Classes you've taken

CSB:

Not me, but my twin brother.  Back before he got kicked out of the school of business circa late 1980's:

In his first or second semester he took macro economics 302 and got a solid C. A semester or two later he thought he was signing up for micro economics but accidentally registered for macro economics 302 again and took the class without recognizing that all of the material was somehow familiar, but the second time around he made a D, which according to university rules at the time, covered up the C he made earlier.  So he had to take it a third time and "reearned" a grade of C.

FYI: Jiggy-Z graduated with a 3.5, but did earn on D along the way in Cost accounting, but that was the semester I knocked up my girlfriend.  Retook and made an A.

Yes, a couple of real intellectual giants we were.

Son and I were discussing thread.  He said his Cow( Junior) year at West Point when he took 27 credits hours in one semester sucked ass.  Computer Science degree.

Said Operating Systems and then Algorithms were the worst/ toughest beating classes.

that would be all my classes

For me, I'd be like: gun-to-head-nodding.gif

On the other hand, it was so much fun when all the cocky Mechanical and Aero chumps took a token programming class. It was joy to see them driven before me, and to hear the lamentations of their women.

literally dont remember taking mountain geoecology (wut?)

medical geography was one of the worst and intensive classes ever. literally from starting minute 0 to end, instructor provided sheer volumes of uninterrupted, non-stop information. the entire course was just exercise in memory retention with zero thinking or learning values.

the worst class was environmental hydro. 8am start and boring as fuck.

suicide terrorism was…uh…..for an A all I literally did was turn  in 2 papers of 3-pg length.  thank you allah

Sahotra Sarkar?  I had him for environmental ethics and it was explicitly stated by one of his grad students that grading was based on regurgitation.

It was some wimmen.  This was early 00s, before i had ever heard of wikipedia.

It was sorta cool that i know random superficial trivia about malaria, tuberculosis, and yellow fever. But kinda shady to pay tuition for someone to essentially read off an entire wikipedia entry on a disease, and the measure of student competence is simply being able to recite factoids back from it.

TI 58C bitches.

I never did switch to an HP.  I used a TI-54 for most of it, and then, an old Scout leader who was fairly high in the calculator division gifted me this beast.

Texas Instruments TI-74.jpg

With a matrix module, it could handle 32x32.  And it was programmable in a BASIC variant, so I never had to learn some obscure "language."

First semester - failed a 5 hour Spanish I class and dropped a math class.

Last semester - took some litigation seminar and the bar exam.

Somewhere in between, I got my shit together.

Pretty much this exactly except replace Spanish with German.

Some of you took way too many hard classes.  I spent the first year in AE and predictably failed out.

After a stint in the Navy I got smart and ended up majoring in Film.  This allowed me to party hard and still get a degree.

It also forced me to return for grad school where I learned that MBAs are just bunch of people who return to school for the express purpose of getting wasted.

I think I took all 3 of those classes that semester -- the Statics prof was a Cal Tech guy who was determined to fill up the chalkboard with equations, Gov was Sharon Marmon, and calc was Bruce ??? who everyone hated but I thought he was great.  Maybe that was DiffEQ.

I took the 500 person class with Daly... at the time the largest class size at UT - https://commstudies.utexas.edu/faculty/john-daly

Also had Sager that came up recently in the Chris Beard thread... https://www.austinchronicle.com/news/2003-05-30/161549/

Had a class with Ekland-Olsen... on the day of one of his tests, I slept in and then ran to class only to see everyone walking out.  I was a dumbass (typical) and showed up an hour late.  Anyway, I plead my case to him and he let me retake it.  Still got a crappy grade.  https://liberalarts.utexas.edu/sociology/faculty/seo1944

I have a million dumbass stories.

Other than that, the usual crap.

I had Daly. Interesting class, but I was certain he'd get in trouble for sexually assaulting his haram of TAs.

ME 202 - Intro to Engineering in '74. Dr. Schmidt gave a slide rule test and everyone had to pass before we moved on. He said every engineer before us knew how to use one and that wasn't going to stop on his watch.  Still have it.

Actually I think there is a copy paste error.  I did take 408D spring 98, but I also pledged SigEp and did not pass.  408C was tough too, but not as bad.  I got a B with a 34% average.  1500 student curve I think.

Haha this explains a lot then. I was wondering how you took 408d twice but passed diffEQ the first time. I got b’s in both 408 sections but uh….well I passed 427 eventually. That and some of the soph semester ase courses are what eventually made me drop aerospace. The counselor told me, based on my grades up to that point, that I wouldn’t be able to to graduate and still work full time which I didn’t doubt.

Btw, working full time in college sucks.
