From Ratcliffe's wiki page:

President Donald Trump announced on July 28, 2019, that he intended to nominate Ratcliffe to replace Dan Coats as Director of National Intelligence.[8][9] Trump expressed confidence Ratcliffe could "rein in" intelligence agencies which he asserted had "run amok."[48]

Ratcliffe has little experience in national security or national intelligence and is reported to have demonstrated little engagement on the matters as a congressman.[6][7][49] Trump's intent to nominate Ratcliffe also became controversial when press reports revealed that he had misrepresented his role in prosecuting terrorism and immigration cases.[6][26][27]

Ratcliffe is well known for criticizing the FBI and the special counsel investigation as being biased against Trump. Ratcliffe has also alleged that Russian interference may have benefited Trump's 2016 rival candidate Hillary Clinton more than it benefited Trump. American intelligence agencies, the Senate Intelligence Committee and Robert Mueller have maintained that Russia interfered to help Trump. A week before Trump's announcement, Ratcliffe had argued that the special counsel investigation put Trump "below the law" because it declined to exonerate Trump. Later, Ratcliffe claimed on Fox News that the special counsel investigation's report was not written by special counsel Robert Mueller, but by "Hillary Clinton’s de facto legal team".[50][9]

Democrats asserted Ratcliffe was unqualified and too partisan to serve in such a role, considered among the most nonpartisan in the federal government.[51] Some Republicans also privately expressed discontent with his selection and concerns about his ability to be confirmed.[52] However, Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr and Senator John Cornyn expressed confidence in him.[53][54] Democratic senators including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Ron Wyden, a member of the Intelligence Committee, said that Radcliffe’s only qualification for the office appeared to be "blind loyalty" to Trump, noting that he has promoted of some of Trump’s conspiracy theories about the Russia investigation and has called for prosecution of Trump’s political enemies.[55][50] Several former members of the intelligence community expressed concerns that Ratcliffe's appointment risked politicizing intelligence work.[6][56] They expressed fear that with Ratcliffe as DNI, Trump would in effect be assuming personal control over the intelligence community, which would then be expected to tell him only what he wants to hear.[57] They stressed the need for intelligence to be "candid, truthful and accurate even if it is unpleasant and does not confirm to the biases of the president".[9]

On August 2, 2019, Trump said in a tweet that he was withdrawing Ratcliffe's name from nomination, claiming that mainstream media scrutiny of Ratcliffe (though using the "lamestream" pejorative in the actual message) was unfair, and would result in "months of slander and libel," while White House sources said that Trump had become concerned about Ratcliffe's chances for confirmation, following feedback from some Republican senators.[10][13] Speaking to reporters later that day, Trump insisted the press had treated Ratcliffe unfairly, but he also stated that he liked the way the press vetted his nominees, saying "You vet for me." [58]

Again, loving the whistles blowing. And just look at the amount of hoopla it takes to ferry his ass to golf. A waste of tax dollars and a not insignificant portion is going right in the Trump coffers. Disgusting.

An ambulance has to go everywhere with him?

Yesterday, after golfing and not giving a second thought to American soldiers under fire in Syria or Kurds being cleansed of their lives simply for daring to exist, the President gave a talk at the 2019 Values Voters Summit. I've listed some of the *speakers below, I wonder if Ollie gave DJ any tips:

Alex Azar, Gary Bauer (President, American Values), Dr. Bill Bennett, Sam Brownback, State Sen. Jessica de la Cruz, Rep. Louis Gohmert, Sebastian Gorka, Sen Josh Hawley, Dana Loesch, Rep Mark Meadows, Lt. Col Oliver North,  James O' Keefe (Project Veritas), Dennis Prager...

There are several people listed in the link below who are tabbed as 'abortion survivors.' Is that a thing politically now? How exactly do they define that?

Anyway, this breakout session caught my eye, because I am really thinking that people affiliated with religious organizations that get involved with politics should lose their tax exempt status:

A BOLD OFFENSIVE

Speakers: Edward Graham, Son of Franklin Graham, Former Army Major, Now Serving with Leadership at Samaritan’s Purse*; Todd Chasteen, Vice President for Public Policy and General Counsel, Samaritan's Purse*; Luther Harrison, Vice President for North American Ministries, Samaritan's Purse*; Ken Isaacs, Vice President for Programs and Government Relations, Samaritan's Purse*; and Randy Riddle, Senior Director for Operation Christmas Child, Samaritan's Purse*

Synopsis: As American society continues to endure an unprecedented assault on Biblical values, Christians must stand firm on the unchanging Truth of God’s Word and be active in the public square. This includes supporting Christians who are persecuted for making principled stands on “controversial” issues such as gay marriage and abortion and strengthening local churches to be beacons of hope in their communities. The international relief and evangelism organization Samaritan’s Purse is working throughout the United States and around the world to advance the cause of the Gospel, support Christians who have been persecuted for their faith, and bring desperately needed relief to victims of disaster and those living in the midst of war, disease, and extreme poverty. As Samaritan’s Purse President Franklin Graham says, “We don’t run away from the fire; we run into it.” Learn more about how the organization is engaging in the fight for Biblical values by partnering with local believers and churches in the United States and worldwide in Jesus’ Name.

The strategy of “reducing America’s military involvement in foreign affairs” is fine.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with that strategic goal. The problem is that we have a President whose irredeemable qualities include sociopathy.  He has demanded an “adios, mofos!” execution that is resulting in the massacre of previous allies that have bled for our causes.  And he won’t lose a wink of sleep over it.  That’s the fucking problem.

We will need allies in the future.  Trump’s reference to WWII in abandoning the Kurds is ironic.  That war could not have been won by any of the allied countries alone.  One of the causes of its scale was American isolationism.

You can bet there will be another 9/11 at some point — the inhumane execution of Trump’s strategy ensures it.  When it happens, we’ll need to seek out allies, and by all rights their response would be, “Nyet!”

I should.also add: A big part of the problem is the insistence by Trump that all policy and strategic goals have to be executed before the 2020 election — ramifications of a poorly thought out and rushed execution be dammed.

Decades of one strategy getting us to where we are at?  Time needed to ensure allies previously dependent on our support aren’t hung out to dry?  A need to throttle changes to ensure something awful doesn’t arise to fill our void in world affairs?

Fuck that shit.  We have to be BOLD!! I’m a CEO an we have to get those quarterly numbers up!  The board may choose to make a change if we can’t show results NOW!

And the Trumpkins will love it.  He tried to accomplish everything he said he would. Succeeded in many, including ending our wars!  Best President ever, including Reagan!  That will be their refrain no matter who wins in 2020.

The ramifications of Trump’s shitacular execution won’t be fully felt until he’s out of office, and the 38% stupidest US citizens won’t be able to connect the dots back to these decisions.  The observations of those that can will be painted as revisionism with a liberal agenda by the machine of the 2% most wealthy US citizens and that will be enough for Joe Dirt.  And there we’ll be — 40% rock solid behind the future advancement of Trumpism with 60% of us shaking our head’s in disbelief.
