I read that the speech Dotard delivered last night was only 18 minutes long,?   That has to be a record, for getting that buffoon to shut the fuck up or maybe they just cut away and none of his lackies had the courage to tell him.

The coke was wearing off so he had to get off

As an atheist, our table is full, sorry.

He can go stand by the anarchist table and see if a spot opens up.  Maybe one of them will brain him with a skateboard.

I mean, you realize atheism is a belief system, while anarchism is a political philosophy, right? Apples Oranges.

I think he's yours (ours) unless maybe the Zoroastrian table will take him.

Every now and then I’m reminded of the poll that showed a majority of republicans think Trump is more religious than Joe Biden. The lifelong catholic who basically lives in the church.

These fucking people, I swear.

Eh, I would argue that atheism is not a belief system, but the lack of one particular belief.  But Trump does not have the clarity of thought to be really pro- or anti- anything.  He just wants to get the money.

Hmm, maybe he should be at the Christian table, next to Joel Osteen, etc?  I mean, all it takes is a *professed* belief, right?

Either way, he can't sit near me.  I can't go back to prison.

As popehat observes here, Trump seems to have no real internal life (need to click to get the full monty).

So questions of morality, spirituality, his place in the universe, have never concerned him in any way shape or form.

So, yeah he neither has nor rejects religion or any other belief system except his id and ego.  Another fairly typical characteristic of alcoholic/addicts.

You see, I think of atheism more as a belief that there are no deities.

Hm. It is hard to argue with your Christian Table position.

How the fuck can anyone fall asleep listening to RFK’s voice?! Like nails on a chalkboard.

I was gonna say like a fork in the garbage disposal, or my dog choking on some bullshit he found on the ground. I can't imagine how anyone is able to fucking work with that walking brainworm

Cheryl Hines married that voice.

Trump's $1776 "bonuses" are being funded by congressional increases in troop housing allowances:
https://www.defenseone.com/policy/2025/12/trump-rebrands-congressionally-approved-troop-housing-subsidy-warrior-dividend-bonus/410250/
Congress approved more money for military housing, also called the BAH, as part of the defense bill they just passed.  The DoD is giving this to the troops in the form of the $1776 bonuses.
So the cost of housing is going up, Congress recognized this and is giving our troops more so that they can afford housing, and Trump's team rebranded it as a "Warrior Dividend" and made it look like a bonus.

I’ll always take a raise over a bonus because raises compound. I’m curious if this changes the calculation in Congress’s eyes.

I have CNN on and the chyron has last night’s speech labeled as “factually challenged”, fucking pansies.

"Some people are saying that some of the things he said may have caused some people to question whether some of the things he said were actually indeed 100% factual...."

Drives me fucking crazy.

Well they got both because in todays defense bill that he signed, the military also got a 3.6% raise. Gotta pay off the muscle when the shit goes down, I guess

apropos of nothing, but growing up as an xenennial, we were an apolitical generation. we weren’t taught about government or politics, we didn’t give a shit about government or politics, presidents changed but life never did, and you truly had to go out of your way to learn or know anything about politics.

that’s why it has been so indescribably strange for me, as a man now in his 40’s, to have spent the past year+ learning that not only is the usa not this shining beacon of freedom and equality where anyone can prosper, the dream of every other nation; but i’ve now come to learn that, essentially, israel is a weak, tiny, ambitious bully, and that the United States is just the giant, mentally stunted, emotionally retarded bully who threatens to/actually does destroy anyone who tries to get in Israel’s way. what a bunch of bullshit this all turned out to be.

We're easily distracted by other shit like music, movies, sports, etc., but I won't criticize. It's possible the veil wouldn't have been lifted for me either had I not been fortunate enough to see my own country from afar over an extended period, through the lens of another people, as an exchange student when I was a teenager. Maybe I was already prepped a little bit, because my dad was a history teacher. As a result, my favorite subjects were almost always the social sciences and stuff like that: geography, history, social studies, etc., which may have been reinforced by the fact that I was adopted and always curious about my ancestral roots.

When Iraq had it's first vote and had something like 98% participation rate, so many people compared it to America's dismal participation rate.  But, in Iraq, whether your side won affected whether your people got jobs or were persecuted by police.  Iraqi elections could literally be life or death for your clan.  That wasn't the case in the US.  So much of how the government operated was apolitical.  You didn't have Presidents denying FEMA or SNAP based on whether 55% of a state voted a certain way. You didn't have the government directing or canceling criminal investigations based on your clan.  Politics was more academic or philosophical or at least big-picture, slow burn shit.  The low participation rate reflected stability.

That has changed.

Don't get me wrong.  I've been political all my life and have always found it important.  The philosophy and slow burn shit is important. But I've knocked on enough doors to recognize it's not always easy to explain the importance when there aren't immediate, tangible consequences.
