Even worse than losing the 50 officers is that that's where all the fresh rations were that were supposed to go to the troops.

Jokes aside, this has got to screw with quite a few BTGs and regiments, if not outright division(s) depending on what kind of HQ was hit.

If I was the Ukrainians, I wouldn’t claim credit for it, I’d put out word that this was the result of a bunch of Russian soldiers fragging their officers so that they wouldn’t have to fight.  I’d do that every time you had multiple officers being killed.  Wouldn’t matter if Russian leadership knew the truth (and how much are they believed by the lower ranks?), the point would be to make Russian officers scared of their men.

Russian news is still pretty accurate, if you figure that whatever they say is the opposite of what happened.

Someone stated it perfectly on this thread, a couple of weeks ago.

Every word is a lie, every accusation, a confession.

Some have speculated that US/UK/NATO directly fed them info on that Kherson site that (reportedly) saw all of the officers killed.  I have no doubt the West is helping them pin down certain targets.

This kind of stuff ties into that:

Looks like speculation we provided the intel to Ukraine that enabled them to target the Moskva was correct.

The US had a P8 Poseidon flying around Romania within 100km of the Moskva in the hours before the Ukrainians lit it up. The P8 turned off the transponder several times, presumably flying out into the Black Sea.

A Boeing P8 Poseidon was within 100 miles of the Moskva on the day the Russian cruiser sustained catastrophic damage...

Although its precise capabilities are classified, experts have previously estimated that a P8 could map a cross-sectional radar area of 10,000 square metres from a range of more than 220 miles, meaning the Moskva would have been in range on the day of its sinking.

Ukraine war: US spy plane on patrol in Black Sea before sinking of Russian flagship Moskva

Hundreds of sailors are thought to have died when the flagship of the Russian Black Sea fleet was hit by at least one Ukrainian Neptune anti-ship missile. Its sinking has dramatically reduced the likelihood of an amphibious assault on Odesa and has dealt a blow to Russia’s capabilities in the Black Sea.

Although its precise capabilities are classified, experts have previously estimated that a P8 could map a cross-sectional radar area of 10,000 square metres from a range of more than 220 miles, meaning the Moskva would have been in range on the day of its sinking.

On April 13, a P8, with hex code AE681B, flew out of the US Naval Airbase at Sigonella in Sicily, heading in the direction of the Black Sea. It was first detected over the Mediterranean at 1.32pm Kyiv time.

Data from FlightRadar24 shows that the P8 flew over the Balkans and Bulgaria, before reaching Romania’s Black Sea coast in the early afternoon.

The last recorded position of the plane was above the town of Valea Nucarilor in Romania, about 12 miles from the Ukrainian border, at 3.27pm. At this point the P8 was just under 100 miles from the location where the stricken Moskva was found. At the time it disappeared from FlightRadar24 monitors, the P8 had descended from a cruising altitude of 29,000ft to 11,900ft.

For the next two hours and 56 minutes, the P8’s location was unknown. It finally reappeared at 6.23pm, flying towards the Black Sea coast above the town of Casimcea in Romania, about 37 miles from its last documented position.

According to defence experts, a P8 aircraft will typically turn off its transponder, the device that records its location, when it enters a conflict zone.

After 19 minutes, the P8 dropped off the radar again, before reappearing 42 minutes later near Abrud, in southern Romania at 7.24pm, from where it flew back to Sigonella. The first known report of the Moskva being hit came at 8.42pm, when a Ukrainian volunteer with links to the military posted a message on Facebook. At 10.31pm, the Ukrainian governor of Odesa gave the first official confirmation of the strike.

Lloyd Austin, the US defence secretary, admitted this month that America was providing intelligence to the Ukrainian military in the Donbas region, the first public admission that classified information has been shared with Kyiv.

Amelia Smith, an independent aviation data analyst from the US, said the presence of a P8 on April 13 was unusual, but “not totally out of the ordinary”. She said there had been a slightly larger number of US aircraft flying over the Black Sea coast that day.

A senior US defence official said: “In keeping with our support to Nato’s eastern flank, we have been conducting some limited air patrols off the coast of Romania. But we will not speak to the details of operational matters.”

Tough shitski for the Russians. They can whine all they want about the US supplying intel and weapons to the Ukrainians.
I seem to recall them supplying hundreds of MIGs, flown by their pilots, to fight the UN forces in the Korean War.

I clearly remember the Russians supplying the anti-aircraft weapons and SAM missile batteries that shot down more than 8,000 fixed wing & rotary wing American aircraft during the Vietnam War, killing thousands of US servicemen.

Payback can be a bitch.  Right, comrade?

And some younger generations still wonder why the US fought the Cold War to contain the Soviet Russians.

I previously had doubts to your actual age. You are snappier than any "olds" I know, and hip with the technology as well. That said, the bolded comment put any doubts I had to bed. Lol. That's classic cold war right there.

Meh.  The Vietnamese just wanted to end colonialism (France) and wanted self-determination and even asked for our help on several occasions.  We ignored them and they moved to the USSR in order to gain support for ousting France.  We got involved and fucked it all up.  The whole thing was a shit show and we were on the wrong side.  We had an opportunity to build a partnership there, or at least not get involved and let France's idiot deGaulle.

But the Soviets were still assholes.

Yes, I am well aware of that fact and that Eisenhower picked the wrong hoss to back when it was split up.
Back then our “side” didn’t differentiate between commies. Too bad, because Uncle Ho had lived in the US and liked Americans for the most part. Or so they say.

But the idea of preventing the expansion of Soviet influence was the correct policy after we saw what they had been doing to the Eastern Bloc, Greece, and other places.

And yes, fuck deGaulle.

Reading about Russian soldiers getting wacked has become my second favorite interweb activity...right behind porn.

Stack 'em up like cord wood, Ukes!

I’ve felt a little tingle in my shorts seeing some dead Russians. If this war doesn’t end soon I’m afraid it will get worse for me.
