and people were having to sustain themselves on Covid relief funds and unemployment? Uh...yeah. We are.

It's not like Democrats are unaware of how Republicans practice politics. They need to get better at responding to it.

We also don't have to worry about our president overthrowing democracy and installing himself as a dictator. So, you know, that's nice too.

The problem is conservative voters have become just as disingenuous as their political party and the pundits.

The truth doesn't matter to them. Only an agenda. But they constantly talk about truth. Ultimate gaslighters.

Oh you think senile Joe only wants a 2nd term? He’s busy rigging this election and then the day after he takes office again he’s naming himself dictator for life. It’ll also be written into law that Hunter will be named president upon his death so get ready for a whole lot of wild parties at the White House.

Dotard was just talking about the SOTU. "Angry, hate-filled rant. He's a threat to democracy."

Again, this was Dotard, talking about Biden. He also made fun of his stutter, for good measure.

I was at Spec's today so this hits close to home the kitchen, except no on the box wine.

Sure wish I could hear @Bama Chick's take on this latest Alabama guttergump.

She actually had mentioned her before but I think it was more sorority stuff
