I’m just exhausted at this point. Like I can’t believe this country banded together for WW2. Young men begging to sign up, the people at home doing what they needed to do. I can’t believe we got pretty much everyone onboard with the polio vaccine. I can’t believe how United we were after 9/11(until W did W things). These were our grandparents and great grandparents and @Armybrat coming together for the greater good. Now half the fucking country loves the dumbest mother fucker alive, refuses to wear masks or get vaccinated and openly mock a serious fucking pandemic. How the fuck did we get to this point!?!?

We all thought it was heroic when Batman stopped Ra’s al Ghul and then Bane, when the Avengers reversed the Blip, when the Kingsmen foiled Velentine’s plan, and so on, but we just didn’t recognize tragedy when we saw it. Forests sometimes need a cleansing fire to renew healthy growth, so it goes for humanity. We can’t have nice things without a semi-regular bloodletting.

Usually it’s resource scarcity that compels us to destruction. This time it’s just boredom. That’s why it’s so maddening.

The guardrails of truth have been destroyed. In the old days, people were just as stupid as they are today.

This is true.

And as you pointed out, there were limits to what disinformation could be disseminated via public media, and so most Americans weren't very political.  They just went about their lives and bitched about taxes and communists and whatever.  Take away those legal requirements on the media, and introduce a huge level of inter-connectivity that did not exist, and voila!  2021.

EAGAN, Minn. -- A day after Kirk Cousins doubled down on his stance regarding the COVID-19 vaccine, a hospital Cousins partners with in his hometown of Holland, Michigan, cut ties with the Minnesota Vikingsquarterback.

"As the trusted health care leader along the lakeshore, we are committed to providing accurate, timely health information and guidance based on guidelines from the CDC and medical experts," the statement read.

"While we acknowledge that each person is entitled to their own viewpoints, those who speak on our behalf must support messages that align with the hospital's position on matters of vital importance to individual and community health.

"For this reason, Holland Hospital will discontinue using Kirk Cousins as our spokesperson for now. We are proud of our association with Kirk. He embodies many values we respect and share as part of our work culture.

"However, we must be certain that our communications about COVID vaccination are consistent and unequivocal.

"The clear recommendation from the CDC and leading medical experts is that the COVID vaccine is safe, effective and the best defense against becoming infected with the virus. Evidence also indicates that vaccinated individuals may be less likely to carry and transmit the virus to others including children, family members and friends.

"For these reasons, Holland Hospital has and will continue to strongly recommend the COVID vaccine to those who are eligible to receive it. It is important that Holland Hospital maintain the trusted reputation we have earned for providing consistent, truthful information and evidence-based health care guidance."

The Chinamen poisoned us with brain-rotting Red Bull 20 years before they followed up with Covid.

Lots of private school teachers are not doctrinaire people-- they might be doing it as a side gig, or until they get certification, or any number of reasons. It seldom pays as much as teaching public school. They have to be overjoyed at getting more little Bucky McFucklechucks that they have to teach, for zero extra income.

The one upside for a non-asshole employed at a private school, is that those places can kick some disruptive kid out toot sweet.

I noticed something with the conservative talk radio I sometimes let rattle in the background. There was a point, maybe a few months back, where they yanked the personalities who mocked Covid precautions. They were just gone. Then they replaced them with people telling folks to get vaccinated. I wonder if somebody didn't have a talk with a station owner about possible lawsuits.

We are all frustrated. And right now, this shit is being prolonged by a fucking minority in this country who are so fucking stupid to function.

I’ve fucking done everything right, and now because of the, “But my Freedom,” idiots, the one thing I’ve looked forward to since March 2020 is potentially going to be taken from me.

Meanwhile, these assholes got fucking stimulus checks paid with my tax dollars. Fuck them all.

And don’t yell at me because you have kids. You chose that for yourself. Deal with it.

You were whining a little bit about the vacation, but I am sorry for being a cunt.   Paris is a lovely city to get lost in, and the people there are really kind (don't believe the dumbasses who say otherwise).

The kids I know are handling this in a way that would make Seneca proud.  Wearing a mask, distancing, sanitizing, and missing activities/friends/families are regarded as normal as the sunshine.

No worries.  I am upset.  We all are.  Also, it’s Southern Italy (Naples, Capri, and Ischia) that are in jeopardy.  Which is almost worse than missing Paris because of the sheer beauty of the region.  I had also negotiated that this vacation wouldn’t count against my annual vacation with my new job….so it’s like a signing bonus.
