it's like when @Onboard 2.0 used to come in here and claim people were taking trump's "good people on both sides" out of context, even when posting the full video and full transcript.

If you are “burning sensation when you urinate for Jesus,” you may have been molested by your priest.

The first generation to grow up on social media seems broken beyond repair. If you start this cruel and conservative….. where does that lead when you’re old, crusty, and middle aged like me?

Absolutely agree. Maybe it was inevitable. I joined Facebook in I think 2005 when I was 23 and I’m so glad I didn’t have to grow up with it.

I don’t blame them, but I also do.  Social media is a horrifying thing, but I have to leave some room for not being a piece of shit also. And to have Gen Z look to organized religion for…whatever?  Ugh

I think the kid was right wing after thinking about it. But because government doesn’t know shit about people his age that are chronically online gamers who hang out in discord their clues come off as left wing, well the version of left wing they think exist.

Internet found all his usernames now and it appears he was big into furries. Not that any of us here are surprised. So now we get to sit back and watch them try and tie furries to trans and trans to the shooter. His roommate was clearly a furry. Something I noticed right away. As far as the right wing thing goes. He isn't going to fit in a box familiar to us olds, who want it to be a slam dunk. Kid is an incel first and foremost. Probably stumbled into furries on something like 4chan because erection. If you sat this dude down and asked his views on black people, capitalism, guns, and the environment, you would probably get opinions that would align with @Enchubben. Until you got to the lgbtq and then he would likely say they should be left alone. It seems weird to most, but not to me, a guy from a marginalized community. I know gay and lesbians who hate transpeople. I know black people who love them some Trump.

I've been around a long time and y'all know I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but something is going on here. Regardless of whether they were to protect or convict, the text messages are too perfect. At the same time, for a guy who spilled the beans like a Bond villain, the many discords he was in were strangely quiet. The weird old dude. The guy carrying the pellet rifle. How did he know how and where Kirk would be positioned? How smoothly he got to the position without being spotted suggested he did his homework. Even in the video well before when someone noticed him up there, you could barely see him. The whole thing doesn't smell right.

They deserve blame.  Assuming they is the internet/software "titans" and not merely the users.

Most of these technocrats have an insufferable social arrogance.  Their belief in their own "disruption" and that the rules of bricks and mortar business didn't apply to them was seriously internalized.  Now they think they're too good for democracy, or really any existing government that might try to regulate or restrain their disruptive greatness and unbelievable intellect.  And everyone that doesn't wholeheartedly share their self-belief is an intellectual pygmy moron.

Part of it is flat greed, but another pretty serious part of their sociopathy is their belief in the infallibility of their products and services.

There's a reason most of them, from Gates and Jobs on down, are weird little sociopaths.  And now they have undue influence on how this country is run.

In my sport discord I own there is a Michigan fan that’s is an electrician and in his 30’s. He’s die hard MAGA but is also a gay furry himself. He calls his boyfriend his dragon and goes to the furry conventions and everything.

A guy on NPR this morning who’s a supposed expert in social media culture said that a lot of the Gen Z internet world in which Tyler Robinson lived has a strong incel foundation, and from that has grown a lot of radicalization that has no real connection to any party ideology. All of the Boomers and Gen X’ers who only became familiar with social media later in their lives trying to connect this shit to the left or right are clueless.

And from that world, he said that the stuff inscribed on the bullet casings are largely social media trolling with no genuine political ideology or thoughts behind them.

These kids are fucked.

I haven't thought about Onboard in a long while.  He was a complete idiot.

Did he get tired of "asking questions" or did he get banned?

Apparently a lot of the Silicon Valley crowd thinks there are just too many people on the planet and we need to get rid of some of them via the eugenics of RFK and Heinrich Himmler.

I am so often the only person in a room not glued to a phone. Most often, I don't carry my phone with me. My deal with phones is more of a pathology than a virtue.

It's interesting to watch something change the personal world so completely and profoundly. At first, it was younger people. Being older, I was naturally ignorantly disdainful. As the change spread to persons of all ages, I was worried, but I changed my disposition to neutral. Just because I can't see how this is a good thing doesn't mean it isn't a good thing.

I probably concluded this while in a waiting room idly thinking rather than absorbing ephemera from a little electronic box.

Since video tape machines, it has become possible to keep children distracted watching the same shows over and over. Not that concept is portable and provides access to everything including the occasional plan to attack Yemen.

Original thought is what I think we lose. We become quoting machines who choose a position and regurgitate what ever makes us feel more secure and righteous.

I'm concluding now that all of this is a bad thing. Another bad thing that I can have absolutely no affect on.

My sorta out there brother mentioned years ago that the powers that be want a big die-off. Back then he was only sorta out there, so often his predictions worked out. It was worth remembering the things he said for that reason.

We have a (now) billionaire leading the Murder Cult Party taking step after step to kill or instill policies that will result in huge death tolls worldwide. We've abandoned AIDS programs in Africa, some specifically assigned to treat HIV-positive children. PLAGUE We don't ship food or aid for food FAMINE We've stepped aside from peacemaking and support an invader WAR What does all of this get us? DEATH

I've though for decades that if there is a guiding intelligence to the universe, it must be based in irony and self-fulfilling prophecy. A wry smile for those gods fucking around with the  Book of Revelation.

I haven't seen this rhetorical device in a while. I guess it's because all the cultists stay segregated.

Two things are going on here. On the surface, it attacks persons attempting to maintain a virtue as hypocrites when they fail to be perfect.

Beneath the surface is the usual writhing bag of snakes mental illness of the Limbaugh-ists: Because you fail to fully adhere to a virtue you preach, there is no reason for me to be accountable for adhering at all!

Gee, what kind of people are anti-tolerance? The  best people, of course!

I never expected them to stomp the lowest bar for decency (simple tolerance) all the way to the ground.

Please let me stay ignorant about stuff like this for as long as I can so that I can still sorta love college football. NFL fans have won in their (possibly blind) effort to make college football like their beloved league. I practically covered my ears and started repeating lalalalalalalala when it was mentioned last season that our top QBs were MAGA.

I prefer to think it's youthful folly. Embracing this delusion keeps me going.

Oh, and what are the discords? Thanks to anyone who clues me in.

It will have been over a month at that point. Four and a half weeks. Will they also have one for the astronauts killed in the Challenger explosion?

It's the new-age, closed source IRC chat slash teamspeak. It's far more functionality than that, but socially it's the same.

Discord is a collection of chat rooms (aka "servers") that can curate and moderate independently of eachother and act as micro-communities. It's effectively message boards for genZ, except they're far more closed off and insular and move at a significantly faster pace.

My buddies use discord for voice chat while gaming, or when we do our D&D game remotely on the rare occasion. There's a surly discord too, but it's mainly just there for people to chirp at imma when surly goes down

"... that led to the coffee shop's temporary closure."

WTF? They had to close because they thought someone wrote loser on a cup? Who are the supposed snowflakes again?

That was such an obvious r/thathappened fake story. I saw that a few days ago and had no idea it actually went viral. Is there any bias confirming lie for which these retards won't fall?

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this:

So 100,000 people, including Trump/Vance and most of his administration, will be in attendance less than 2 weeks after Kirk was assassinated in public. The amount of security needed to properly protect people is enormous.

Will this be a peaceful, somber presentation? Or will Trump try to rile people up against "the left"?

Just seems like a powder keg moment.
