Zanesville woman/Aliquippa man-ass fashion sense.

As a child, Mrs. Canecutter and her family did a road trip across the US and spent one night in a Zanesville motel. What was Zanesville like?

"In the morning there was a dead rat outside our door."

"Do you remember anything else?"

"No."

On the adrenochrome thing:

Summary of relevant text from "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" followed by literary analysis.

“Where’s the opium?” Gonzo asks. Duke hands him the drug bag, which is nearly empty. “As your attorney,” Gonzo says, “I advise you not to worry.” He tells Duke to take “hit” from a small bottle in his shaving kit. “Adrenochrome,” he says. “You won’t need much.” Duke has heard of this drug—it “makes pure mescaline seem like ginger beer.” He dips the head of match into the bottle and licks it. “Where’d you get this?” Duke asks. Adrenochrome isn’t the kind of thing you can just buy. It comes from “the adrenaline glands from a living human body.” Gonzo tells him he got it as payment from a client, a “Satanism freak” that didn’t have any cash.

The addition of adrenochrome means that Duke and Gonzo’s drug binge is officially out of control. The fact that they have the drug implies that someone had to die for them to use it, which is in keeping with Thompson’s overarching theme of violence as meaningless brutality and even entertainment. While Thompson is being satirical here, adrenochrome does exist, but it is not known to have any psychedelic properties.

The adrenochrome hits Duke almost immediately, and he can he can “feel [his] eyeballs swelling, about to pop out of the sockets.” Gonzo begins to back away. “Goddamn it,” he says. “You took too much.” He assures Duke that the rush won’t last long, and that he will have to “just ride the bastard out.” Gonzo turns back to the television and continues watching the news. Images of “Nixon’s face fill the screen,” but Duke can’t make out what he is saying. “Just stay relaxed,” Gonzo says again. Duke looks back to the television where Nixon is repeating “sacrifice…sacrifice…sacrifice.”

Duke has only taken the smallest drop of the drug, yet it is still too much—not even he can handle the pure essence of human emotion that adrenochrome supposedly contains. The news image of Nixon again calls attention to the violence and corruption of the Vietnam War. The image of Nixon repeating the word “sacrifice” reflects the violence of the government and their willingness to kill innocent people, which Duke is paradoxically calmed by—presumably because he is so used to it.

tldr: The actual compound exists, but it has no psychoactive properties. How it went from being used satirically by Thompson in the early 70s to something Democrats harvest from children in 2023 I don't know.

I don't get this whole thing.  I think she's smoking beautiful.  She is a warrior for battling cancer.  By all accounts, is a great mother.

Her prize mistake is she pulled a Lynette Pomeroy and fell for a Naval officer who would turn out to be a complete piece of shit.  In the end, she's the least shitty thing named DeSantis.

Given how Rod acts at his various "rallies" and speeches, it makes me think she's the one driving the whole presidential thing and he's there for the ride.

Poor Casey ….

I mean, it's like you support asinine culture wars, perpetuate lies that the election was stolen, and use migrants as political pawns and suddenly Vogue doesn't want anything to do with you. Cancel culture at its worst.

My buddy lives in Georgia and goes down to Florida on vacation several times a year.  I don't get it.  Fuck Florida.  BUT when he texted me this weekend that he was there, in light of current events, I shot back with "watch out for the Nazis".

He responded:  I think you are scared of red states like republicans are scared of blue cities.

I let it go, but come the fuck on man.  First, I'm not "scared" of Florida, it just fucking sucks.  Second, there were literal nazis in Florida this weekend.  Not my fault.

No, you're not. ~15 years ago there weren't any states on my "no fly list," but pretty much the entire deep south is on the list now, with a bunch of Midwestern states as well. It's incredibly inconvenient considering my alma mater is a deep south state, but I make exceptions for Charleston.

Personally I prefer to travel in sealed railroad carriages.

She doesn't care if poor women die of breast cancer either. Florida is one of only 12 states (TX included) that have not expanded Medicaid.
She got her cancer care covered by government insurance, but denies that same care to the poor.
Just like her toad of a husband, she's the walking, talking embodiment of Fuck You, I Got Mine.
I did some half-assed internet research. I wanted to see how many GoFundMe(s) were set up for Florida women fighting breast cancer... it wasn't zero.

Its striking how much Texas is a "non-voting" state. There were 7.5 million more people living in TX than FL in 2020, but only 180k more votes tallied for president.

Which is why Abbott, Patrick, etc. are trying to get control of the larger counties/cities - it scares the hell out of them that there are so many potential voters out there.

It also very much bolsters Bozo's thesis that the Texas Democratic Party is an abomination and a total failure of an organization.

It should also be cautionary tale to progressives in other states not to piss off/write off/fail to court centrist Dems and fence-sitters. You may dislike them, but you need them to win. You can be pure and maybe run the trendy city of your state, or you can be smart and, at least sometimes, run your state.
