60% of us live from paycheck to paycheck, as we prepare ourselves to live among  the first wave of AI sponsored trillionaires. The widening gap between the uber wealthy and the working poor will only get worse. The kind of income inequality were are experiencing is the stuff revolutions are made of.

Except the poor won’t go after the trillionaires because they can’t reach them. They’ll go after the middle class folks who bought a new Chevy. Because that’s rich when you’re driving a 10 year old beater. And Elon doesn’t live in the next neighborhood over but maybe that guy with a house a little better than your apartment does.

Tl;dr - the revolution will eat itself

The lady on MSNBC I thought had a good argument RE: Fat Boy and a 3rd term. She said there’s nothing in the constitution that prevents him from running and getting the radical republican nomination. After that, it’s a constitutional crisis and he’s shown he can go around the constitution so many times that there’s no telling what will happen at the point where he’s the nominee.

I don’t understand how there’s a certain segment of the population who is enjoying this American timeline right now.

They've always been there and have always been stupid and racisty.  Before Trump, they a) didn't vote b) in a bloc and c) kept their stupidity, racism, and conspiracy theories mostly to themselves.  They need to be told to sit down and shut the fuck up again.

Thats why its so important to call out their bullshit in our personal lives. Embarass them in public, online, every where. They dont understand much except when people point and laugh at them.

I do.  It's become clear that there's two growing segments in America:  (1) ignorant assholes who know nothing about the Constitution and think it's perfectly fine for Trump to run for a third term, and (2) assholes who know goddamn well that the Constitution prevents Trump from running for a third term and just want to see our democratic institutions burn to the ground.

These folks are no longer living in the margins.

At this point if he runs, he wins. They will cook the books so fucking hard it's not even funny. The only chance we have is somehow winning majorities in the 2026 mid-terms. We lose those and America is lost for most of our lifetimes. (And I have doubts on whether the '26 elections will be "fair.")

stupid question alert...

i honestly don't know if this has anything directly to do with Trump's America but im asking here bc i do recall the DOGE attacks on NOAA/NWS as well as in depth conversations on making weather data a commodity and how shitty that was going to make weather apps, etc...

but the largest hurricane in history (maybe?) is currently wreaking havoc not far from the Florida coast and my Weatherbug app radar of the area looks like this 🤨

Screenshot_20251028_103347_WeatherBug.thumb.jpg.71d5a642d4d481b16b83121216cb9666.jpg

do we not have data coming from PR or Bahamas or someplace nearby? this is the stupid question part...but wtf? 🤔

“No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice…”

—22nd Amendment

That seems like a pretty clear bar that would prevent states from putting him on the ballot. Now if your argument is that the Constitution and laws are being ignored and neither the Courts or Congress is willing to do anything about it, well that’s a different conversation. But don’t tell me  “there’s nothing in the constitution that prevents him from running”

They for sure will try to get him on the ballot as the nominee but if they can’t bend the courts to do that, they’ll absolutely run him as vp and have him become potus when Vance steps down, and then he nominates Vance as new vp.  And they won’t hide it, they’ll run on it.

“But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice President of the United States” -12th Amendment

No, that doesn’t work either. Now if you tell me “lol it’s all Calvin ball” fine. But regardless of what Newsmax asks Trump on AF1, there is no “VP loophole”

Trump Says He Is Prepared to Send ‘More Than the National Guard’ Into U.S. Cities

I chortled at this choice bit of rhetoric

Quote

But throughout his nearly hourlong speech, his usual ramblings about the physical appearances of audience members and steam-powered catapults were laced with dark warnings about how he might choose to deploy military forces.

Master statesman...

Quote

“Our ultimate strength does not come from equipment,” he said. “It comes from the men and women of the rank and file. That’s true. It comes from you people, incredible people, good-looking people. Too many good-looking people. I don’t like good-looking people. I never liked good-looking people. I’ll be honest with you, never admitted that before.”

Much as I hate to say it, I don't think the 12th prevents him from running as VP.  He would not be constitutionally ineligible to serve as President, just constitutionally ineligible to run as President.  However, I don't think his ego would allow him to run as VP because he just won't be able to wrap his head around the fact that someone would actually give up the job willingly.  I think it's all a moot point because absent a Weekend at Bernie's situation, I can't imagine him being around in '28

“That was written and ratified before the 22nd was drafted, therefore the 22nd wasn’t a consideration and is exempt from the 12th.”

Or whatever. They’ll do it one way or another.

in a way, I kind of hope he’s basically incapacitated but still alive, such that everyone can see it, and he still “wins” the nomination and the election.  May as well do it all the way if we’re going to do it. Bonus if all the hayseeds don’t vote for him and are confused as to how he gets so many votes and wins.

Look people are willing to argue the 14th Amendment doesn’t actually confer birthright citizenship to people born in the US - people are capable of bad faith arguments and other great disingenuous BS. But the constitution is clear. Whether anyone is willing to enforce it- I don’t know, and I admit that’s a separate issue

I don't agree with you on the 22nd, but I tend to think it was poorly written.  "Being elected" is not the same as "running".  Now, does that mean that someone who successfully runs for a 3rd term cannot be sworn in?  It's vague.

And yes, the usual disclaimer applies:  the Constitution means nothing to Trump, MAGA or even the SCOTUS majority, so I'm not expecting anything but chicanery.

To be fair what Pancho said was the Republican Party has the final word on its own primaries and nominees, and so can ostensibly put forward a candidate that is ineligible for office.

Usual disclaimer for this timeline, yada, yada, yada.

I suppose anyone can "run" all they like, but if you're ineligible to serve, you don't appear on the ballot. Morons are free to write in anyone they want, but if that individual is ineligible to serve, those votes won't be counted. It's clear that Trump is ineligible to serve as President or Vice President and he should not appear on any ballot for those offices.

Again, usual disclaimer for this timeline, yada, yada, yada.

Do y’all remember Team R all collectively frothing at the mouth circa 2014 or so, because they had somehow convinced themselves that Obama would try to run for a third term? Based on, of course, absolutely nothing? I member.

But now…. oh that was different gif.

They’ll use consecutive terms as the fulcrum to differentiate Trump and Obama, should anyone suggest that Obama run against Trump in 28.

that won’t be available in 2032 if they can keep him alive that long, but they’ll find something to fake justify it even though everyone will have seen his total and complete incapacitation during the televised visit from 2031 national championship winning Vanderbilt qb Dr. Diego Pavia.

I'm not sure what you're saying here, in neither case would 2028 Trump V Obama be 3 consecutive terms, but as we all know will happen, the "logic" will be tortured to the point that SCOTUS rubber stamps Trump and rejects Obama.

Trump's first two terms were not consecutive. Obama's were. Therefore the amendment doesn't apply to Trump, but it does apply to Obama.

Or something.
