Theo is hilarious to me. I have never seen a clip where he was MAGA, but comparing to him to Dane Cook feels wrong.

Dude was invited to and attended the inauguration, pretty much is enough for me.

The Trump administration considers Theo Von as an ally, so much so that they included a clip of him in a DHS deportation shitpost video without asking for permission.

One of my early football memories is attending the Thanksgiving game where Creed performed at halftime. In the middle of their heyday and peak of their stardom. It's used as a meme now, and you can find the clips all over the internet for a cool little chuckle, but at 12-13 years old I fucking hated it. I had their CD on loop, so to hear the same mix and realize that they were half-assing a syncing I got pissed. I think that was when I found out that not all performances are live. It would certainly fit the bill of White America demanding artists that haven't had a hit in over two decades though. Back to the good ol' days or whatever.

Sat next to Theo on a plane 20 years ago when he was only known for Road Rules. He was hilarious and also one of the dumber people I’ve ever talked to. It’s no surprise he’s thriving in this timeline.

I'd describe him more as 'confused & uninformed'. But then, I guess that's how I'd also describe most MAGAts.

In a world where Dems are forced to look to people like Tucker Carlson and Ted Cruz to stand up for them, I don't think we can afford to be too stringent in our purity tests

I assume that we’re not far from the Right’s 17th boycott of the NFL in the last 10 years. The Right only believes in zero games. Talk about helping out a non-white person, then you’re taking something away from the Right.

Javale! Always had a soft spot for him and drafted him many times on my fantasy basketball teams as a reserve back in the day.

I saw him walking through IAH a few years ago and wanted to say hi, but he had that exact face on so I didn't, lol.

You should've. Javale is like the nicest guy ever. He probably would've been stoked you recognized him instead of the "Do you play basketball?"he usually gets. My wife is still hanging on to her warmups and backpack for who knows why. Lol

This here, it's been memed. The current effort is just a brotastic "Remember when" back to this moment. Barstool has done a yearly reminder of this performance for years.

Up With People

They should replay this at the Super Bowl, the perfect commercialization of Kumbaya. I mean MAGA should like it is a US corporation, but hates X2 all tne nonwhites)

JFC. Just shitting words out of their mouths at this point.

I find the whole thing really funny because I know a bunch of Puerto Ricans from my previous job and they're all ready to go to war for him lol...

Puerto Ricans have a real sense of pride and love for that little island and everyone from there that MAGA pretends they have for America.

I absolutely love that MAGA says Creed should play at the Super Bowl. It’s like Lt. Hauk suggesting that Adrian Cronauer play more normal artists like Andy Williams and Perry Como.

I'm holding out for a dead-guy concert with a cross-cut of Americana ranging across Stevie Ray Vaughan, Waylon Jennings, Prince, and Keith Richards.

Bad Bunny should ask Dropkick Murphys to join him.

Fucking…seriously. That would be awesome. They don’t get no more “REAL AMERICAN” than the DMs…and they would make MAGA heads ‘splode.

Goddamn I love those guys.

I'm really only barely familiar with Bad Bunny.  I know he's popular.  I've listened to some tracks.  I get that somehow the right is upset with him doing the halftime show.  Is it really just because he's not white?  Is that the new halftime show requirement?  From a clip in this thread I see Bad Bunny did a WWE (?) promotion of some sort.  Vince McMahon pretty Maga-ish if I recall correctly.  Hell, the NFL did moments of silence around the league for Charlie Kirk and is owned by corrupt billionaires.  Feels like made up conflict among people who are not even enemies.

Fair enough.  I'm reading some more backpages on this thread.  I guess the open racism is still tough to stomach.

Not that anyone asked, but I'm back to not watching college football which has been my norm for a long time now.  Pre-dates Trump really.   When I broke my wrist during snowboard season last year I watched some of the playoff games and enjoyed it, so got a bit back into it.  Now the Texas news has me back out.  That and all the other issues I have had with college sports for a long time (mainly the money in it versus for actual students).  But Texas bending the knee and saying they feel honored Trump chose them to manipulate was too much.  Fuck all that.

I'm also not that big on the NFL but my oldest son has been getting into it, playing fantasy football, e.t.c.  At age 16 I don't expect him to know all the gory behind the scenes of the politics around this stuff.  So I can either enjoy some last couple of years of Father/Son bonding before he leaves for college or I can enjoy time with him which happens to sometimes be during an NFL game.

I thought UT was still weighing whether to give in to Trump’s extortion. Have they really already announced they'll take it?

not yet.  but this statement alone really and truly bothered me:

Quote

“The University of Texas System is honored that our flagship —The University of Texas at Austin—has been named as one of only nine institutions in the U.S. selected by the Trump Administration for potential funding advantages under its new ‘Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education,'” Kevin Eltife, the chairman of the UT System Board of Regents, said in a statement.

On a related note, part of me is enjoying watching the Longhorns shit the bed against Florida.

I dunno. As a UF law grad I’m not too particularly proud of its fan base or current administration. Kind of two sides of the same coin.

Bottom line, right now someone is getting ass-raped without consent (longhorns), and isn’t that really the story of this era?
