Charlie Kirk assassinated at an event in Utah [Professional Job or Crazy Person?]

There is no equivalent to Charlie Kirk on the left.

If Obama was assassinated we would be horried (and all your wailing fb friends would be radio silent) but he's not someone liberals rely on to think for them. They are so upset at losing Kirk because he was the person that formulated their thoughts for them and made arguments against liberals they arent smart enough to come up with

Is that really analogous to people saying Kirk got what he deserved or was asking for it by saying things the left considers hate speech? Some righty or NRA fanboy ever said the kids had it coming?

Who is saying this? I'm sure lunatics on social media are posting shit like that, but it's pretty disingenuous to assert that's what "the left" is represented by whatever extreme position social media serves up to you as outrage bait

I'll tell you what: can we just try it for a year? Full background checks, red flag laws, safety and awareness classes, gun safe laws, licensed concealed carry only, the works. If there's not a dramatic fall in shooting deaths--if the kid from Uvalde and other social butterflies are able to Google their local black market gun dealer easily enough--we'll admit to being wrong and never infringe again.

And if we see a decrease in gun violence we expand the program to confiscate every fucking gun in the country.  I've often asked gun nuts if they would take a bet on whether or not gun violence goes down if all guns are confiscated.  If gun violence stays the same or goes up, everyone in the country is given their choice of gun free of charge.  If gun violence goes down, ain't nobody getting their guns back.  No one is willing to hypothetically take that offer.

There's no such thing as hell, but if there is, then yes Charlie Kirk is there right now. He's pretty clearly not a Christian.

Things would be bad... real bad for a short while, but after "the initial purge" things might actually be better.  Fewer jackasses running around would probably calm things down.

People keep thinking that bringing awareness to his despicable words will have an effect. These are things our right-leaning neighbors want to say, but are afraid to. This murder will only embolden them. They can dodge our remonstrances in the fashion of Incredulity and the hateful newcomers coming in hot with eye rolling takes about how hateful we are, blowing right past the words we are actually saying as they build up the courage to espouse bigotry.

Nothing fucking matters except power. The right is lost to the power of hate. The grifters running our government only gain more power through his death. There is nothing good about any of this because the flow of power is accelerating into the hands of people who will exterminate their opposition when they feel safe to do so.

Nah. They would say he had it coming because he was the most divisive President ever.

Hey man, you are actually confused about this. Almost literally nobody here likes that he was murdered. I think he was a piece of shit and the world would be a better place if he had never existed but there are numerous reasons why I wish he hadn’t been murdered, some of which relate to the wrongness of murder and some of which relate to the ramifications of a shithead like him with a large following of impressionable morons who wield enormous political power being martyred. Nobody is glad he was killed [edit: I mean virtually nobody in this conversation in this thread], it’s not gaslighting. We just still think he was a piece of shit, same as we thought yesterday morning.

Charlie Kirk wasn’t assassinated. That asshole got shot.

It is the biggest word they know, with the bonus of having ass in it 2times. However, if they ever found out it originated in Middle Eastern history they might stop using it.

I suspect @Murfdogg21’s claim that many on the left are saying he got was he deserved is rooted in posts like #2 of this thread and the 20+ FAFO reactions. What Kirk said was ugly and insensitive and not worth saying, but that quote is dominating every discussion about yesterday’s horrific event.

The comparisons to MLK are disgusting and right on par for maga and the right.

If anything, Kirk is like the Fred Hampton, maybe a Malcom X of the radical right. That’s probably a more apt comparison.

Yeah, and you can bet this administration will probably try to create a national holiday in his name.

Kirk specifically indoctrinated students on college campuses. Education in general is the radical lefts equivalent.

They painted Obama as divisive, and he got everybody affordable healthcare. So of course they’d paint Obama as a radical black Muslim and celebrate his death.

Heaven forbid we talk about the hateful words and works of a man when the nation is bending over backwards to honor a Jan6 planner and virulent racist. He literally bussed in the guy that was attacking a cop with a fire extinguisher on Jan6, and we're putting flags at half staff.

It's absurd that he is being lionized. It's mourning an arsonist that burned down in his own fire.

The murder is wrong and evil, and is only going to encourage an even stronger response from the Party that was taking their rhetorical cues on which group to target next from Kirk and TPUSA

They’ll replace Lee with Kirk.

Hell is not about dispensing man's retribution for what other men did on earth. It’s eternal separation from God because of failure to accept Jesus‘s sacrifice for our sins, and the only unforgivable sin is knowingly rejecting that sacrifice. Knowing that God forgives what I consider to be unforgivable is the toughest thing about being a Christian in my opinion.

The Majority Report has been covering the divisive, incendiary, idiotic shit Charlie Kirk has said for years and Sam Seder has debated Kirk previously in public and embarrassed him. This segment from four years ago in which they talk about a Kirk event in Boise in 2021 when a member of Kirk's own audience asks "when do we get to use the guns?" is very relevant today. The Kirk defenders and the pearl-clutching @Frank Hammer crying about the way we treat each ought to watch this clip.

We have different ideas of what merits the man of God descriptor.

He was peaceful while he spoke. His message was not.

What was that about political violence being the sole province of the left?

My “Yeah for Sure,” was a response to, “He’s not going to make it.”  Not the “Man of God,” comment.

But yes, I’m sure we do have different views on a few things.

It would be great if this moment led to a true change in our country where we actually talk about the inherent rot in our country related to gun violence. But we won't. We'll do the usual finger pointing and trying to score points on the other side. The same thing happened after the Minnesota representative was murdered. Then we'll go about our lives until the next time this happens which should come along shortly.

Yep.  I've already heard from multiple people I know/am related to, all about Kirk and what this all means and how this is bad or good for whichever side they are on or oppose. Two days ago, if I said the name "Charlie Kirk" to these people, they, knowing I like Star Trek, would have asked if that was Captain Kirk's brother (that's George "Samuel" Kirk Jr you simpletons) or dad (George Samuel Kirk Sr).

But, social media makes them experts on somebody they didn't know existed or who had only heard about in passing 24 hours before.

Charlie Strong was absolutely right about social media being the downfall of society.

10 years of the dehumanization of those you disagree with makes it ok to murder them for the lunatic fringe. Two failed presidential assassinations and one successful political assassination bear that out.

I get it, conservatives don’t like the hate toward Charlie Kirk. Hey, I’m with you, hate no person, hate no living thing.

but if you’re going to condemn those who are too weak on the left and say hateful things about Charlie Kirk, are you going to say anything about the hate Charlie Kirk said about others?

This is not a gotcha game, I am here for the radical revolution of kindness
