I forget what football game I was watching this weekend when this long commercial extolling the joys of Las Vegas came on.

I imagine that the next meeting of Clark County bankruptcy attorneys will be filled with high-fives and Champagne corks popping.

I’m at Las Vegas airport coming back to Texas as we speak. First time I’ve been to LV in about 12 years.

This place is cooked. It’s not all because of Trump obviously, but the downfall has been sped up dramatically.

Fuck those putos.  I'm going in  a casino, and you want to charge me to park?  I feel bad for the service employees, but the Wynn's and Adelson's can get bent.

Don't get me wrong, if you can separate their racism from the art (often difficult because of the racism in the art), Wayne and Ford made some iconic fucking Westerns.

But Jimmy Stewart and Randolph Scott both made better ones.

looked for the blazing saddles "randolph Scott" song and couldn't find it

It blows my mind that Orange County has his name on their airport along with a statue of him in the terminal.

Have you ever been to OC?  It's to be expected.

Bottom line, being a white male puts you above the law, and nobody else is entitled to any protection under the law.  That is the rule.  They have made it plain and clear.

Before long that won’t apply to white males who are registered Democrats.

Have you? His progressive tendencies are pretty obvious if you watch with any sort of discerning eye its clear he's subverting audience expectations and a commentary on the nature of truth vs myth in history. You probably watched the Searchers and thought John Wayne was the hero vs the savage indians, ignoring everything about the ending where Ethan is outcast from society or the fact that all the violent acts shown were performed by whtes against indians and how Scar had literally the same motivations as Ethan. Hell Ford was the original woke hollywood liberal discussing race and integration during the civil rights movement, he literally tells you that in the Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. John Fords movies had racist characters but so did Schindler's List.

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance is genius use of irony throughout. In the school house scene where Stoddard is teaching about the Constitution, you have a woman and a Black man proclaiming about the right to vote and equality. That's not an accident. The whole movie turns on the legend being more important than the truth.

John Wayne was a draft-dodging, right-wing dickhead. Not John Ford.

Hell, Ford used actual Indians in his films and was embraced by that community.

Is there a joke I'm missing? Why would you have anyone sign a picture of your family and not, ya know, a picture of themselves?

He's Maga. He's not smart. Somehow he fucking got into West Point. He's now a shitty congressman in a shitty district in Houston (yes mine), and He's making a play at running for Senator. Fuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That felt good.

Fuck him and his affinity for mushroom flavored, spray tained orange dicks.

The entire Trump experience has been a remarkable view into the roles shame and personal accountability play in society.  There have been dozens (hundreds?) of instances where if Trump had merely been like "yeah, I fucked up", his political career would probably have ended.  But instead, his obsession with denials and whatabouts have made him almost bulletproof.  It would be astonishing if it weren't so harmful.

The power of absolute shamelessness. His principal trait becomes/always was the principal trait of his hard core following.

I haven’t been a huge fan of Rage’s music but I sat across from him at a restaurant that had community seating. Super smart guy. Actually, he blew me away with how smart he was. Nice too.

…and Jimmy Stewart flew 20 combat missions in a B-24, including missions over Berlin and Nuremberg (that was flying into Flack Alley).   He enlisted as a private and ended the war as a Colonel.   He was awarded two Distinguished Flying Crosses with Oakleaf clusters, the Air Medal, and a Croix de Guerre.  He was a freaking Brigadier General in the Air Force reserve.

John Wayne took the movie roles of better actors who were serving in the war.

Jimmy Stewart featured prominently in the book called The Big Week. Interesting look at the biggest bombing week leading up to D-Day.

Also a St John's graduate. But I'm sure admission into both had nothing to do with race during the heyday of affirmative action.

Well, word from the 2a tough guys is that they're sitting this out, because they're not going to defend others that should be defending themselves. I'm sure they'll stand up and fight the next time civil liberties are threatened . . .

They're arguing about a signature on a picture (with no actual argument to even make), when everyone knows Trump and Epstein were good friends for about 15 years. Epstein's prime rapin' and sex trafficking years. Let's just all skip over that part and argue about one picture. That's the genius.

Have you talked to any trumpers? They don't have the mental capacity to hold more than one thought or concept in their head at a time. Artificially limiting context is a powerful mechanism for reinforcing their delusions.

I quote this movie to this day.

I know it has lots of accolades, but somehow I feel like it’s not given its due.

One of my favorite comedies to this day. Very much ahead of its time and I would be subversive again somehow with all this trans / drag backlash.
