The best thing I say to these people who are against the illegals in America is that they are here due to decisions made by the United States in the 60’s and 70’s. The unintended consequences are countries that never fully stabilized. We created hell for these people and then have the temerity to not let them seek work and a better life here. That is point blank what evil looks like.

Well yes I am aware of Butler and the things he was a part of when he was active duty. Really interesting guy whose words should be heeded now more than ever. The destabilization that interests me is what took place after World War II, especially the role played by the CIA, as that was more of a direct influence on what is transpiring right now.

Kilmar's back home, Elmo left a mark, The Republicans can't agree on their bill, veterans are rallying, and Ukraine showed they do have the cards.

I mean, Kilmar is back home. I thought that wasn't supposed to happen.

Fuck this loser.

It’s not him it’s his cult, half the country supports this, congress is the only entity that can actually stop this in its tracks and it’s full of loyal fascists this country elected. The only conclusion is the end of the US and new borders. The redass states can have their fascist theocracy and the rest can have normal international relations and civil rights.

Maybe take a split second to verify and digest what you're posting.  I'm clearly no cop-defender or friend of the fascists, but he video shows the cops hitting a windshield that is ALREADY broken and not usable due to all the cracking.  Their blows are clearing out that already broken glass.  I've had to do that to a broken windshield before myself, so we could limp the car home - you can't see with the busted windshield in place, so you knock it out so you can see to drive the car away.

Have any of our surly immigration hawks ever even attempted to try and explain why ICE isn’t raiding corporate suites of employers who hire undocumented immigrants? The politics of it is so glaringly obvious yet half the fucking country supports the hate and cruelty.

The bolded is the giant hole that the right never, ever, ever, explains.

Want to shut down illegal immigrants coming here/being here to work?  Arrest their employers.  Throw 4-5 CEOs who hire illegals into federal prison for a coupla years, and those jobs will go "poof" in an instant.  Yet....it doesn't happen.  Hmm, I wonder why that is?  Could it be that it's politically expedient to demonize dirty brown people to create an "other" to hate, and this actually has NOTHING to do with enforcing immigration laws and policies?  Gosh, I wonder....

This is why the whole “issue” just makes me fucking rage. It’s exactly like this in most metropolitan areas these days including in red states. Every study has shown that undocumented immigrants commit fewer crimes per capita than citizens. Most of them speak passable English and their kids are almost all fluent. The rhetoric is just hateful and infuriating especially when they blast an immigrant for DUI or some other shit, as though it’s worse than when white citizens do the same shit hundreds of times a day. Have any of our surly immigration hawks ever even attempted to try and explain why ICE isn’t raiding corporate suites of employers who hire undocumented immigrants? The politics of it is so glaringly obvious yet half the fucking country supports the hate and cruelty. Without any reservation I agree Abolish ICE. Open fucking borders for real, especially since Congress doesn’t care enough to pass legitimate immigration policies. If they commit crimes arrest them like everyone else. Problem solved. Anybody who supports the current approach can seriously EABODs and DIAF.

Ummm quite the opposite here in Tx where the lege balked at e-verify for all biz yet again this session.

In case there was any cause for confusion, let's clarify the reason for this policy choice.

Check the majority of CEOs etc. against this handy-dandy policy chart:

Now check the majority of undocumented laborers against that same handy-dandy policy chart:

I think we're done here.

Yeah, we’ll see some boycotts from countries that don’t want to have their athletes travel to the US, but those two organizations aren’t going to pull the events. They’re both as corrupt as Trump.

That's just fucking appalling and enraging. That, to me, is assault. In normal times, would there be any possible way for that woman to get any sort of justice or compensation?

Also, take note that the victim received zero aid from any "public servants" and that a civilian had to run cattycorner across the intersection to help the woman, and even she was also threatened.

(To embed on Surly, just copy/paste the url link instead of trying any share buttons)

Well, maybe when attendance is as sparse as the last McWilliams year the promoters and stadium owners (public and private) might rethink their investment outlay.

I don't understand the constant demands that protests be peaceful. Like obviously, we don't want people getting killed, but peaceful protesting doesn't fucking work. Hell, the Biden admin arrested over 3,500 peacefully protesting, pro-Palestinian college students alone, not even counting the non-student protestors that were arrested and brutalized around the country.

Civil disobedience and disruptive protesting is the only kind that works. They're going to try and kill you either way.

Never occurred to me that anyone would drive a car with a windshield caved in, including with gaping holes in the glass. Something about the risk of dislodged glass due to wind resistance while driving, as opposed to the relative safety of towing a car to the shop.

My wife tells me that any other city employee, faced with similar damage to a city vehicle , would call fleet, and the windshield would be replaced, on site, or towed to the shop.

Edited to say that city employee unions probably have some say in how to handle that circumstance, and fleet maintenance is likely its own, clearly defined lane. Union folk get bent out of shape when other people do the jobs they get paid to do.

The worst that would happen is the officer gets fired from LAPD.  And then gets hired by Anaheim PD.

Zero. This is a great sportswashing opportunity for a corrupt regime.  Playing nice when all eyes are on you provides great international cover for bad actors.
