This is an easy question to answer. ANTIFA is going to collect them. Then they are going to open every envelope and cross out Dotard's name and mark it for Biden. Then ANTIFA will wage war on the post office and start roughing up old ladies trying to drop off their mail. MS-13 is waiting in the wings to offer their assistance.

This is obviously hyperbole.

We all know ANTIFA will write-in Sanders/Warren and replace the American flag at the post office with the hammer and sickle while walking the ballots in and holding a boombox on their shoulder playing the Soviet anthem. Then they'll call in MS-13 to rough up all the old ladies trying to drop off their mail.

A lot of losing campaigns challenge results anyway if they're close but Trump will absolutely drag out this election.

If he's beaten in a landslide he'll do the same thing. He will not accept a loss, period.

And watching Bill Barr, present for the decline of Reagan, lie and misdirect for his boss is despicable.

CSB/I was at some random panel discussion that featured Colin Powell and Madeleine Albright a few years ago. Towards the end of it Powell gets a softball about "enduring memories about working with Ronald Reagan".

He launches into a story about when he was debriefing the president on an important national security matter in the Oval Office and patiently was waiting for direction on what Reagan wanted to do. The president was staring out of the window for the entire debriefing and after a long, meaningful silence he turned to him and said, "there was a squirrel that came and ate some nuts in the Rose Garden this morning". After Colin heard that he realized that the President was saying that he had been hired for a reason and he needed to make these calls himself, and a great leader delegates or some shit.

Anyway, this is probably a story he tells all the time but the entire room was floored that he told a story that seemed to clearly be about Ronald Reagan pronounced mental decline and used it as an example of the most positive story he can remember in working for Reagan. He could have used any anecdote he wanted!

Colin Powell is clearly not an idiot so either he still feels the need to carry water for his former boss years after his death or he had such admiration for the guy that he has deluded himself into believing Reagan was teaching him lessons by telling him inane stories about squirrels during national security meetings./CSB

The best part is that functionally there is no difference between an absentee ballot and vote by mail.  It's the same thing.  Yet people like my mom buy this stupidity hook, line and sinker.  Explaining it hasn't helped.

Just ask her to explain the difference to you.

That fox phone interview.  If you’re a working class rust belt supporter of Trump...take note of how well Trump understands your plight.  He refers to e-commerce fulfillment centers as “these Amazon plants.”  He considers them to be the same thing as what you or I would call a plant, like a factory, assembly line, or manufacturing site.  He thinks they are all “plants.”   That’s how well he understands your industries after four years of deceit.

I grew up in/around trucking so I understand the differences between plants and terminals and factories and warehouses.  What I don’t understand is what you guys see in this man.  Send him some more money you fucking rubes.  I’d tell you I hope you stay laid off forever but I know some of you are going to go on shooting sprees after the election so please cross my name off the list.

I try to balance my optimism that people have had enough of this shit: what with the whole 170,000 dead Americans, a destroyed economy, disruption of our way of life, etc. Then that gets counterbalanced by everything I see online where it just seems Trump is as popular as ever. So it is more I should believe the polls that say he's on his way to a landslide defeat or should I believe the anecdotal evidence of tweets, likes on Facebook, and more Trump signs than I thought I would ever see? Or is it more that the aggrieved party is the one that makes the most noise online? After the election, it was the left. Right now, it seems to be the right as Trumpism is constantly under attack. So are they so dug in that they're willing to look past the reality out there? Are there fewer of them than there are of us?

I never thought this absolute walking parody of a shitheel would be either nominated or elected. His election is the crowning, crushing, craptastic proof that I haven't a clue about what the electorate will do. Optimistic? No. Pessimistic? No. No clue.

So I watch the process and join the discussions. You write accurately and well about the situation in regard to obvious issues of policies. Miraculously, that's still down in the weeds for this guy. It's too esoteric. Too intellectual. Needlessly detailed.

You and I live in a world where a plague running rampant while a president blandly predicts it will just disappear and that we should all gather closely and often isn't the salient negative about that president.

Oh no. It's even simpler than that and it's right before our eyes. He is a despicable human being whose example could never be used in a positive light. Never.

How often?

spacer.png

He's a constant liar. Not just a spinner or political fibber; he's a person who is profoundly dishonest.

He's on tape bragging about how his celebrity allows sexual assault.

He's an idiot who claims to be a genius: he suggested in a national address that introducing disinfectant to the human body or bombarding it with large amounts of UV rays are medical approaches we should look into in hopes of curing Covid. What kind of a maniac is so unjustifiable self-confident that he would allow that piece of sheer idiocy pass from being an idle muse to a declaration to the press? He's fucking stupid. Dangerously stupid. And he's the one we chose to call the shots.

Any discussion of policy works in Trump's favor because it reenforces (has reenforced ) the notion that this person's position as president is somehow thinkable. He has no more business being president than I do operating on your brain.

We have sunk to a level where we have elected a person who on his face should have been dismissed in the same way we'd dismiss the thought of  a failed nail salon owner being raised to high office.

David Byrne tapped into some zone for a handful of years:

Do you realize how many people in this country are either so poorly informed, or of such low character, that this election will likely be down to the wire?

When he pulls more than 40%, it will be a national disgrace. He shouldn't be in the conversation.

I didn’t say it would work. It would just be fun hearing their dumb explanation that makes zero sense then just keep asking questions until they get mad and give up.

I knew both things would happen.  Because he's shitty.  And we're shitty.  It was a match made in heaven.  He is the ultimate, perfect, American president.

I think I've pretty much given up.  We deserve everything we're getting, and everything we're going to get, because we've asked for it.  And I've pretty much decided that once I hang up my professional spurs, I'll be spending as little time as possible in this country.  We've chosen to be a shithole, and in perfect American fashion, we are fucking COMMITTED to that choice.  it's what we are.  It's our destiny.

I heard someone say something the other day I hadn't thought about. He could be down 200+ EVs on election night, and he's going to declare victory, give the victory speech, the whole nine yards. Not just "I'm not prepared to concede yet". He will just pretend he won.

100% and we need to be prepared for it and if we had a media acting in our best interest they'd already be preparing people for this.

I wonder if Eric will go the Herman Cain family route and continue tweeting from Dotard's account after he's dirt napping.

"Denise Richards treated very, very unfairly by Garcelle and Lisa. RHOBH producers should step in to admonish such poor behavior... SAD!"

Dude, I've tried that.  I've also tried fact checking her forward email habit.  Her reply the first few times was "You are so smart." Then she quit copying me on her forwards.  She's not interested in facts, she interested in validating her feelings that Republicans are great and Democrats are out to kill everyone.

She's also ignoring the fact that I've already told her that no vaccine = no Christmas, and I suspect I'm going to have to remind her of this 30 or 40 more times before I actually don't show up at Christmas.  And she never gets that her attitudes and behavior are what's making me actually ok with no vaccine before Christmas.  I have less and less patience for her nonsense as I get older, and less and less desire to be around her.  It's sad because we used to be super close.

My mother's visitor, my little cousin, left her visit at my mom's in Chicago two weeks ago.  My mother called me last week during business hours, which she never does out of that motherly "don't want to bother you at work sweetie" mentality.  My little cousin and her mom thinks this is all bullshit, Covid-19 is a hoax, so much so...as they were awaiting test results that eventually proved to be positive...they went on a fucking brewery crawl in the Hill Country with friends in town from FUCKING FLORIDA (this was early-July).  That caller ID scared the living shit out of me, even more than awaiting my own personal test.  I was sure it was my mom calling to tell me she felt sick and that it was possibly Covid-19.

It was my mom calling to tell me her last living sister had died that morning at the age of 87.  My aunt had been in and out of mediocre senior living facilities for several years.  She had respiratory issues and while her official cause of death was just old age, I'm sure this pandemic didn't help.  But I don't blame the pandemic or her facility, she died peacefully at my mom's place after being brought there just the day before as if she just wanted to go surrounded by loved ones.

And so now we wait, for one of my cousins and one of my half-sisters to start spouting off shit about how we all should travel up to Chicago for the funeral because there's no virus to worry about.  And then one of my cousins to invite my mom to travel to Texas to have some reprieve from lockdown and death because they have zero respect for the Pandemic and think this is all bullshit and I'm insane for worrying about it.  As I've posted before, my mom has been treating this thing with deadly respect because she is Hispanic, over 70, overweight, a 50-year smoker, chronic respiratory issues, and two-time cancer defeater.  But does that stop my cousins in Hays County and my half-sister in the part of Chicago that still flies the confederate flag from calling my mom repeatedly to tell her this is bullshit and she should travel, that we should all travel?  That she shouldn't pay any attention to the data?  In the face of all of this shit, knowing that my mom puts a lot of faith in what they tell her, they can say this shit to her with a straight face?  It's fucking insane to me.  I didn't mind their political rants but during Covid-19 with all my mom's bullshit medical history...that they can talk to her like this is disgusting to me.  If they had talked my mom out of her last $100 to donate to Trump, I would be less disappointed with them than I am now that people are toying with her medical situation.

Talk to you elderly parents into voting for him, into donating to him, but for fuck's sake...let them be in peace during this pandemic.  Who actively tries to convince a two-time cancer/smoker/obese Mexican lady who hasn't stopped coughing since I graduated college into getting on an airplane because this virus is a hoax, with a 50% certainty she'll believe you  What kind of Americans are some of you? ?

I think if you want to get a nice retirement parachute that now would finally be the time to unleash/benevolently offer up OLD GLORY VOTER INSURANCE to the olds. You pledge to keep ANTIFA and MS-13 from stealing their ballot for the unbelievably low price of 999.99 and also protect their towns and hamlets from an invasion from BLM rioters and looters that are on the verge of declaring war on every white person in the country. No way this would do anything other than give you a few million for free.

I feel your pain.

My mom(80) called me(53) up last week to let me know about a phone conversation she had with my oldest son (31).  Despite numerous warnings to him not to talk politics with her, he did.  Eventually  their conversation got very heated and now he is not welcome at their house, for like forever, I guess.  He also owes them a little bit of money that is expected to be paid back immediately.

My son is just getting over a pretty bad case of Covid (really bad flu like symptoms-no Dr or Hospital), and has had three(3) gigs in the last five months (musician), has been ubering day and night, and has been on the $600/wk unemployment.  He is pretty liberal and doesn't really know how a lot of things really work in the world and is pretty beat up right now but holding steady.

My mom is racist, sits around all day watching Fox and Kramer, and thinks Dotard is doing a wonderful job.

So something had to give.  The thing is we can have a perfectly normal conversation, but she always has to interject politics into everything.  I usually do a pretty good job of of moving the topic off of politics and into policy.  My mom is like a bull in a china shop and always tries to come back around to Trump and I will admit it is hard not to engage, and I have in the past, especially if she calls after I have had a couple of cold ones.  At least she is wearing her mask and taking Covid seriously.  My dad is a republican voter, but I don't have these problems with him.

I really tried to encourage her to patch things up with him, but she was not having it at this time.

As long as there is closure of some kind.  I want to either be gleefully watching him go to the gallows or I want to be moving the fuck outta here.  No half measures.  No, well, he got away with it, but at least he's not president.

Hang in there. I've had to disengage from the info sometimes when I find that hopeless feeling overwhelming. I've been working on postcards for the Congressional race in my district and every chance I get, I fill more out. Something about reaching out to others, saying "I support X and I hope you will, too" has helped lift me up a little. I hope you find some peace and hope for better days.

I told my mom after she said masks aren’t 100% effective and you can’t  trust Fauci, that it was bullshit and he’s served for 8 different presidents. Got quiet. Reminded her that dad’s sister worked for the CDC for a long ass time and even wrote manuals on infectious disease. Moved the conversation along after that. She called my sister crying about it later (she vents about my sister to me when she needs to also) and changed her behavior. We were all together two weeks later at my cousins wedding and was masked up the whole time and had my dad wearing one in public. It’s possible, being blunt worked with me pretty well.
