He just crushed in FL. I believe they allow women to vote there.

Oh. You mean women won’t be horny for him.  Not women won’t vote for him.  Very important.

Saw somebody on CNN this AM discussing DeSantis's win and she said part of that was Dems stayed home. Only 53% of eligible voters voted, compared to 63% the last time out. She blamed the Democrats putting up a virtual corpse in Charlie Crist. I'm thinking the landslide might not be as massive as Ron thinks. DOTARD definitely won't. That motherfucker is announcing soon and it's gonna be a shit-show, blood bath between those two. DeSantis will have the FOX/Murdoch machine behind him but DOTARD will have the loony-tunes MAGA/Q crowd in his corner. He gonna fuck things up Ross Perot-style! (The only caveat is if he realizes he's going to have to face the music on MAL issues and capitulates to DeSantis in exchange for a full pardon once DeSantis takes office.)

So how many days do we have to wait for Arizona and Nevada and CO to be called?

CNN reporter on the ground made it sound like we might not know on Arizona until Thursday night.

And yet he still couldn't get to 50% + 1. The single most depressing thing about last night's vote is that nearly 2M Georgians voted for the waterhead candidate.

Suburban white women are some of the most self-absorbed judgmental bitches in existence. Many are religious fanatics who are happy as hell that Roe was overturned and think women exist to serve men (think aggy girls and their MRS degrees). Many hate other women in general and don't care about Roe since abortion has never been something they've had to consider and is just for loose sluts (and knowing full well that they are privileged enough to afford an abortion in another state if they or their daughters need them, only poor women who need abortions should suffer). Others are just angry conservatives who need lib tears more than rights (and again know they can go to other states if needed). I've seen you refer to this several times and I just can't agree that Roe made that big of a difference. Women who are angry that it was overturned were already leaned liberal and those who are happy about it or are indifferent haven't really changed much. That's based more on my personal observation and opinion, and to the extent I acknowledge that Roe might have made a difference with some women, I don't see it as that big of a difference in these elections.

Clark has 28k "mail" ballots to count.  That's actually from the mail.

The number of drop off ballots is "considerable"

That mail in is 15k from Monday and Tuesday + 13k that came in today.  Bodes well that there could be 10k per day on Thursday and Friday too.

One big deal of keeping the house is that the Rs don’t get to make a spectacle of pelosi passing the gavel like they’ve promised to do for 2 years now. Even with a 1 person majority, they will ham it up.

She should have security on hand to protect her from assault. Make her own spectacle out of it.

It’s just amazing how much of a shitshow the count in Nevada is.

Yep.  They have to count ~80k mail in votes right now (Washoe/Clark), but can't even tell us how many ballots are from the drop boxes from yesterday.  I hope that means A LOT - as in like, 100k.

Also Thursday and Friday mail - come on big mail dumps.

Oops, it's like 80k.  I think we may be looking at 150k minimum outstanding that are all going to go heavily towards Masto/Sisolak.

Abortion was on the ballot in Michigan and Democrats took a trifecta.

Abortion was recently on the ballot in Kansas and a Democratic Governor survived in a deep red state in a neutral environment, in a historically perilous midterm.

Abortion was on the ballot in California and Democrats could win several House races right to be in danger.

Shades of woman hating in the rest of the post aside, even if taking it as true for argument’s sake, the logical conclusion of that the abortion issue clearly energized the last group you mentioned.

Maybe I'm just jaded that Oklahoma has gone full shitheel and women in this state overwhelmingly support assholes. If it helped in those states, great, whatever it takes.

Oh please, tell me more about white women.

This is always fun.

Ah yes, sorry. I forgot men aren't allowed to comment based on observations, data, and statistics. I'll just mosey on off to an incel board since I'm such a fucking misogynist. I assume you've made no observations or comments whatsoever on Black and Latinx voting trends?

Just quote our social scientist and thumb-on-the-societal-pulse scholar and what he says about white women:

1 seat closer to hanging on

This would have to count as another Trump fuck up if it sticks. Herrera Beutler held that seat down for what seems like forever for the GOP. She lost it because she had an R in front of her name and voted to impeach Trump.

I think it's way more than that.  There's 85k mail just from today to count, plus 300 boxes of ballots that were collected from the Clark drop boxes.  That's a lot.

Look, I'm not trying to start a rumor or anything but I know a guy who knows a guy high up in the CIA.  Lets just call him 'Qbert'.  We were at a swingers party, just sitting around talking politics and Qbert  confides that Nancy was actually killed during the home invasion what we think is Nancy is actually Trump in disguise.  The Repubs need to push for Nancy to be reelected Speaker.  Once "she wins Brandon and Harris will be hauled off to Guantanamo and  Trump will reacquire his rightful place as President for life.   This is very hush hush so please, don't share this with any MAGAs in your family or social circles.

Making observations about trends doesn’t include using bullshittery like calling women sluts and MRS degrees and all the other garbage you just spewed.

Be sure to use terms like “wetback” and the Nword when you get around to regaling us about Hispanic and Black voters.

This election yet again proves white men are the shittiest demographic and we still see way too many white men dumping on white women for not being better than us enough.

there are 18,000 people in vermont who think slavery should be banned by constitutional amendment?

i guess my vision of everyone in vermont looking like this...

needs to be updated.

Several years ago, my wife and I spent a week in Vermont for a friend of her's wedding.  Small town outside Burlington (which to be honest, is a small town itself).

Every single person that I remember from that week looked exactly like what is in this photo.

Oh, yeah.  Seemingly every other car on the road was a Subaru.

So where do we stand on the Dems’ strategy of backing Trump’s wingnut candidates? Are we okay with that now?

Absolutely not. It still pisses me off. Trumpism is still a major concern and the Dems should not prop it up.

I could tell you about my mom. And my aunts. And my sister. And my cousins. And my niece.

You’re not a monolith.

Fucking this, my goodness. I was raised in a very Catholic Mexican family and the women spoke like this all the time. My mother used the word "whore" repeatedly the last time she tried to argue with me about abortion when I was trying to express that abortion isn't just birth control and is far more complex. She just can't comprehend any other purpose of abortion. It started because she was chastising me after looking me up finding that I'm a registered Democrat (the horror). My post was literally expressing disgust with women who think like that, same as when I express disgust with people (mostly republicans) who use those other slurs.

But seriously, those of us on the blue side need to have a conversation on 2024 and the weaknesses on display in 2022.

As for strengths, the young ones are engaged and appear to be ready to vote for their future.

And, as a progressive, we need to applaud the Biden Administration for laying the groundwork for the reality of our post-neoliberal (globalized) world. Covid showed us these far flung supply chains are unstable and not resilient. Biden’s move to a more regionalized world is a huge step in the right direction.  That is just reality.  So kudos to President Biden on recognizing these change and acting on it. (If you need a primer to catch up on the state of the world economy, I highly recommend Homecoming: The Path to Prosperity in a Post-Global World by Rana Foroohar of the Financial Times.)

This shift was at the heart of the Fetterman enthusiasm pre-stroke. Having an industrial policy that champions our innovative spirit and our workforce is the path forward for the nation. Those of us on the blue side need leaders who speak to the opportunity for a renaissance of local and regional supply chains.

I am happy there was no dismal red tide, but there is a need for improvement on the blue side before 2024.

Just gonna quote myself from two years ago:

This. I don't even mind having moderate candidates in moderate districts. I think that's necessary. What I mind is the way they try to compete because it harms the party and the types of policies we're all ostensibly trying to achieve, and it doesn't fucking work.

Moderate Dem candidates get attacked as socialists like Nancy Pelosi and AOC all the time. How do they typically respond to that attack? They typically say "no, I'm not a socialist like them, you can trust me." This response is the entire purpose of the attack in the first place. It tells undecided voters "yes, the Republicans are right, Nancy Pelosi and AOC are socialists and they don't care about you and socialism is evil." It's basically telling undecided voters that they should just go ahead and vote Republican.

It's not actually hard to show that you're different from AOC without validating the attack against Democrats generally. All a moderate Dem needs to do is explain the tactic. The magician isn't exciting anymore once the audience knows how the tricks work. And Dems used to know how to do this:

Assessing Truman socialism meme. This meme is presently floating around… | by DC_Larson | Medium

All a moderate Dem needs to do is start with that, and then say something about how "I don't agree with AOC on some of the details, but we're fighting together to accomplish ____ which I know all of you support, and the GOP opposes it because they only care about the wealthiest Americans." This shit isn't rocket science.

Dems need some moderate candidates to run in moderate districts. But "moderate" doesn't mean Republican-lite candidates that run against the Democratic party.  Find some people that embrace universal values and know that the path to winning is attacking Republicans for being weird freaks who hate the American people, not explaining why they're a nicer Republican and nothing like the rest of those horrible Dems.

Did I completely misread his post, or wasn't he clearly mocking how privileged white women would look down their nose at poorer women (often of color) who need abortions as "loose sloots", pointing out how said privileged women are full of shit, since they know that they themselves (or their daughters) could easily take a weekend trip to wherever to get an abortion if they ever actually needed it? He's saying "this is what privileged white women call other women." He's not calling women sluts.

And MRS degrees - again, isn't he mocking the privilege of the many, many, many women who openly brag about that being their goal?
