If you're looking for a lesson from this story about a Sweetwater man Doordashing his order for bleach, trash bags, zip ties and a hatchet to his motel room, one possible lesson is to split up your order so it doesn't look quite so suspicious. The other, I suppose, is don't do meth. Or take hostages.

SWEETWATER, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A door dash driver alerted police to a hostage situation after delivering suspicious items to a Sweetwater motel Monday morning.

Neil Cooper has been identified as the suspect involved in the hostage situation at the Sweetwater Inn on Georgia Avenue around 11:30 a.m.

A door dash called police to the motel because he was suspicious due to a delivery he made to Cooper’s room, but they did not disclose what items were involved, according to a press release from the Sweetwater Police Department.

Witnesses told KTAB and KRBC Cooper ordered items like trash bags, zip ties, bleach, a hatchet, and more.

When officers arrived at Cooper’s motel room, he refused to exit and advised he was armed. They also found a hostage being held inside.

This hostage was quickly rescued then arrested for an outstanding warrant for Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 out of Snyder as well. He’s also charged with Failure to Identify.

No further information, including the hostage’s identity, has been released.

The cool thing about that is that by using DoorDash, you not only get your tools delivered right to your door but your victim brings them to you.

I was driving back from Colorado and needed to spend the night around Lubbock before making the final drive back to Austin. I was outside Lubbock and thought maybe I could make it to Sweetwater, and we'd spend the night in Sweetwater. But then it occurred to me that no one willingly spends the night in a motel in Sweetwater.

Guess I was right.

1) I've spent the night there, for work.  Hell, I've had a high-profile case in Nolan County.

2) The place just ain't the same since Allen's Family Style Meals shut down.

Discussion of the proper order of usage of a zucchini, lotion, and hot sauce will do that to a relationship.

I banged a chick from there one night, even if they were one of our football rivals. As mature semi-adults matriculating through college, we were able to overcome our differences.

See, there *is* hope for humanity!

Sweetwater is where we make our first stop on our annual summer trip from Austin to Crested Butte.

There's a place called AM Donuts at the intersection of I20 and whatever the main road is coming north into town. The people running it couldn't be any nicer. We load up on Kolaches, donut holes, and/or breakfast sandwiches to have for the entire trip. They usually throw in several things for free when my kids have a hard time deciding what to get.

This is thinking outside the box. This is why huge corporations pay thousands of dollars to consultants.

Do they sell hatchets and bleach?
