It's also a tad ironic to have whining about this from someone who subscribes to the party of "diversity & inclusion is a bad thing" and we should base someone's worth on merit. Well, you guys merit being called weird.

Then act in good faith and participate. Bring up more examples of left-wing extremism in the US. Bring up examples from the current administration or once Harris has an official platform. You keep saying there’s extremes on both sides which no one here disagrees with. It’s extremely frustrating you can’t seem to understand that one side actively lean into that with their rhetoric, e.g. Trump & his allies.

I mean, what do you expect? You really expect that you’re able to make these claims, offer few/shaky evidence and declare this place is too one-sided and run away?

What he actually thinks is leftist extremism is shit like paying to feed poor kids at school, but he's got enough self awareness to know how that would come across so he sticks to bothsides abstractions.

So I’ve recently had some minor health issues, and some of my relatives came out of the woodwork to offer advice, thoughts and prayers, etc.  One of my cousins called me up Monday, she’s pushing 60 and from Arkansas, and MAGA, and told me about her husband’s experience with the same thing, her advice, etc. I steered the conversation away from that because I’ve heard enough this week.

Talked about family, some genealogy stuff, etc., and then she steered it toward politics because I’m in liberal Austin, and she laughingly asked if I’d vote for Harris.  I said I liked Harris and would vote for her, because Harris believes the world is round and that we walked on the moon and that boats with batteries don’t electrocute people when they sink.  I got silence and then a “ okay” and then a little more silence and then she mentioned that if we came to the Arkansas game, to give them a heads up and we could stay with them.

So tonight I got some texts from her daughter asking what I meant about the moon stuff and world being round, and she mentioned that her mom had brought it up to several relatives and was asking if Trump thought the world was flat or that we didn’t walk on the moon or about the boats thing.  I told her it was a joke, and she (the daughter) found it amusing.

You all should be throwing this stuff out there at your MAGA relatives. You might get some of them to start openly claiming the earth is flat or that we didn’t walk on the moon because that’s what Harris believes,

Calling relatives stupid isn't going to help anything except make you feel better in the short term. And if you don't want to interact with them, then just don't.

Hey I’m back from my trip to Facebook and being called a liberal plant so now we can get back to our regular scheduled program of y’all calling me a Tumpstet…. It’s amazing how logical views are shunned by both sides because they don’t fit their narrative…. Need an example see the negs I got on the last page for idk because people are close minded on both sides..  got the most negs on the last page by literally saying the government is watching this site because of things said on this forum…. A couple jackasses we’re like no that’s not true you’re full of shit you Trumpster…. Guess what I wasn’t and I’m not. Close minded as the other side some of yall are and your no better than the people you ridicule or atleast you don’t act like it at all.

I should care.
I don’t. Not anymore. Because their solution to THEIR pain is to inflict pain on others. Fuck em. My only regret is that I’m not one of the people grifting these assholes out of every last penny. Every. Last. Penny.

Yup. This one in particular cracked me up.

Other groups were running scams on Facebook and charging $800 for “redemption cards” with a photograph of Trump’s face and a code that they said would provide secret passage into the underground military bases where medbeds were said to be ready for use.

Its so over the top fucking ridiculous that it must be true. This f'n guy will  probably retire by November while the rest of us grind away. I just imagine some dude at his kitchen table with a $200 ink jet printer.....This un here will be Code #2677AS765. And 2 days later some dipshit aggy will be memorizing his freedom code. Whoop!

I'm tied to belief and echoes of belief in things that need questioning or don't really exist at all. There are still areas of life where my will to believe something and sadness that the belief may be ill-placed influence my perspective. It's unavoidable for me.

Guys, there's tons of examples of leftist extremism being implemented. Things like litter boxes in schools for the cat-children, abortion after birth, and then mixing those babies with chemicals to make vaccines. Really crazy stuff imo

And don’t forget, harvesting adrenochrome from children so that Tom Hanks and Oprah Winfrey can look…*checks notes* like they are in their 60s.

There is a reason why the Qanons, anti-science types, flat-earthers, and moon landing-deniers migrate to the right - the right is more than happy to embrace them for their votes, no matter how batshit they are.

Here's an example of a fairly extreme progressive policy:  open borders.

It doesn't get tossed out too much in the immigration discussions, just in passing really.  There's mild discussion of it and that's it.  None of the discussions are explicitly OpEN BoARdERs vs. BuILd tEh WaLl.

The Biden-Harris administration does not favor open borders.  Biden reversed Trump's inhumane, but effective deterrent, immigration policies.  That's.  It.  And, their reputation as anti-Trump brought more people to the border, whether they knew what changes Biden would make or not.

Whatever I think of immigration policy, I'm not in favor of inhumanity, no matter how effective it may be.  That includes shipping immigants to other states as some form of punishment.

Offered as proof that people are pouring across the border are data that shows more people being detained than previously, and more drugs being confiscated than previously.  Unsure how catching more stuff means you are letting more stuff in, I guess the assumption is that the ratio of caught to not caught is static?

You know what?  This brings up something that's been grinding the fuck out of my gears lately.

When exactly did it become uncouth to call people out for being idiots, PARTICULARLY if THEY bring up their bullshit beliefs first?  In my experience, the magats do this all the time.  At every family function lately there are at least one or two mentions of illegal immigrants or "my president" (directed at me) or some other Fox News trope.  I ignore it and move on, but I'm getting a little fucking tired of it.

I don't bring up politics at all at these functions, even though I would LOVE to point out that these people are being fucking idiots and believe insane bullshit that isn't reality.  But I don't.  I keep my mouth shut in order to maintain the peace and keep the wife happy.  Yet for some reason, they get away with this shit.  Generally, I'm the youngest person in these situations and somehow I'm the one that is supposed to be an adult.

If dotard wins in November, the gloves are fucking coming off.

This was the plan in 2020 until Fox News called Arizona and even Murdoch wouldn't back down from the call. If CNN or MSNBC would have called AZ, Trump wouldn't have cared and it would have just been proof how the MSM hates him. But Fox News took the wind out of his sails by declaring AZ for Biden. Honesty it felt premature for them to call it for Biden but damn if they weren't right.

If any of the battleground states report at the same time that Trump is leading, he will declare that he won.

I imagine there have already been talks with Fox News to stay out of calling the battle ground states. Trump doesn't need them to call the states for him, he just can't have them calling them for Harris.

I didn’t call her stupid (I rarely ever get to that point with relatives), but I was making a not-so-subtle point that she and every other MAGA type surrounds themselves with stupidity (insert Arkansas joke here).  If she had asked me why I said those things, I would have gladly told her that I was joking about how I’ve heard members of her party, including politicians, including Trump bring up those things or appealing to people who believe those things, and that it’s problematic.

She chose to stay silent/change the topic, so either I truly confused her (possible based on her daughter contacting me) or the gears were grinding and because Harris believes in A, she is duty bound to believe in B, and that the opposite is true. For a long time she had a profile photo with a “LGB” hat if that says anything, and it wasn’t like I brought politics up and she changed the topic - I’m one of the few independent/liberal relatives she still talks to and probably only because we had a friendly rivalry that goes back to the SWC days of Arky and UT.

I think we should all be engaging in some form of what @Biff Tannen is talking about, because most of us have been giving these people, relatives, friends, etc. a free-pass, and remaining silent emboldens a lot of them.

We don’t have to call them stupid either (many will dig in/double down if we do that and name calling is what they like to do anyways), we just have to point out the more ridiculous things about their party and their leaders.

For example, if you have a MAGA relative who is going out fishing in a boat, just tell them “hey, I want you to be careful because you know, President Trump has some ties to MIT and he gave a couple of speeches warning that if people in a boat with batteries sink, they could be electrocuted, and I know you have batteries in your boat for your trolling motor and your other gear, so please watch this Trump speech I’m sending you before you go out.”  Act earnest, don’t laugh or anything. Just send them the video. Put the ball in their court.  Let them know this is the person they support. If they say that’s stupid, ask them why they think Trump is stupid.
