The games last year could be explained by having better offensive personnel around him.

and pretty much zero pressure.

Remember all the arguments in the Quinn thread?

Only 1 of 3 possibilities exist.

1) Arch is and always has been shit and nobody in all of his professional level personal training in HS and college, family of NFL QBs or 2 full fucking years at Texas under Sark caught that reality. So for 2 fucking years and 2 games played Sark didn't see the issues and make plans/moves in the portal or otherwise for a good alternative.

2) Arch was great but was absolutely hampered upon arrival at Texas by the coaching staff. We saw a 5 star and NFL drafted QB slowly lose his self confidence, execution and leadership under this staff. It might well be that the time he spent at OSU made him as good as he was since the performance curve dropped the longer he was here. Also, it may be that the offensive game plan didn't fit his abilities well and Sark was stuffing a square peg in a round hole. All of these could absolutely be true for Arch and there is a very clear example of it occurring here already.

3) Arch is hurt and the staff is keeping it under wraps as the alternative options are even worse. Remember this exact same argument in the Ewers thread? Well, it turns out to be true.

Those are the 3 options, and there are no others. Ever single fucking one of them points to shitty head and offensive coaching work. All of them.

There’s a 4th option:

everyone around him knew he was shit but felt their coaching and guidance could turn him into greatness.

I told someone a week ago that I wonder if it’s mental because he’s getting so much coaching from so many different great players/coaches. My communication professor brain is saying Arch has information overload which if when you get so much information that you retain practically none of it.

I think every SEC opponent is ranked that OU plays.  Also read the OU thread.  There’s serious deep seated issues in the foundation and they poor bruh.  Texas struggles don’t change those facts. Croots ain’t coming anytime soon…

On this day, September 14th, Oklahoma has a better team than Texas. That was not a comment about long term program health or macro recruiting trends. In Dallas this team is going to lose by two TD’s to Oklahoma. That is my immediate concern.

Agree that he’s definitely over thinking.  That 4th and 3 play where he rolled to his left, he had Parker wide fucking open for an easy pass and catch that gets us the first.  He stares at him for like 2 seconds just scrambling until all the defenders surround him, then proceeds to run the other way and throwing away from his body to the middle for a pick.  Just stupid decisions.  That’s an easy single read play with a wide open WR and it’s like a 3 yard throw on the short side of the field.  These are simple things.  I have no doubt he can make that throw… him choosing not to is what is confusing.

If I’m Sark, I’m limiting everything for him.  Run the ball, designed QB runs.  If we need to throw it, give him a single read, if it’s not open scramble.  If you don’t get the 1st down, punt or take the 3 points.  We need to focus on just getting 10 yards a drive without a penalty.  Let’s just start there and try to build on it.  Letting go. Try to operate this offense with all the misdirection and reads is a recipe for us to lose lots of games in SEC play.  Take the ball out of his hands, run it, bleed clock, rely on your defense, punter, kicker, and just try to get 1 more point than the opposing.  This season is cooked.  At this point just try to salvage it and play like Michigan and old bama teams played offensively.

Whatever it is, stop the play action where he turns away from the defense and start running misdirection so we aren't always facing 3rd and long after 2 runs up the middle.

So many concerning parallels to the 2010 team. Coming off two great seasons with a great/very good QB, new 5-star QB who plays like a scrub, o-line can’t bust a grape, terrific defense that can’t win the game by itself. The only thing delaying the grim reality is a slate of 3 cupcakes. If a 1-3 UF team beats us 34-12 you’ll know the worst is upon us.

It would honestly be really impressive if we hold Oklahoma to 14 given we're going to get shut out.

This could maybe be its own thread but…

How much does NIL influence a coach leaving a player in even when he isn’t producing?

This could be at lots of schools with decent NIL money.  Is there pressure on the coaches to try and ride out the dry spell in performance since so much money has been committed to this player?

Arch sucks, and right now that is the biggest problem, BUT

The offensive line sucks as well, and even if Arch turns it around, gets benched for somebody who plays better, yada yada yada, THAT is the problem that is insurmountable when it comes to this team's goals/expectations.

Maybe if Sark actually put on a Spring Game this year, some of these glaring issues would have been exposed and subsequently addressed in the portal.

Spring games are dumb and pointless and now rife for meddling.

Nah

Either he dominates, or the fanbase spends all summer being being gaslit by local and national media about the “massive overreaction” to a spring game

Thread title isn’t quite Alabama Ball Gargling or Sam Bradford Seems Like He Sucks levels yet, but it is trending there, and it’s making me laugh when I visit the site and see it near the top.

Garrett Gilbert? Hell, I’d take Garrett Gilbert. Arch Manning isn’t in danger of becoming Garrett Gilbert. He looks like he’s already become the football version of Chuck Knoblauch. Steve Sax is starting to worry that Manning might have the fucking yips.

I’m not “worried” about it, personally. I’m sure of it. That dude couldn’t be more mentally weak between the lines on a football field if he was carrying a stuffed animal out there with him and sucking on his pacifier.

THIS AGGRESSION WILL NOT STAND
