LOL that's why I said 'two evils', and that we've seen this shit before. These contract negotiations are nothing new. Content owners trying to get to a point where we have to go directly to them and they hold all the cards is a bit of a twist. And that's all fine, I guess, but when they wanna raise the price to a stupid level, then I'm out. I don't see YTTV doing anything else the cable/streaming aggregators haven't been doing for as long as they've existed. Disney isn't trying to do all of this to make less money, so I assume if they get their way, ESPN is gonna cost me a lot more than it costs for me to get it through YTTV.

I guess I just disagree either is the "lesser of".  Disney/ESPN is almost certainly the most valuable 'bundled' property on the YTTV platform considering other streamers (NFLX, Max, etc.) now completely dominate TV and movies.  I would say over 80% of our family usage of YTTV is live sports or ABC (which we watch for local news, etc.).   My kids watch almost all their shows on other services.  My wife watches a handful of Bravo.  We might watch cable news a handful of times per year if a big event.  That's really it.  Google offering a $20 credit for Disney IMO flat out proves it was previously significantly mispriced.  It wouldn't surprise me if Disney is taking the position that YTTV should be paying Disney a premium over what their direct subscription would cost as a way to get others to pay for all the other shit on YTTV that nobody watches and they are probably correct.

Well, having one’s taint licked does cost extra, so it’s still in the right thread!

Only if your divorce lawyer is completely incompetent, though.

McAfee...

This was after Mike Greenberg told posted this:

McAfee's response...

“We’re all done with it. And also, if you’re on TV, stop telling people to go to a website to save a multi-billion-dollar deal. Nobody cares what you have to say. There will be nothing that we have to say or any website that will be visited. There are, I don’t want to say the exact names, but these people (hands up high), let’s put our swords down. Let’s put our swords down for the good of sports."

He added:

“We need each other. A lot of people saying ‘greedy corporations,’ it’s like, yeah. We need each other, especially with where sports are right now. And we’re in the middle of it, so let’s get it done. And stop asking me to go to a website. I don’t want to do that, so stop... all you’re doing is pissing everybody off even more. So it’s like, let’s just not do that.”

“You’d better do something or you will lose channels you are already paying for…. in fact, you will lose really the only channels you even use” really grinds my gears.

This is where I am but I have yet to buy an antenna.

Looking at some and I am in Georgetown.

The cheapest one says the range is thirty miles or so and the step up says the range is fifty miles which I will purchase before this weekend if needed. Many good games on ABC this Saturday too.

Also will try either Sling or FUBO by Saturday if needed.

Suggestions ?

As far as antennas, I've had good luck with the ones imbedded in a rectangular plastic sheet, with their own power plug.  They are 30 bucks.  The plug and antenna coax go into a little pre-amplifier that then goes to the TV coax.  One of those should get KVUE and other Austin stations from there with no problem.  Put the plastic sheet as high as possible and try different orientations.

To be fair, 2 out of 3 of those are playing into Disney's hands

3 out of 3. All are either owned by Disney, or caved and paid Disney's new asking price.

I get that rooting for either company is like having to choose between cancer vs AIDS, but at this particular moment in time, I'm Team YouTube.

All parties suck but the main culprit though is Disney/ESPN.  They are the ones who want you to switch.

Let us remember that this fiasco is contributed to, in part, by those nice contracts the SEC gets so we get paid.

It was mentioned earlier, but Sling only offers ABC in certain areas. I'm in DC and it's not offered here.

Even though they dont offer abc in that area, the abc games are aired on espn3 thru Sling. Maybe someone with Sling can verify?

Thanks, much appreciated:

Yes, most significant sports games (especially college football and select NFL games) that air on ABC are also simulcast on ESPN3, which is included with a Sling Orange subscription in the Washington DC area and everywhere else.
While Sling TV does not typically offer a local ABC channel feed in the Washington DC area (though it does offer local FOX and NBC in that market with the Blue plan), the specific games you are asking about are available through the national ESPN3 feed on Sling TV.
Here is how you can watch:
  • Sling Orange Plan: This package includes ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN3. This is the primary way to access the ABC games through the ESPN3 simulcast.

I feel this in the core of my being.
