I am perfectly fine with them rationalizing away the loss and living in denial

This. I hope they have all already forgotten and continue being themselves.

They don't know how to do anything else.  Mike Johnson couldn't pour water out of a boot if the instructions were written on the heel.  He's not capable of righting the ship.

Oh no more delicious shawarma instead of boiled hotdogs aaaaahhhhhhh 😩

It reminds me of that Trump supporter who said in 2016 that if Hillary won there would be a taco truck on every corner in America. Um, wouldn't that be a reason to vote for Hillary?

We've already got one of those from Alabama.  He'd probably win.  No thanks.

You're inability to answer simple questions is fucking beyond pathetic. It's telling, sure, but mostly pathetic.

Nice to see you show up around now, though. Happy hour is getting started right?

I think people ignore the role Covid played in all this.  Covid was a traumatic time, and we all have nostalgia for the Before Times.  And I capitalize "Before Times," because we all know what I mean.  I could use it completely out of context, and you'd know what it means.

And Trump was the president at the end of the Before Times.  So for a lot of people, he represents that normality that they'd want to return to.  They don't remember how badly he fucked up Covid.  Because we all just blocked out a lot of shit that went on during the Covid Times.  It was just that traumatic.  And really, for a lot of people, Biden is more closely associated with the Covid Times just because when our minds and memories kicked back on as we departed the Covid Times into the After Times, Biden was president.

That's my hypothesis, at least.  I'm sure there's a psychology thesis in there somewhere.  Maybe someday someone will write it.

I have a very good friend who is an elected officeholder and who is running for office again in 2026.  He was recently asked by a constituent about his position on Israel, and he expressed his frustration to me.  He complained that he is a state official; he doesn't have shit to do with foreign policy or the State Department or anything to do with Israel.  So why would anybody ask him this question?

I disagreed with him, and I'll tell you what I told him.

It's not about Israel.  Everyone knows you can't do anything about Israel and Gaza.  Ok--not everyone.  We have plenty of morons out there.  But I know.  And I'd ask you the same question for exactly the same reason I'd ask a candidate for the school board about his position on abortion or a candidate for the local MUD Board his position on immigration.  It's a question about your values.

When I ask you whether you support what Israel is doing in Gaza, I'm really asking what are your values.  Do you know right from wrong?  And do your conceptualization of right and wrong comport with my own.  Because if you think that Israel bombing women and children in their homes is right; if you think Israel deplying the military to starve a civilian population is justified; if you think Israel's targeting of journalists and aid workers to facilitate its program of starvation in Gaza is morally correct, then I have my answer to every other policy issue.  We don't have to talk about medicare expansion, or tariffs, or transportation policy, because I know your values don't line up with my own.  So I'm going to vote against you.

Pretty much what I told the incumbent County Supervisor for my district.  "Can I count on your vote?"

"Fuck no, I don't support anybody that supports Donald Trump".

Awesome, I'm in.

But, just no be clear, you're not trying to conflate last year's incredibly nervous excitement based on polls and vibes to our positivity about yesterday's real-world ass kicking (however small the scope) are you?

Because that would be really dumb. And I know you're not dumb.

I'm not saying that she should be the victim of sexual misconduct, but it would be hard to work with her and at least not let my mind go to certain places.

For a long time, men didn't even try to hide it. Then times changed, and men started seeing consequences. Not enough and not often enough, but that positive change has been met with whining and resentment particularly but not exclusively from conservative groups. I suppose the next step is for consequences to be stronger, swifter, and unavoidable. And the next step after that is for our minds to not even go to those certain places. That's probably what all the microplastics are for, and it's why all the Gen Z and Gen Alpha don't care about sex anymore.

You telling me that the Kamala juice wasn’t real? And that the first chance at an off year non federal election cycle is the real shit we should weight? Again, this board has a very very poor track record when it comes to reality and certainly when it comes to reality based casual inference.

Yeah but he probably won't be the last in the NYFD or NYPD to do some dramatic bitchy shit like this.

He will get his 15 minutes on Fox News, then some Texas or Florida community will hire him as fire chief and brag about it being NYC's loss.

CyFairISD had all 3 of the seats won by the woke, commie, liberal candidates, this flipping the Board to a 4-3 majority. They will have to make tough decisions and undo some things the last group did like displaying the 10 Commandments, supporting a Bible class in Public schools as a "history" course, banning evil books, defunding librarians on campus, reducing/eliminating bus routes and not supporting teachers to have more control in classrooms. Can't wait for the leftist Utopia that maintains secular education, builds up the libraries, and supports teachers. The right wing nutjobs on our neighborhood pages are all up in their feels right now, it's glorious.

I mean, you are probably not super far off, but before times to me is 2016. Covid was much less traumatic than that.

Texas did allow write ins for president in 2016.  I wrote in (but I should have voted Clinton).

Yes, I'm telling you that actual election results are what carry weight. Because duh. Yes, it's a small step. No, it doesn't guarantee anything in a year's time. Yes, it's going to be a long fucking 3 years regardless. (Who is suggesting differently to any of those statements, by the way?). But to play it off as insignificant--ass-kickings across the board, a hard shift left virtually everywhere, all with record turnouts--is pretty naive and bitchy. You don't have to live your life with cunt mode fully engaged at all times, man.

He's a disciple. He openly called himself a Democratic Socialist last night. He's of the branch, so of course it's the same platform. Now I don't have much worry that he "gets" it after seeing him speak last night, but the priority should be to build that coalition and hammer home the working-man talking points and make sure everyone knows that they are included in this future. Young men as well.
