So the pussy who hauled ass from supporters he egged on earlier wrote a book on Manhood?  JFC.

That's our timeline.

Next up, "Leading from the Front:  Lessons as Commander-in-Chief and January 6th in My Bunker" by Donald Trump

"Take Charge:  Awakening your Inner Cocaine Bear" by Don, Jr.

"Great Patriots in American History:  Proposing Two Countries from Capitol Hill in 2023 with no Irony" by Marjorie Taylor Greene

To be fair, there's one honest title coming out next month:

"Can I Watch?"  by Jim Jordan

Here are some of the reviews on GoodReads where around 26 people out of 26 ratings gave it one star:

1. "Manhood: man-hood noun 1. The act of raising a fist, while protected by barricades and Capitol police, to the treasonous masses you're attempting to fleece, then fleeing like Chicken Little when the same insurrectionists actually storm the Capitol building you're cowering in.

Not even Josh Hawley can embody his toxic ideal of masculinity. Sad."

2. "This book has bestseller written all over it. Learn about manhood by a "man" who helps incite a mob and then runs like a little girl, a "man" who uses his sister's address to run for office representing a state in which he doesn't reside, a "man" who pretends he's just one of the little guys but graduated from both Harvard and Yale. Truly a load of bs from a con artist."

3. "I hear they’re making the book out of glass, so it will be as fragile as his “masculinity.”"

4. "The blurb says, "No republic has ever survived without men of character to defend what is just and true." What on earth does that have to do with Hawley? A book that doesn't need to be read."

5. "Manhood is a topic rarely discussed by people who are secure in their own."

Barnes and Noble has zero reviews and whether that is because no one has read it or they disabled reviews I cannot answer. Similar with Amazon. Only editorial reviews.

The Onion, however, has a nice slideshow about the book: (SIAP)

Au contraire, kidney donor.  You said

"I haven't read the book but I will bet one of my kidneys that Trump meets less than 20% of those criteria."

Dammit.  Well there's gotta be something in the intro that exonerates me.

Mrs. Whiggin's post brings up a good point.  There is a difference between discussing "Masculinity" and talking about being a better man.  I don't think I've ever had one conversation about the core principles of Masculinity, or the erosion thereof in modernity.  But I think something is critically part of being a "Good Man" is asking for help from those you want to emulate on how to be a better husband, or father, or servant.  And big hint here Josh, you don't just talk about these things with other "Manly Men!"  You make yourself vulnerable and ask for advice and feedback from women and children as well.

FWIW, I agree with the virtues that Hawley mentions in the chapters.  We're just laughing at him because he thinks he and his idols embody them, when they catatostrophically fail them more than any of us. The 5 pillars aside, just take any 10 or 20 stereotypes about being a "manly man" or "American Masculinity", and they can be good, bad, or indifferent.  Trump fails so spectacularly at the list, it's fucking beyond me.  But i guess that's the draw, he's this gelatinous orange mound of lying shit on which American men could project all their toxic crap.

Jeez, if only there was a clip of a Marine Colonel who sternly states that when the shit hits the fan, "Some guys run, and some guys stay!" to use as a soundbite.  And golly, if only that actor and producer would gladly give over the rights to such a clip.  Why Hawley might be in some trouble and the ads would write themselves.  OORAH!

Sorry man ... all I did was click "share this tweet"  and copied the link.   I had no idea it was going to unfurl like the Dead Sea Scrolls on acid.

That's a link to a whole timeline instead of just a tweet

I'm not sure I even knew that was possible

Somebody tweet at this stupid fuck that Britain abolished slavery in the 1830s and Mexico before that. The enslaved people in North America would have been freed a generation sooner if the United States had been unsuccessful in the revolution.

I've made a few "States' rights!" morons' heads explode informing them that the British fucking Colonies were slave free at least two decades before America.

I guarantee you at least 80% of dotard voters think that America was the first nation to make slavery illegal.  Guaran-fucking-tee.

Cultural Marxists in the C-suite?  Is that like the new "Corporate Socialism"?

Hawley, "They're just bowing to the woke crowd to make more money and be more popular with the key purchasing 18-35 demographic.  That's all this is."

Us, "Okay, so they're taking advantage of wokeness out of capitalistic greed to sell more shit?"

Hawley, "Precisely."

Us, "Okay, so how is that Marxist exactly?"

Hawley, "I gotta run.  Literally."

I'm starting to think they don't actually require you to study anything at "elite" private universities

He knows it's wrong but doesn't care.  It makes the MAGA people happy and that's all that matters.

I forgot this asshole was still in congress.  Is there any chance of him being defeated in 2024?

Judging by the people my BIL hangs with in Mizzery, nope.

Christianity is the faith that slaveholders used to justify maintaining slavery.  He should read his history of the times.

His history? Hell, he should read his Bible. The Bible endorses slavery.
