New sex scandal is about to break

image.thumb.png.924f6e77e9dbc46b381c54aeba09ebf4.png

I'll be mildly surprised if it's not Hegseth - although I have no idea what could possibly make things make sense.

Well, Looner has seemed to be quite allied with Hegseth, although her loyalties seem to be ever-shifting.'

Judging by her most recent spewage, this would seem to be Musk, if he is a "high level official."

Or, MTG, she's a whore and she and Looner can't stand each other.

Or, she's been calling for Blondi's resignation and that would sort of "make sense."

I'm making the assumption this is what it's about - so either Hegseth or the Sec of the Army.

Look, I'm perfectly fine if private accounts from MAGA media, interest groups, or individuals keep pumping out unfunny shit like this.  But motherfucking Christ, we've gotten to a point in our government that normalizes public agencies and officials doing this shit???  We continue to circle the societal drain.

It is the collapse of the American empire. It was guaranteed to happen at some point, we just happen to be the unlucky bastards alive to live the ride down to destruction of our culture and society.

Every year, month by month, will be worse for Americans. This is going to be an extremely ugly collapse.

I couldn't come up with a single one worthy of the punishment of a dry Catholic wedding reception in Wichita Falls."

There.  Just wrote the first paragraph of my novel.

I thought about just leaving this really odd but telling post alone, but . . .

@Elvis What would possess you to open a thread about the decline of America and the destruction of our democracy and post a sales video about a multi-million dollar yacht for billionaires?

Weren't you trying to sell your used Chevy Avalanche a couple of years ago?  There's a bumpsticker around these days that says "You're closer to being homeless than to being a billionaire."  I've seen your house, dude.  You better hope to God for some of that good old fashioned Biden stability, because if things keep up you're going to wish you had that Avalanche so you could put a camper on the back.

(Edit: found it)

I still have my avalanche.  It’s fully restored for my son to drive.  I’m also teaching him to drive standard in my 911. I don’t know why my cars are relevant.  Neither are my finances or my age, or my race.

I thought that yacht   had a beautiful interior design that would be a nice style for the White House.  Nice use of gold tones and great lines.

I think it’s funny that people rail on interior design and somehow make that a political issue.

If the Democratic Party is the "permanent minority" then why all the effort to suppress their vote?

The same reason we have to destroy the satellite gathering intelligence on global warming that doesn't exist.  And once we have brainwashing disguised as education instead of independent thought, then we'll openly demand to drink purified fracking water.  Personally, I'd prefer Brawndo in this scenario, but we'll get worse.

They say he's the worst dog ever. Very low-IQ dog. I barely knew him.

We had a cocker spaniel growing up.  I can vouch for the very low-IQ dog statement.  Great dog, but dumb as shit.

Yeah I went to a wedding in 2021 for two Italian Catholics and not only did everyone get a bottle of wine with their name on it, but the reception was down in Jersey. Drove an hour to ge there to watch all these Italians get trashed as well as everyone else there. I had stopped drinking well before then, but it was impressive to watch.

When my stepson was planning his wedding, I took control of the alcohol planning and procurement. I told him to get a list of drinks that he and his fiancée’s friends like to drink. I compiled a list of the liquor that we needed to make the drinks plus some good whiskey, wine, champagne.

I went to total wine and elicited the assistance of the staff for recommendations. Did tastings of many of their recommendations. Spent about $1500. Total wine said I could return any unopened bottles.

I made a drink menu with a description of the drinks, ingredients, spirits (origin, ratings, flavor profile) and put the 10 page menu in a leather bound restaurant menu cover. I made 10 of these menus so that people could browse them while in line at the open bar.

When the reception was winding down and the bar was closing, the kids started grabbing full unopened bottles of liquor and running out to the bus that was taking them to their hotel. I was hammered and was unaware of the goings on. My wife and other sober adults were trying to stop the crime of the century. She came over and informed me of the heist. I laughed. I would expect nothing less. I did manage to save a few of the choice bottles for myself.

My BIL put on a very expensive wedding for his daughter. Lots of people, open bar, decent selection. I was with him not long after when the company gave him the final tally of bottles opened and cost. It was like $150k.

A true, red hat American would blame the immigrants and then walk on the bill, or pay what they wanted to, ala Trump.

Any general who puts his promotion and career ahead of his/her oath to the Constitution in these days is a traitor. The Trump interviews with top staff promotion candidates form a line in the sand. You can't pledge fealty and remain true to your oath.

The traitor above lays out the terms. Even praise from a Democratic president is cause for suspicion.

This is a very bad dream.

Reminds me of the last time I staggered into a West Texas confessional.   Stupid me thought the priest was on the other side grunting and groaning, until I knocked on the wall and heard “no use knocking, ain’t no toilet paper on this side neither!  “

And even a really solid education is no guarantee..

Engineering and business majors? I generally agree.

Although I could never set up a little political science shop on the corner and make a living, the older I get the more I value the traditional liberal arts education I received at UF.    Being required to take sociology and history and psychology and humanities credits with my poli-sci courses - I feel that gave me a better chance to learn critical thinking and to more easily understand when you are being bullshitted in a political situation. Granted, job opportunities were more law school or rental car counter or barista due to that.

I remember talking to an engineer neighbor a long time ago about some Charlie Daniels political screed that the neighbor loved.   I laughed and asked him if he knew anything about rhetoric or if he knew anything about logical fallacies.

I told him he should study rhetoric so he could instantly recognize things in the Charlie Daniels manifesto (that contained several “no true Scotsman”statements, and referenced “wine drinking liberals”, etc.)

I told him once you recognize how rhetoric and fallacies were put out there to deceive and manipulate you, you will instantly have a better idea who to trust and what information to discard or what to pursue in a validity search.

To be clear, I’m not saying that is the only way to be a critical thinker, or that only people with a liberal arts education are critical thinkers.    But it has been my experience that having the skill to solve engineering problems with physics and mathematics (courses I could never pass in 1000 years) does not translate as well to understand when you are being manipulated and grifted by people like Trump.

Through no fault of their own - or their education - they are more susceptible to being victims of the type of rhetoric they often fall for.  Because they are simply unaware that rhetoric is a system and a skill employed to convince and manipulate people - using specific techniques that have been identified for thousands of years and are still very effective.

Even at the high school level there should be mandatory courses on rhetoric to hopefully reduce the number of gullible people falling for what is obvious bullshit - at least obvious bullshit that is readily apparent to a lot of other people.

Who would have ever thought that critical thinking might come in handy when navigating a social order designed by a state dominated by the forces of capital.

Why bother with any of it at all?

Is it just habit combined with confirmation bias at this point?
