18,000 cattle with no human loss... how is that possible? How are 18k that close together??

It's not a CAFO if you spread them out. If you got 18K cows going to want them as close together as possible to make feeding and milking easier. Downside is it concentrates the waste and waste gasses as seen here.

The air was thick with the scent of smoke as the guests arrived at the dinner party. They were all there to celebrate the success of the dairy farm, owned by Mr. Dimmett. However, the mood quickly turned somber when they learned that all of the milk cows had been burned alive.

As the guests sat down to dinner, they all began to wonder who could have committed such a heinous act. The farmhands were all accounted for, and no one had seen anything suspicious. The only lead the police had was a witness who claimed to have seen a man wearing a black hoodie leaving the scene of the crime.

The guests tried to make the best of the situation, but it was clear that everyone was on edge. Suddenly, there was a loud crash from the kitchen, and everyone rushed to see what had happened.

There, standing amidst the broken plates and spilled food, was a man wearing a black hoodie. His face was covered, but the guests could see that he was holding a canister of gasoline.

The man introduced himself as Almond Milk and claimed that he was there to avenge the death of his family's dairy farm. He explained that Mr. Dimmett's farm had put his family out of business, and he had decided to take matters into his own hands.

The guests were horrified as Almond Milk poured gasoline all over the dining room table and lit a match. Flames quickly engulfed the room, and everyone scrambled to escape.

In the chaos, Mr. Dimmett managed to grab a fire extinguisher and put out the flames. The police arrived soon after and arrested Almond Milk for arson and the murder of the milk cows.

It was a tragic end to what was supposed to be a joyous occasion. The guests were left to mourn the loss of the cows and try to make sense of the senseless act of violence. But they would never forget the name Almond Milk and the devastation he had caused.

Eating a beef rib at 1701 bbq and clicked on this.

From the op article:

Nearly 6.5 million farm animals have perished in barn fires since 2013, according to an AWI analysis.

Wow.

A handful of chicken barns would get you to 2 million animals pretty easy. Pretty much everything in agriculture will be burn at the drop of a hat because of the conditions they operate in, from equipment to grain storage to livestock buildings. Plus nothing is near a fire department than can to it in time to save a damn thing.

He gets his meat and dairy products from the store. Not from cruel feedlots and dairy farms. Didn't you know?

If you're referring to me, you've got three errors in your gotcha. People who argue this type of farming is necessary to survival and appropriate aren't worth arguing with.

So without factory farming, billions starve? Look around at your fellow Americans and consider whether mixing in a salad instead of daily bbq and burgers might be a good thing.

Billions violently revolt when the shelves are bare and the reply is to be more virtuous and consider their diet. Sheeple don't consider the virtue of a Victory Garden when baby ain't got no supper. As a fellow prick, I do appreciate the fat shaming sprinkled on top of the condescension though.

The world hit 1 billion in 1804. Took 130 years to double that. Then just 44 years to reach 4 billion. Hit 8 billion last year and will be topping 10 billion within the next 36 years. That's taking however many thousands upon thousands of years to reach 1 billion, but just 250 years to reach 10x that amount. 10,000,000,000 open mouths. People who argue that the farming norms of the first 12,000 years are still applicable and useful in the very near future are incapable of participating in a rational discussion of the issues. Or they truly don't mind to watch billions die so they can feel intellectually superior in their moral absolutism.

Disgusting. No animal, even livestock, should live (or die) that way. Fuck factory farming/feed lots/large-scale dairy. Fucking cruel.

I don't disagree with you, but as a guy with a small farm that can't exist on what income it generates alone, consumers value cheap burgers and hot dogs over the welfare of livestock.

What's even more hilarious is to have the audacity to actually think you can ascribe your human emotions and sense of morality to cattle. If you have 5,000 head of cattle in a 50 acre feedlot with all of the feed they can possibly eat, and an open gate to a 10,000 acre pasture knee deep in Coastal Bermuda. 100% 0f the cattle will be shoulder to shoulder in the feedlot. All they care about is what every other creature cares about, the most calories that can be consumed for the least amount expended. So, actually the feedlot is their paradise.

I've worked on a dairy. Dairy cows don't go off to loaf in the pasture after being milked. They crowd around the entrance to the milking floor waiting for the next opportunity to get their feedbag on.
