You're not wrong, but people in general are stupid.

Yeah, but that makes them easily susceptible to manipulation via basic repetition. The GOP is great at repeating a very basic attack against Democrats. Democrats do... I don't know what, actually. Just random Americana-themed feel good nonsense mixed in with a brief mention of wanting to expand access to healthcare?

If the Dems just constantly repeated "the GOP is a fascist death cult that wants you to starve and die so they can give your shit to Charles Koch," I think it'd be effective, especially because it's basically true.

So if/when Biden is announced winner, what do we think happens to the stock market?

MAJOR correction?

The market likes stability so I don't think so. Plus there were reports out that said Wall Street was projected to keep a steady growth with a Biden victory.

Ok big guy. Enjoy your L. Hey how’s hunters laptop

Taking the L just fine; I came to terms with it yesterday.  Honestly this may have been the best result for America since the Senate didn't swing.  We wont have the widespread looting and rioting that was assured had Trump won, covid coverage will shift and fear/lockdowns/restrictions should subside in the spring, and we will be well on our way to recovery from 2020 by summer.

So...what can Elizabeth Warren, Treasury Secretary accomplish without a blue senate?

I don't think you can take her out of the Senate. There's going to be at most a 1 vote difference, one way or the other. Mass has a Republican governor so he'll appoint a Republican.

Have any Republican politicians publicly commented on vote count or the election yet?  Curious to see if they are lining up behind Trump's assault on the mail in vote.

I think they fact you're asking is all we need to know... quiet as crickets. He didn't do himself any favors declaring premature victory. No one wants to tie themselves to that remark or him.

Who cares?  Just executive order everything.  Remember, that’s cool now.

No, no.  We should work with our Republican friends across the aisle.  I'd like to see more things like Feinstein hugging Lindsey as he shoves a knife in our eye.

So for people who followed through the night, on some of the crazy boards a lot of people are complaining about a middle of the night "138,000 vote dump" in Michigan that was "100% for Biden, totally impossible." Anyone know what they're referring to?

Biden's shadyness and overall mental capacity/age would have cost democrats had it been a normal election year where he had a lot more coverage.

You’ll forgive them for thinking that old, shady, and diminished mental capacity seemed like a winning combo.

The governor doesn’t get to appoint the replacement. The Mass legislature does, I believe. They’re super blue.

It was a red mirage situation. The red mirage theory suggested that Trump will look like he is winning on election night, but when the mail in votes started being counted, Biden would jump ahead. That is exactly what happened. Michigan could not legally start counting mail in votes until last night, and those are heavily democratic.

Really curious how many of them try to distance themselves and pull off some version of, "Phew, thank God that's over. Now we can go back to normal red vs. blue politics!" when the whole lot of them would have let Eric Trump fuck their daughters if it meant keeping their seats.

Those states need to change their vote counting methods after this... no reason they should not be able to count prior to election day, even if just a couple days prior

So you’re saying Joe Biden is better for America?

At least we live to see another day. The important thing was getting Trump out of office.

Spare me the "well he might run again" or "he's not going away". I know. But he needs to be out of office now.

He won't run again. I predict that he will die in circumstances just murky enough  that they will allow Q-Anon types and conspiracy buffs the room to REALLY  stretch out.   It will be a parting gift from the President.

Probably all of the black people in Detroit that told Trump to go fuck himself.

They tried to change them this year to address that very thing. It was blocked by republicans in each of the local legislatures

Absolutely. Someone said that it was intentionally done like this to make people question the votes, as you see Trump doing.

Arizona's blue trifecta makes me so happy. Someday that will be Texas.

Nothing about the results from last night indicate that Texas is turning blue. A historically inept, unpopular racist will win this state by 8 points. The house did not flip, as was predicted. Cornyn won running away. This state is as deeply red as it ever was.

If/when Biden wins, it will be great.

I think the majority (literal in this case) woke up today depressed because they realized that there is still a large portion of the country that saw 4 years of Trump's narcissism, corruption, pettiness, mismanagement, anti-democratic shit and we're still like, yep he's my guy.

It's depressing

This.  There was never a "win" on the table here.  It was always gong to be a toss-up, which tells us that we are a broken, broken country.  Nothing I saw last night surprised me.  Disappointed me, yes, but not surprised.

SO.....I slept.  Had to knock out some work.  Where are we at this moment?

Texas will never go blue. But hopefully we can force the GOP's platform to change and become more progressive to be able to hang on to Texas.

We will never know for sure, but I firmly believe Warren and Sanders both would have lost this election.   Probably pretty badly, too, as things turned out.

Agreed.  Look at the gains Trump made with hispanics with the socialism charge against Biden.  It would have been worse with an actual socialist on the ticket.

Quote

(f) Upon failure to choose a senator in congress or upon a vacancy in that office, the governor shall make a temporary appointment to fill the vacancy; provided, however, that the person so appointed shall serve until the election and qualification of the person duly elected to fill the vacancy pursuant to subsection (a) or (c).

From the state website. Appointed, then a special election.

No I get that. These people are specifically talking about a large dump of votes that were literally 100% Biden.

It's a lot like the 8-man team my client coaches in Kansas scoring 3 touchdowns and hitting 2 onsides to do so in the last 3 minutes to win 42-40.
