How much do billionaires have?

Trump just talked about $1776 payments to about 1.4 million military members.  That's about $2.5 billion dollars.

Trump's own net worth went up by about $4 billion when he was given stock in Truth Social, although the stock has gone down since then.  He didn't work for that money, it was a stock grant.  Stack cryptocurrencies and a free airplane on top of that and the pile just gets bigger.

Which is pennies compared to Elon, who is worth about $648 billion.  Elon could give $1776 to each military person, each month, for a year, and it would cost him less than 5% of his net worth.

Let's not encourage this.

Every time I get a look at how Trump has jacked up the WH with all that tacky fake gold stuff, I become more horrified. It seems to get worse by the day. Damn.

If you thought next year might not be an absolute fucking bloodbath for the GQP, let this speech put an end to that.
They have no ideas. They have no answers. They have no strategy.
When things are good, you can get away with shouting about fake problems like transgenders or DEI.  But nobody has time for that shit when they can’t pay the rent and they have no healthcare.  And when that’s the deal when you have all three branches of government, that’s a big fucking problem.
It’d be a big fucking problem for a Democratic administration.  But they’d try something.  It might not work. But it might.
This administration?  It won’t try anything. It has no idea as to what it might try.  So nothing will improve.  And there ostentatiously won’t be any effort to improve anything.

They’re gonna get killed.

I believe you — if we have fair elections. They’re gonna try everything to stay in power. You think things are ugly now? You ain’t seen nothing yet.

Kamala is on Kimmel right now. They were talking about the exhorbitant amount of grifting going on by dotard, his family and “friends.” She related a story about when she called him to wish him well or whatever in the immediate aftermath of the Butler “assassination” attempt.
When they left to go bring him to the phone, she said she could hear him selling his book to someone in the background.

Knowing how Trump operates, that speech is the clearest sign yet that he feels like he’s losing the messaging battle.

Yep.  And that payment to the military bullshit - he's probably thinking that he'll bribe the military into liking the invasion of Venezuela. All it's gonna do is put a lot of down payments on Dodge Chargers or Ford Mustangs (or a motorcycle). Lot of PFC starter kits about to be bought...well they'll get a down payment.

He can't help but spend that tariff money, but he better save some for the masses next year when it gets closer to November.

I wonder how MAGA people who can’t afford groceries or a doctor visit will receive that?  Who am I kidding, they’ll eat it up.

So where did I miss the announcement that Congress approved a $2.5 billion dollar bonus to active duty military this week? That's how things work, right? The POTUS can't just say "give these people over here a couple grand" and voila...checks are cut.

But until it happens I'll just assume their racist, homophobic messaging next fall will keep them in power. We are a nation of racist morons.

That's oldlaw.

But he has expropriated so many Congressional funds it might be hard for him to come up with that.

Some asshole like Elmo will donate it though.

I think the typical Republican strategy/idea in this situation is to start a war with a country that has a lot of oil…

Trump's $1776 "bonuses" are being funded by congressional increases in troop housing allowances:
https://www.defenseone.com/policy/2025/12/trump-rebrands-congressionally-approved-troop-housing-subsidy-warrior-dividend-bonus/410250/

Congress approved more money for military housing, also called the BAH, as part of the defense bill they just passed.  The DoD is giving this to the troops in the form of the $1776 bonuses.

So the cost of housing is going up, Congress recognized this and is giving our troops more so that they can afford housing, and Trump's team rebranded it as a "Warrior Dividend" and made it look like a bonus.

What could possibly go wrong.

https://www.theverge.com/news/847159/trump-media-tae-technologies-merger-nuclear-fusion

Trump Media is merging with a nuclear fusion company

Quote

Trump Media, the company that runs social network Truth Social, is pivoting to nuclear fusion. It has announced a merger with California-based fusion power company TAE Technologies and plans to start construction on a fusion power plant in 2026.

Trump Media & Technology Group will become the holding company of the new organization, though shareholders from each company will own approximately half of the newly formed firm, which the companies say will be valued at more than $6 billion. President Trump previously owned a majority share in Trump Media, but transferred that to a trust managed by his son, Donald Trump Jr., before taking office in January. Don Jr. will be one of the nine board members in the newly formed company.

Quote

The new company has ambitious plans, announcing that it intends to begin construction on “the world’s first utility-scale fusion power plant” next year and have it up and running by 2031, though it will have to find a site and secure permits first. That plant is intended to generate 50MWe, though larger 350-500MWe plants are “planned.”

Quote

“Trump Media & Technology Group built uncancellable infrastructure to secure free expression online for Americans, and now we’re taking a big step forward toward a revolutionary technology that will cement America’s global energy dominance for generations,” said Trump Media CEO Devin Nunes. “Fusion power will be the most dramatic energy breakthrough since the onset of commercial nuclear energy in the 1950s — an innovation that will lower energy prices, boost supply, ensure America’s AI supremacy, revive our manufacturing base and bolster national defense.”

TAE Technologies has been developing its fusion tech for decades, helped in part by investment from Google. The Verge visited TAE back in 2019, when the hope was that a budding new technology called “AI” might help the company crack the code and unlock fusion.

As for Trump Media, it posted a loss of almost $55 million in Q3 2025, but has substantial digital assets after branching out into crypto this May. The merger is expected to close in mid-2026, pending approval by both shareholders and, theoretically, regulators.

No, but why should that stop you from investing in their project anyway?

I got busy yesterday so haven't been able to read the spicy Vanity Fair tea. Apparently there is a lot of making fun of Trump from the inside.

That said, this speech and the feedback I'm seeing from it reminds me that we are not only in a K-shaped economy, but our politics are K-shaped as well. We might as well live on different planets from MAGA's and visa versa.
