Almost makes you wonder if her MAGA stuff was all an act.

No, this version of her is the act.

Yep. She’s attempting to cover her ass because she knows what’s coming.

My favorite litmus test.  "Hey, how do those tariffs work anyway?"

I haven't seen a single person here defending Trump's post. It's bottom on the barrel narcissistic lack of humanity shit.

Here is what Reiner said after Kirk's murder.

"I unfortunately saw the video of it and it’s beyond belief what happened to him and that should never happen to anybody. I don’t care what your political beliefs are. That’s not acceptable..."

Agreed, MAGA doesn't spend a lot of time these days defending the words and actions of this administration. They just continue to bury their heads in the sand and pretend that they know nothing about the shitbaggery unfolding daily, while eagerly awaiting their chances to jump on liberals for their rhetoric and calls for violence.

Most definitely. But, if this wretched bitch is the canary in the coal mine that sees what's coming, then god bless her. I'm just not that optimistic.

100% this.

She didn't wake up one day and realize the error of her ways and become a good guy.  This isn't wrestling.

She's just saying whatever she thinks the room wants to hear.

I don’t know where to put this so I guess I’m gonna put it here.
Waiting to pick up a part that I ordered online at a Ford dealership, I overheard one of those service-intake guys discussing his knowledge bomb about  Bill and Melinda Gates.

Apparently, we have all been as he put it “men in blacked” because Bill and Melinda Gates were actually murdered by ‘a tribe back in the day’. He remembers it (I don’t know how he escaped Will Smith and especially Tommy Lee Jones … this was in San Antonio after all) because ‘the President had to get involved’

Why were they murdered? Because the tribe members’ kids kept dying due to the vaccine (which he never specified) that Bill and Melinda Gates were giving administering.

He then challenged his coworkers to go look up Melinda Gates… well actually not. He never used Melinda Gates in his whole truth tellings. He just said ‘his wife.’
He challenged them to look her up because as his theory goes, she is actually being played by Robin Williams who isn’t dead but is playing her as a role / in disguise.

So that happened. That really f’in happened.

This man is allowed to hold gainful employment. He walks amongst us people.

This is the kind of idiocy that Trumpism encourages. This man has no shame in espousing his completely bashit theory.

Worse still, no one at his job called him out on his obviously stupidity.

This is why we don’t deserve democracy.

That man has worked on your vehicle at some point. You've put your life in his hands.

One of my blistering hot takes is that it is good when scumbags feel compelled to maintain a modicum of decorum and tact because to do so is in their narrow self-interest. It helps maintain discourse within non-sociopathic bounds and cumulatively, places actual behavioral boundaries on them.

“Authenticity” is a morally neutral character trait depending on what one’s authentic self is.

just taking cues from Dear Leader. “i pardoned who? he did what? i don’t know him. i don’t know anything about that.” plus a million other daily examples.

She is clearly evolving.

I'm curious if she has a new person in her orbit that might be influencing her.  If she was exploring going for office higher than Rep, she may have brought in new/more consultants.  Maybe there is one that she trusts and is amplifying.  Pushing back on Trump is one thing, but she also seems to be doing it competently.  That competence is surprising.

You know, we can look back at various empires, and pinpoint moments big and small that led to the downfall of those empires, whether they be Romans, Persians, Ottomans, British, Spanish, etc., etc. It's just so obvious in hindsight, some real "damn, they really fucked up at this particular moment in time" kinds of moments.

Most of the time, the people who were living at that time within those empires would not have realized the seriousness of those moments, because they would have grown up in a situation where the empire is all they had ever known.  They couldn't conceive of something wrecking their world and they would have seen the occasional speed bump but assumed that things would course-correct and everything would work out fine, because that's how it had always been in their lives.

And in those cases where we can assign an exact date to the end of an empire, even then for the majority of people who were living at that time, it might have been just another day. One day a farmer and his family go to sleep under one ruler or one country, and they wake up the next day under another ruler or country. He still has chickens to tend to, fields to plow, etc. He's going to hear about it after the fact. He may not even be able to see the big picture, because he lives in a tiny village in the boonies. Maybe whoever comes by to collect taxes has a different accent in the future.

But here in America in 2025, we all have access to information (even if we don't partake of it) where we are aware of these things, and we can in fact see, in real-time where we are pissing away our influence on the world scene. We will feel the effects over time on our economy (it will be measured in years, so we will see and feel it).

Killing USAID and Voice of America and various other things we use to project soft power, we are literally giving the Chinese a power vacuum to fill, and when they fill it, we can't just put a different party in power in 2026 and 2028 and bring back everything and tell the Chinese "yeah, you guys need to leave, we got this, we'll send them some food and medicine and they'll let our oil or mining companies back in, no harm, no foul!"

When countries pivot away from one empire to another, well, lest we forget we have a very relevant example from earlier in the year: when we got in the tariff fight with Canada, they literally said they need to pivot to Europe and replace us with Europe. When that happens, we won't be able to claw our way back into those markets easily, because that's a helluva lot of supply chains/infrastructure that does not pivot all that quickly.

When conference realignment happens globally, just like with college sports, there's usually no going back to the old conference. And this isn't the Cold War where we just keep a steady bearing and stick to our values and we can beat the Russian bear and eventually get all of those Eastern European countries on our side. China is playing a much longer game than we and the Soviets were.

i've said more than once this past year... we're not special, it's just our turn.

I went to see It’s A Wonderful Life at the Paramount last night, and the scene where the narrator says “like everyone else, he wept and cried on VE Day…” meaning people were crying tears of joy and relief en masse, made me think that if Trump dies in the next 5 years, it will be a similar sentiment around the civilized world.  I have fireworks and expensive scotch I am holding back.  I will take several days off from work to celebrate.  I just really hope he doesn’t live long enough to fade away and to have his heinous acts blurred by the passage of time.

I, too have booze at the house.  But before I partake, I'm going to drive to my local liquor store, sit in the parking lot and see just how busy the place is.

I have a feeling they will be crowded that day.

This is a nightmare.

He’s saying that anyone who doesn’t support him deserves to be brutally murdered. Not only deserves it, but that is the actual cause of it. He is really, really sick and deranged. And it’s going to keep getting worse.

He didn't say that explicitly.

He did, however, say that "he was very bad for the country."

Which is just astonishing talk.  Somehow, I continue to be astonished by what a piece of shit he is.

In his post this morning? Yeah he blamed his murder on Reiner’s “TDS”. I think it’s fair to make the connection.

Im just contrasting what he actually said with what he strongly implied, not arguing with you.  His literal words were bad enough.

You do this a lot with Trump (and the right in general) and I'm not sure it's something that you actually need to be doing?

He cannot possibly let any other person lead the headlines for more than 5 seconds.  He has to do something outrageous enough to supplant whatever the other news of the day is.

With regards to Trump shit-canning the ASL interpreter at his press conferences:  please, assemble a video montage of the double-fisted handjob, the microphone blowjob, the "bing bing bing" hand exclamations, the general tiny hand squeezebox movements, etc.

Rob Reiner was very bad for the country. Rob Reiner. The actor/director of some of the most memorable comedies and dramas of his generation. HE was the one that was very bad for the country.
