I just want to thank Gundy for hiring Meacham and then taking in Henjy.

Both nice people, but Meach had ties to the 2014 Patterson team and it was time to tie that off and end the thought of some Meach would be a better OC than Briles.

No one really knows if Haus can throw, but more importantly the family members who were too happy to team anyone who would listen Hoover was the wrong quarterback and Haus was a proven winner didn't need to be around the program.

That kind of beat down means it’s over for the coach. For a lot of years Gundy had figured out how to make the Cowboys as good as they could be but he clearly doesn’t want to anymore. Time to pull the bandaid.

And Briles did?

Lanning is great when someone starts yapping about his program and such. He did the same to Deion and Colorado.

In all fairness, the Ok. State QB threw two INTs for TDs on almost back to back plays. Lanning had back ups in by mid 3rd, and they still were blowing the pokes wheels off.

Reminded me of watching Westlake vs Anderson games when I was in high school. Ugly by the second quarter.

Seems like it all started to go south after he was seen wearing that OAN shirt.  Karma, bitch.

As the Bible says, Oanism is not a good look for “a man”.

I always liked Gundy. He always did things his way and added a lot of balls that many coaches did not.

The only time I ever really hated OSU was when they raked Charlie over the coals in officiating. I still wonder what the deal was that day.

He had a lot of great moments and was fun to watch. Once he listed his ranch for sale, I figured something was on the horizon. I wonder if he rides off into the sunset or we see him at another program in the future.

Long live the mullet. He’s a man, he’s way past 40.

He doesn't seem to have the desire or aptitude to compete in this new era. OK State has made him a very wealthy man. He should exit stage left & look for a job as a color commentator or studio host. Hell, with some polishing he could make his way up to the Gameday set in 5 years.

Oof @'stache that sucks sorry bro

Tough losing starting QB plus adding 62 new players to current roster...

Cowboys faced difficulty building culture

As he discussed the impact of strength coordinator Rob Glass and his summer workouts on the program, Gundy mentioned that the team “had more issues over the summer than we’ve ever had.”

Asked to clarify the type of issues he was talking about, Gundy pointed to the challenge of building culture in a program with 62 new players, more than half of whom only arrived in June.

According to the Andy Staples podcast, at the end of the game, Oregon played AC/DC’s “Money Talks” over the PA system.

As they should have, Gundy barked all week about NIL and Oregon. I thought Lanning's best comment was how Tennessee Martin probably isn't happy about their situation

I honestly really like Lanning as a HC....this was him post game

Wow, Lanning recruited one of his players with only a Nike backpack and a t-shirt?

The player doesn't sound particularly well-educated. Of course, he didn't choose UO to play no skool.

Need to be around the program?

Most likely not, but he is from the Leach tree and to date Sonny has shown a preference to OC's from that tree.

I was told long ago by a mentor that you will know when it is time to walk away when you can not only afford to, but more importantly no longer have a desire to change and learn as well as deal with the bull shit.

A friend texted me that OSU should replace Gundy with Gary Patterson and I laughed because what is happening in Stillwater is what would have happened in Ft Worth if not some people stepped up and made the hard choice.

I figured Oregon would win, but I did not expect them to go in dry, balls deep.  Wow.

hmm, this was exactly what one would expect playing Lanning after those comments

T Boone ain’t walking through that door, but surely they have plenty of oil guys that could chip in for NIL. Maybe not Cody Campbell level, but you’d think they’d be better positioned than the average program.

It’s interesting though the downturn of  the Okie State program follows after T. Boone passed on.   I’m surprised he didn’t leave them an endowment of money to draw from for decades to come as much as he spent when he wa alive on the football programs alone.

Not sure how things were divided when his estate was settled, but I remembered this story and did a quick Google search:

"Oklahoma State University implemented a unique fundraising program called the "Gift of a Lifetime" in 2007, which used life insurance policies to fund future donations to its athletic department. The idea originated from billionaire alumnus Boone Pickens, who had previously made significant donations to the university. Under this program, Oklahoma State purchased $10 million life insurance policies on 25 of its supporters, primarily donors and season-ticket holders aged between 65 and 85. The university paid the insurance premiums—projected to total $20 million, financed through credit—and was named as the beneficiary of the policies.

The program was designed to provide long-term financial stability by using the proceeds from the policies to endow athletic scholarships, fund facilities, and support operations. Athletic director Mike Holder described it as the largest known use of life insurance for fundraising by a college athletic department. The initiative was facilitated by Oklahoma state law, which permits charitable institutions to be named as beneficiaries of life insurance contracts even without a traditional insurable interest, as long as no individual is named as a beneficiary.

Although the program generated interest from other schools like Texas Tech and Oregon, it was ultimately discontinued. By its conclusion, OSU Athletics Inc. had spent approximately $33 million on premiums. The funds from the policies were intended to support long-term goals, including facility upgrades and scholarship endowments, complementing other major gifts such as Pickens’ $165 million donation in 2006."
