Agreed, but it still sucks and will cause some issues. I sent two stations money this week in anticipation of this. One was Marfa Public Radio, because I love their content.

That one was on my mind. It's a charming little station, and *I think* the only one you can get when you're in town.

Where cuts are going to hurt is in areas like production of content at the local level. Shows like Think out of DFW and The Daytripper out of Austin. New content is probably hosed.

Some Things Considered, imo.

Law Enforcement: Here’s one. He was marching next to you on January 6. Here’s another. He’s a local GOP party leader. Oh, and we found another one. He’s the youth minister at your church.

I don't think this job is stressful for Trump at all, at least not mentally and emotionally.  He doesn't give shit about fuck, like other presidents who have genuine worry 24/7 about the economy, national security issues, etc.

It's certainly physically stressful for Trump.  I think he still enjoys all the travel and public appearances and he doesn't seem to be slowing that down, but his body can't keep up like it used to.

Yeah, he doesn’t feel stress about the job. He doesn’t give a fuck what happens to the people or the country or our standing in the world. He only cares about himself. He had stress when he was out of office but now he’s free from it because nobody can throw him in jail.

Only about 8% of NPR and PBS funding is from the federal government. I doubt they are going to cut back on things like transmission. Everyone who actually consumes that content has access to high speed internet anyway.

for NPR

At the national level it’s 1%, at the local station level averages 13% with the smaller stations getting more

The NYT Daily podcast earlier this week had a good deep dive on this issue explaining who would see the most significant impact and how.

It’s relevant because it’s all over social media this morning that Wal-Marks prices have skyrocketed because of his tariffs

Well, no shit.

This is only the beginning, too.  It's the high turn stuff in there like milk and coffee.

Once Big Retail sells through all off the stuff they pulled forward pre tariff, this is going to get ugly.

Currently in ruralish Brazil (Rio Branco) visiting my wifes family. This place was a Bolsonaro hot bed, including most of her family. They have nothing but venom towards Trump after this past 2 weeks. Him trying to interfere with Brazilian politics/economics/social media regulation is backfiring and actually garnering large support behind Lula. Dumb idiot.

Are Brazilian women really into butt stuff at a clip more than any other nationality?

I’ve been told it’s not the same taboo it once was, however, my friend read once that Brazilian women had the highest instance of regular backdoor shenanigans.

This friend seemed very curious about the matter and idk if he ever truly got the answer he was seeking. Considering your unique perspective in the matter, I thought I’d a least ask … for him.

Thank you for your help in resolving this very important cultural exchange question.

Walmart is not going to lose money for Trump. The Dotard thought that retailers would take it up the ass for him and his stupid trade shit, as usual he was wrong.

This is what my daughter (a freshly graduated UT nurse who is about to start in a peds cardiac ICU next week) said as well.  Of course, she unfortunately also added that with CHF and the type of care he likely receives that one could go for quite a while....womp womp.

For some time I’ve been kicking around buying a Marantz Cinema 70s AV Receiver to up my movie sound game a bit.

it was on the low end of the AVR spectrum, being only $1000.   I instantly ordered it online once Trump announced the 30% Japan, Korea, tariffs.   I looked five minutes ago on the Marantz site - it is now $1,300.

So yes, it is now a thing.

I have an ex-coworker who got married to a Texan in California, then immediately accepted a position to head up an office in Brazil.

A couple years later, he and his new Brazilian family look like they're doing really well.

It's occured to me (I can be a bit slow) that all Trump is doing is running his personal vendettas against anyone and everyone.

He has nothing nothing to do with running the government.  He is just letting his incompetent staff play government.

That’s basically what he ran on. Making those that don’t support him miserable. In that way he’s been very successful.

This is obviously the case. MAGA likes him because his vendettas align with some of their own despicable interests - get rid of non-white people, get rid of LGBTQ, attack education, attack science, attack intellectualism, attack anything that can be considered woke.

What they fail to see is that Trump really doesn’t care about them at all. He doesn’t like poor people beyond his need for them to elect him, which is now in the past. Christians and religious people are delusional in thinking he is one of them. Middle America and farmers, same deal. He isn’t serving most of them except occasionally by accident. Not because he wanted to help them, but because his vindictiveness and greed happens to work in their favor.

Trump serves himself, his family, and whatever billionaires or world leaders kiss his ass hard enough.

Exhibit A: Old cost of sweet AVR=$1,000.00

Exhibit B: New cost of sweet AVR= $1,300.00

Exhibit C $1,300/1000=30% increase.

I'm a bit behind on this one and I don't watch late night TV.

But that is some bullshit.  Look how free we are.  Just don't criticize the most openly corrupt asshole in our history. Fuck Larry Ellison too while I'm at it.
