I guess the point is, what does happen if a US active duty Marine shoots and kills a US citizen civilian who is practicing a constitutional right of peaceful protest?

That went from "physically impossible, 0% it happens" as of yesterday to "actually possible, and increasing in possibility as things deteriorate in LA, 1% it happens"

The difference between 0 and 1% isn't 1%, it's infinite.

Considering the entire plan is to provoke the protesters and to skew what constitues "peaceful protest" the chances are way more than 1%. Question is whether TACO will TACO or if he actually deploys the Marines into the crowd. If they are deployed, they will almost certainly open fire eventually.

Enjoy:

My favorite part about that one:

@Zeus

I'm quoting him since you have him on ignore but he posted the receipts! Zeus, without a response, I'm going to conclude you're a  dumbass chickenshit rube.

I like how this is from 6 weeks after the incident. I really thought it was just incredibly stupid speculation right after it happened.

A Marine battallion is 811.  A platoon is 43.  Where exactly is the 700 number coming from?

a "Pentagon official" per Reuters

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/pentagon-deploy-700-marines-los-angeles-official-says-2025-06-09/

The official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said a battalion would be sent, but for now, the Insurrection Act is not expected to be invoked.

So you don't know the back story, and you have no idea if that happened in LA within the last day or so.  Gotcha.

Yeah that’s usually how viral violent videos on social media work, with a full AP fact check backstory.

I mean they can destroy those Waymo cars, that I approve of

I've used them 4 times in SFO. Always an enjoyable experience with no tip or chit-chat.

Looks like some people set a Jeep on fire.  What's the back story, Zeus?

Depends.

If the act of destruction happened in LA, ever, it's "leftist violence!  SEND IN THE MARINES!"

If the act of destruction/beating the fuck out of cops happened at the Capitol on January 6th it's "FAKE NEWS!  JUST TOURISTS!"

Man, Jimmy, it's like you didn't even read the "How to be a Fascist-enabling Giant Piece of Shit" memo.  I coulda sworn you were on the routing list.

This is the admin's plan, always has been.

Abuse the people, violating all norms and laws.

People respond as they should - by getting pissed off.

Use "pissed off people" as an excuse to deploy paramilitary/Gestapo forces, and then military forces, on US soil and in US cities.

Impose martial law or something that looks a whole lot like martial law.

Suspend elections.

Seize total and complete power.  The courts will be powerless to stop it.  The ballot box will no longer be available.  And any resistance by the people will be much, much harder, because there will be armed troops fucking everywhere.

This is not hard, folks.  It's a pretty basic playbook.  And they've been telegraphing/promising it for years now.  We should believe them.

Probably not. You’ll have to wait for infrastructure week.

Lefties are limp wristed soy boy beta cucks but also violent mobs of insurrectionists that can only be subdued by the U.S. Marines.

This country isn't worth saving, it just isn't, let it die already.

Bingo

I’m ready to watch it all burn down and hopefully make it to see what becomes of the ashes

This was the conclusion I drew the morning after the election and I’ve seen nothing since then to prove otherwise.

I'm sure in the new landscape the old confederacy will stick together so the SEC can finally get what it wants, it's own national championship.

lol you judge the leadership by if they legalize the devils lettuce or not?

I'm just saying, in New York and California they have prosecutors/judges that let violent criminals back out that instantly commit more violent crimes. We don't have that in Texas. We also don't have cities that tell their cops to stand down or actively resist feds. I guess besides Austin, they seem to have surrendered to the homeless or whatever.

Ever live in California? Probably not. It's weird how you folks think California is lawless. Guy has a loaded firearm in his car in Texas. Legal. California? Illegal. Cali has a 3 strikes law. California has all kinds of gang injunction rules that I've never seen here. There are so many things that point to you not knowing what you are talking about. Everyone has rights in California which makes it much easier to run afoul of the law.

It’s pointless to engage with someone who does not understand a word of what you are saying. You might as well be speaking Swahili right now.

The problem is there are tens of thousands of Zeuses around the Internet posting on social media (possibly in good faith) and even more people that take them seriously.  It’s exactly how we got here.

It’s millions of them.  Seriously.
Add in bots that propagate the BS and that’s how we are here.  But the common denominator is stupidity.

It's interesting that for years we've heard Republicans babble about "smaller federal government" and "states' rights."

And here we are, with the mayor and the governor saying that the National Guard is not wanted or needed, and it's making things worse.  And still it is being shoved into the situation.  I mean, this is the crowd control equivalent of a federal rape.  And the Marines are getting warmed up now?  For what?  A thrown water bottle and some torched cars?  Has anyone even been injured?

Has a single Republican denounced this?  Are there any Republicans who are actually small federal government conservatives anymore?

Because while I may not agree with them on any issue, we fucking need them right now.  This is a tipping point.

The only legitimate use of government is terrorizing brown people, and it's worth increasing our debt tenfold and building a Big Brother surveillance apparatus.
