I assume this event was at Eppley Field (OMA).  If that's the case, it is hard up against the Missouri River.

Council Bluffs, IA is right across the river, and it's not an insignificant town.  So yeah--you get more media coverage than one electoral vote's worth with a visit to Omaha.

By the way--really weird thing about OMA: when you drive into downtown from the airport you actually cross into Iowa briefly.  The state line follows the old river, which over the past two centuries has straightened (leaving an oxbow lake).  So you never cross the Missouri River, but you still go into Iowa.  And the taxes must be a fuckton lower, because there are a ton of the airport hotels in that little bit of Iowa.

and the Perkins where I always stop for breakfast.

Good ol’Carter Lake. Enough of a shit hole that Nebraska refused to take it when Iowa offered. It’s big claim to fame is the Gaughan family of Las Vegas game got there start running an illegal casino there since it was inaccessible to Iowa law enforcement and not in Nebraska. Still not as strange as the piece of land attached to Missouri now, accessible only from Iowa and legally part of Nebraska

A fitting Coda to Trump's presidency would be to wear a Lincoln-esque hat during the 20 January transition.  Pull it off to salute his minions and take his dead squirrel toupee off with it.  As if to say to America, "It's all been the ruse you thought that it was."

20 of his 60 million voters will move on just fine and try to cobble together a new Republican Party government for the next few years.  Not sure about the middle 20 million, probably just go with societal inertia.  It's the last 20 million that are the big question mark.

Remember that feeling you had at the end of "The Sixth Sense" when you knew you'd be taken for a ride?  But if felt fun and different.  But you were also a little pissed at yourself for not having seen it coming?  Imagine that festering into rage because the people outside the theater are going to laugh at you, ostracize you, point out your ignorance and stupidity.  And then imagine you have access to high-powered assault rifles and can finally push back on the people that have made you feel like you never really had a seat at the table, just a very costly ticket to a theatrical showcase where you were the fucking punchline we all laughed at.  20 million of his supporters are going to wonder why they don't have a chair when the music stopped and they're not gonna think it's funny when we point at them.

You realize twitter is going to ban his ass immediately on January 21 2021 right? Or as soon as he resigns for his pardon, or as soon as the GOP impeaches and convicts.

Jan 21, 2021 would be 79 days so yeah, that would be much longer than 6 days. Also, that's not going to happen. Twitter isn't going to ban Trump. And that stupid social media platform that caters to simple people sharing simple thoughts with other simple people is going to be the least of our concerns a week from now.

THIS, THIS, THIS.

Many moons ago, I succeeded in killing a deal that 1) made ZERO business sense, 2) would have created MASSIVE public debt, but 3) would have yielded over $200 million in fees for the bankers, dealmakers, etc.  The SOLE thing driving that transaction was the desire of the movers and shakers to make fees.  Hell, it was such a bad deal that a big chunk of the debt was "extra money" to be available to.....service the debt, because the revenue numbers for the first 10 years wouldn't even come close to paying the debt as it came due.  It was eye-opening as hell.  Watching bullshit like that unfold is a good way to turn a person into a Bernie bro "fuck Wall Street" type.

Not only would they not create value by the "deal," they'd create deadweight on the economy.  And they'd skim off $200million+ for doing us that favor.  That is everything wrong, evil, and destructive about the late-stage "capitalism" we're in.  And we've gone all-in on worshipping and celebrating that, because hey, if you're smart enough to figure out how to make $200 million, you're CLEVER, and that should be REWARDED!

Leveraged buyouts are a sister of this.

Shit, I may be clever enough to figure out how to tunnel in to Ft. Knox and run off with all the gold, but no amount of "clever" changes the fact that I'm a fucking thief who just inflicted a huge social cost on everyone else.

Yep, it's the same sort of shortsighted, "profits now" mantra that seems to dominate publicly traded corporations.  Make a shitpile this quarter, fuck the future.

Trump's not attending the inaugural unless he's getting sworn in.

They need to have a Lincoln impersonator in full regalia at the inaugural, so Biden can make reference to him in his speech and say "Abraham Lincoln over here".

Just keep my daughter in remote learning until the end of the semester...avoid family for the sake of health for one winter of holidays...and still illegally light off fireworks like we did last July?  That's all we have to sacrifice to ensure you are defeated, my country gets back on track, and I can shit on your grave and fuck your cunt family's faces while I do it?  Sign me the fuck up False Messiah.  You are going to be the first President in U.S. history to die with people dancing in the streets.  Your children will die alone, in shame.  You have no idea the agony you've caused your grandchildren.  When they google, "Why are they no descendants of Martin Bormann?"  You'll reach out from the depths of hell to try to console them.  Their burden will be your legacy.

Just roll over and die fat man, roll over and die.  We'll deal with your cult soon enough.

That would actually be a powerful message.  If, at any time during the last four years, he ever expressed one single value he held to be important.

Somebody tell me three values Trump holds dear and I'll vote for him tomorrow.

You haven't voted yet? Fucking get your ass to the polls homie.

Relax Sally, I voted last week.  I was just gonna illegally vote and take the risk provided somebody could tell me when/if Trump ever expressed anything he held as a value.

I came to 2020 to do two things.  Cast my ballot and fuck some Trumpers' wives.  And looks like my ballot's been casted.  Some of them are married to some really fat women though.

Don't believe them when they call themselves "conservative." A true conservative wouldn't risk long term stability for short term gain.

I bet any trumper on this site that my 5YO can nAme more U.S. Presidents than Trump can.

i know he knows Obama, bush, Clinton, bush, and Reagan.  And then Lincoln and Washington. He can probably recall the presidents of his lifetime like carter, Ford, Nixon, Johnson, and Kennedy.  After that he gets foggy.  I would wager he cannot nAme More than 15 and my daughter is clipping about 25 these days.

I wish trump admired More about presidents like Harrison, Taylor, and Garfield.  They have so much in common

Husband tells me that the appointed head replaced the chief scientist at NOAA with a climate change denier after the scientist sent out an email regarding science ethics. Don’t know the specifics, but understanding science is a big deal, especially when you want to have a Space Force. Ethics are a big deal, too and science is better with ethical principles.

This Miles Taylor dude just went yard on CNN.  Full on said Trump asked if Homeland Security could gas or shoot immigrants before they got to the border.   When they said fuck no, he said, "maybe shoot them in the leg"?  When told he couldn't do it because it's illegal, he said "Just do it.  If you get in trouble I'll pardon you."

I know that isn't surprising but it's the first time IIRC that an eye witness is coming forward and quoting the fuckstick (with things previously only implied).

And yes he wanted to bus them to Sanctuary Cities if they got through.  Also illegal.

He said a bunch of other shit but those really jumped out at me.

I’ve already voted for Biden FOUR times, and may vote for him a couple more times before Tuesday.  I’ll fix Trump’s little red wagon!

It was sort of a legit concern what with the typos and lack of 5,000 words.  Were you successful in the sonic suppression of your soup?  Can't say I've ever heard of noisy soup, but maybe I'm doing it wrong.

im really don’t know how anyone with a half a brain support this idiot

Because he gives them false hope that he can change things back to the way they were in the past. When gays were never seen in public or on television, the entire neighborhood was only white people, and companies actually gave a shit about you.

I'm not sure if that last one ever existed but they sure like to believe it and they fooled themselves into believing this idiot will turn it back to that even though zero evidence has shown that to be the case. They're scared of gays, minorities and black lives matter and their changing country and are grasping at anything, no matter how unlikely, to make things go back.

jan whatever, President Biden rescinds. How many roads can they build in 2.5 months?

They've blown the shit out of a bunch of mountains in the Arizona wilderness to put up the stupid fucking wall in just a couple of months, so certainly enough to do damage. And like someone above posted, once there's a foothold, its going to be much more difficult to rescind.

It's more than that. Many feel they're being left behind. The world is changing quickly and they can't keep up. Trump researched what they wanted to hear and then he told them he could help them. They turn on the radio and Limbaugh and Hannity put the fear of God in them every day. Then they turn on Fox News and it's more propaganda.

In other words, they're suckers.

Only thing longer than my average post is your litany of posts about my post length.
circle of life Simba ;)   (Just put me on ignore man)

but dibs on ‘sonic soup suppressor’ for my band name.  I don’t know what it is though, I can make a proper Old Fashioned on ice like a church mouse.  But I make a PB&J or warm a bowl of soup and I wake the little ones up apparently.  I dunno.
