I am acutely aware.  But as of the announcement in December 2019, the vast majority of US churches were sticking with the mainstream, pro-LGBTQ UMC.  It was non-US churches, for the most part, that were the sticking points.  Them Africans hate some homosexuality.

It's not the vast majority.  It was expected to be, but apparently there are a lot more shitheels than expected.  Our little church in Wimberley has lost something like 30 families from membership over this.

NYC Dog walking Karen was actually way more Karenie than was first reported.

Bitches be cray

White woman who called 911 on Black birdwatcher made 2nd call saying he tried to assault her

A white woman whose 911 call and confrontation with a Black birdwatcher in Central Park was captured on video made a previously undisclosed second call alleging that the man had assaulted her, authorities said Wednesday.

The woman, Amy Cooper, "engaged in racist criminal conduct when she falsely accused a Black man of trying to assault her in a previously unreported second call with a 911 dispatcher" on May 25, Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance said in a news release.

Cooper is charged with a third-degree misdemeanor for making a false report, the district attorney said.

In her initial 911 call, Cooper said the man was threatening her.

In a second call that was first revealed Wednesday, Cooper "repeated the accusation and added that the man 'tried to assault her.' When responding officers arrived, Ms. Cooper admitted that he had not 'tried to assault' or come into contact with her," the news release said.

"Fortunately, no one was injured or killed in the police response to Ms. Cooper’s hoax," Vance said.

The incident occurred in a part of Central Park called the Ramble.

The birdwatcher, Christian Cooper, noticed Amy Cooper had let her cocker spaniel off its leash against the rules in that part of the park, he has recounted. He said he asked her to put her dog on a leash. When she did not, he pulled out his phone and began recording.

Amy Cooper is shown in the video telling Christian Cooper to stop recording her or that she will call the cops and tell them, "There's an African American man threatening my life." She repeats this statement several times.

Christian Cooper does not appear to move any closer to her in the video. When he refuses to stop recording her, Amy Cooper grabs her dog's collar and moves away from him to call the police, the video shows.

"There is an African American man. I am in Central Park. He is recording me and threatening myself and my dog," she said on the call. "Please send the cops immediately!"

The video and publicity about the incident spurred accusations of racism and led to Amy Cooper's getting fired from her finance job. She also surrendered her dog to a shelter where she had gotten it.

Christian Cooper said he stopped recording once Amy Cooper put a leash on her dog.

You couldn't be more of a fucking moron about that if you tried.

There is a very, very large progressive Christian movement.  You know, folks who are pounding their heads in frustration at that anti-gospel, outright hypocrisy of "evangelical christians."  Just because you have bought the insane and false lies of the admin ("Biden hates religion"  - dude, he carries a fucking ROSARY with him, that's more religious than 95% of America right there) doesn't make them true.  In fact, that the message comes from the admin tells you it's false.

Not only is the Democratic party NOT anti-Christian, a metric shitton of Christians are voting Democratic precisely BECAUSE it aligns more closely with the simple truths and values of what the Gospel says.

Jesus, you can't help but pants yourself, can you?

As a UU, I gotta say it feels pretty cool to be part of one of the few denominations that is more Dem than Atheists. Instead of gay marriage or women preaching, our biggest national struggle is to how to reconcile white supremacy with aging (and largely older white) congregations.

If Jimmy and John had any shred of decency and honor...they would rename the BLT with Cheese on the board, "The Karen"

I mean, they've got a "Tom", a "Lulu", a "Pepe", a "Hunter"...they can't call one "the Karen"

They already kinda consider themselves like the outlier, renegade sandwich shop bad boy that doesn't play by the rules.  Our Guy Fieri to the mainstream's Jared.

If they were to have a sandwich called "The Karen" in 2020, I'd make it a point to eat there twice a week and bring friends.

Don't capitalize "atheists." That's not a thing. It isn't an order, it's not a belief system anymore than "off" is a TV channel.

This is correct. Our UMC Church is in a conference led by a lesbian bishop, and our pastor is a black lesbian. There's a lot of support for inclusivity in the US UMC. We just sponsored a virtual town hall in which various experts of color discussed ballot issues from an equity / anti-racist lens. It is a great example of what church should be about -- challenging the status quo and fighting for justice.

Is she from Highland Park, too?

Edit: no, she was a UGa cheerleader.

Not the first time she has been a whiny cunt, either: https://people.com/sports/kelly-stafford-apologizes-criticizing-colin-kaepernick-kneeling/

She did have a brain tumor in 2019 apparently, so maybe they accidentally removed her brain, too.
